A Dark and Hollow Star
by Ashley Shuttleworth
Arlo is half Fae, half human, aka iron born. Vehan is a prince. Nausicaä was a fury who was exiled to earth. Aurelian is friends to Vehan. All of them get involved with something sinister. Humans are dying, but when they die they glow. What could be going on?
The writing was good and this was a good concept. However, there was problems with pacing. I found myself very bored because literally nothing really happens for 400 pages and this book is 499 pages. All of the characters are queer, but in the last few pages there is a kiss and that’s it. No romance really and I don’t see the point of pointing out they are queer. I like the diversity though, but I would have liked romance and them to explore their sexuality. I don’t think I’ll be reading the sequel.
