Sloan’s fiancé died two years ago in a motorcycle accident. She hasn’t dated anyone since then. On her way to the cemetery, a dog walks out in the road and Sloan slams on her breaks. Well, the dog jumps through her sunroof into her car. She then takes care of the dog and looks for the owner. For two weeks she calls the owner and after two weeks he calls back, but Sloan wants to keep the dog. She tells Jason, the dogs owner to prove that you love your dog. After that, Jason and Sloan text and call each other and finally start dating. Sloan finds out Jason is the famous Jackson Waters, who she loves. Will fame make or break them?
Okay, I love Tucker, the dog! I believe most of you all know I’m obsessed with dogs and obsessed with my dog Riot. Anyway, I love how Tucker gets Sloan and Jason together. I loved the romance in this book. It did drive me a bit nuts with them being together or not being together. Overall, this was a cute, fun read and I cannot wait to read the next book.

Manu is an illegal living in Miami, FL. Her mother is arrested by ICE and her grandmother is attacked. She must run from her father’s crime lord family. She follows a clue from a Z emblem and enters a school of magic. There she doesn’t have magic or does she?
I thought this was an interesting concept. Her periods are connected by magic and I wanted to know more about that. I thought this book was just okay and not super special. There were times I wished for more magic or action.

Arlo is half Fae, half human, aka iron born. Vehan is a prince. Nausicaä was a fury who was exiled to earth. Aurelian is friends to Vehan. All of them get involved with something sinister. Humans are dying, but when they die they glow. What could be going on?
The writing was good and this was a good concept. However, there was problems with pacing. I found myself very bored because literally nothing really happens for 400 pages and this book is 499 pages. All of the characters are queer, but in the last few pages there is a kiss and that’s it. No romance really and I don’t see the point of pointing out they are queer. I like the diversity though, but I would have liked romance and them to explore their sexuality. I don’t think I’ll be reading the sequel.

The ley lines have awoken and nothing will be the same for any of them. Blue can’t kiss her true love or he will die in a years time.
I didn’t like The Raven Boys at all. I know, I know a ton of people love it. I wrote this series off back in 2017. Well, fast forward to now, 2021, I was scrolling through Libby and decided why not? So, here I am writing a review for this and can say I liked it. I liked the characters and I was really intrigued with the Gray Man.

It’s 1947 and after WWII. Charlie, a socialite goes to France with her mother to take care of her problem-to get an abortion since she is unmarried. Instead of getting an abortion, she runs off to London and meets Eve and Finn. The three of them search to see if Charlie’s cousin Rose is still alive. Rose disappeared from France during the time the Nazi’s were there. When we meet Eve, we go into her past when she was a spy in WWI.
I really enjoyed the dual timelines and seeing how these two women’s lives played out. I loved how there was the mystery about Rose, historical fiction, and some romance. This was well written, but I do think this book could have been shorter.

Will’s brother was murdered and he wants revenge. He tucks a gun in his waistband of his pants and all in one minute he makes a decision if he is going to kill or not.
I was browsing Libby and decided to pick the audiobook up since I heard great things about it. Also, it said it was a 2 hour listen, but I listen to audiobooks at 3x the speed because that’s the only way I can take in the story. Anyway, I finished my audiobook this morning and had to take Riot on his afternoon walk. I started this book right as we were heading out the door and finished it within 30 minutes of our 2 mile walk and we only took 39 minutes to walk the 2 miles. So, this book is short and is written in verse. I usually don’t like poetry, but I can stand in verse and I have read another profound book in verse when I was in high school called “Sold.” This book is definitely profound and is interesting to see what goes inside someone’s head for a minute with making a decision. Lastly, I really love that the author read this audiobook.

Ben takes Madec to go in the desert to shoot a bighorn sheep. Ben needs to do this because he needs money for college. Madec has everything he wants and is rich and influential. Madec shoots at something, but it is not a bighorn, but an old man and he has been shot three times. Ben wants to go to the police to tell them there was an accident, but Madec doesn’t want to do that. Instead, Ben must fight for his survival while naked and needs to find food, water, and to some how survive against crazy Madec.
I work as an aide with a student who has a disability. They have a practical English class and they were reading this in class. I was able to get a copy of the book each class period and I was able to read a long. I think this story is okay. I didn’t like the ending and felt bored during a lot of it since it is a survival story. I do like how Ben was strong and proactive.

This follows the events right after A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire. That’s all I’m going to say because then I would be getting into spoilers.
Now, wtf did I just read?! I think Jen may need to pay a therapy bill for me. This book was a rollercoaster and was so intense. She did not lie that this book starts out with a bang and I will say it goes out with a bang. There was a lot of twists in this book. I loved all the sweet moments between Cas and Poppy and I think they were needed with all the stuff that happens later on in the book. This book is definitely my favorite out of the series so far. This will make my favorite books of 2021, but I have to say it is my number one favorite so far. I can’t wait for ASITE in October and book 4 sometime next year even though I need it like now.

This is an Own Voices novel. Maya is Indian and Muslim. Her family is a tight knit family and worry for Maya. They have her dreams all laid out for her. They want her to marry a nice Indian boy and to go to a local college so she can be near by and become a lawyer. However, Maya has different dreams. She wants to go to NYU to study filmography since she loves making movies. She is confused if she date an Indian boy that her parents approve of or go for her crush, who isn’t Indian or Muslim. Her world comes to a halt when there is a terrorist attack and a Muslim is blamed, which leads to hate crimes towards her and her family.
I really enjoyed this. I loved the dreams Maya had and her trying to be proactive to achieve them. I liked the romance in this book. I did not like how controlling her family was, but at the same time I can see it being a culture thing, but still I wasn’t a fan of that. Definitely a fast read.

One empire has fallen and one has risen. For those have fallen will they be able to get back up and claim what is rightly theirs?
This is the second book and takes place after We Ride the Storm. This book felt more like a filler book to set up the final book. We have a new character in this book and then the other characters from the last book. I didn’t like Rah in the first book, but I actually liked him this time around. I liked how most of the characters are coming together and becoming connected. I did find this pretty slow.
