For many generations, ships were built with dragon bones to fight an endless war. However, the dragons have disappeared. Centuries later a dragon is spotted. Whoever can catch will get glory, but win the war.
First of all, I think this would have been way better to read physically instead of listening to it. Sometimes I found myself lost when I listened to the audiobook. The only reason I chose the audiobook because my library says the book is lost and I didn’t want to buy it. I did like the action in it. I will be reading the rest of the series and hopefully physically.

This book is told in verse. Camino and Yahaira both live in different countries and they both lose their father on a plane that crashes with no survivors. What they don’t know is that they are actually sisters and share the same father.
I really liked that this was in verse and the two point of views of the girls. I liked seeing the differences of their day to day lives. This book did grief well. I did find at times it was hard to remember what point of view we were in.

Davian was attacked 3 years ago as a servant. He used Essence and became a gifted. He was a servant at Caladel, but then became a student at the school. However, after that incident he finds he cannot summon Essence. In present day, the trials are about to start and if he cannot summon Essence, then he is to become a Shadow. He finds out the trials are to happen earlier than planned and an Elder comes to him in the middle of the night and tells him he must run from his fate and that he has bigger things that will happen in the future. He is told he is an Augur, which Davian was expecting since he cannot summon Essence and either gets headaches or sees black smoke come from someone’s mouth if they are lying. The boundary is being destroyed and Davian is needed to help fix it. On his way out to escaping, he runs into his friend Wirr and they escape to the north together. The next day, Asha wakes to a quiet school and finds everyone slaughtered expect for her. She becomes a Shadow against her will. Will everything be as it seems for these three?
This book is told in four point of views: Davian, Wirr, Asha, and Caedan. Caedan doesn’t have his memories and is said to have slaughtered a village, so he is trying to find his way and starts traveling with Davian and Wirr. I really liked the world building, the characters, and the adventure. I thought Essence, Kan, and the time traveling were amazing. This book has a lot of action and twists to it. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series, which I’m going to have to buy because the books are lost at my library.

It is Kansas 2065 and Adri has been selected to be a colonist on Mars. However, weeks before the launch she finds a journal of a girl who lived in her house in the 1930’s. This girl lived through the Dust Bowl and Adri needs to know what happened to her.
So, this book is told in three point of views. I wish we got more about the Electric. I found myself not connecting with the characters. It was definitely a short, fast read.

Kieran is back in Evelyn Bay for a week or so. He hasn’t been back in years and is trying to forget about the horrible accident that almost took his life, but also took his older brothers life. Plus, a girl went missing and was never found. While back with his girlfriend and baby, a girl is found dead by the ocean and the past comes rushing in.
This is definitely a slow burn mystery that piles on each other slowly. It was still interesting and you needed to know the daily things. I was totally wrong on the person who did it, which wasn’t a let down, but I wish the ending had shown the consequences of the after.

In every generation a Slayer is born. Nina and her twin Artemis are not normal. They go to a boarding school to learn how to be a Watcher for the Slayers. Nina has a hard time accepting being a Watcher and would rather heal people. She finds out she is a Slayer, but she is the last Slayer ever. Nina and Artemis’ father died protecting Buffy. Yes, that Buffy who is a vampire slayer.
I really liked the world and the characters. I didn’t get the Buffy part that much because I never watched the show, but at least I know she is a vampire slayer. I do feel like this story was slow.

Lila is from Miami and she wants to take her Abuela’s position as head baker, move in with her best friend after she graduates, and live happy ever after with her boyfriend. Well, things don’t go as planned and her mental health takes a hit. Her family sends her to England for three months. The food and atmosphere is lacking, there is no sun, and the head cook is a grump. However, she meets Orion and everything changes.
I loved that this book makes you so hungry. The romance was cute. I loved her passion for cooking/baking and wanting to change traditions up. I loved the mental health part of this book. It’s a cute, fast read.

Corayne is a pirate’s daughter and wants to go on adventure with her mother. She believes she can do a lot of good for her mother and her mother’s crew, but her mother wants her to stay where she is to be safe. She is found by an immortal and an assassin. Soon later they find themselves with a sorceress, a bounty hunter, and a squire. Corayne is the last of an ancient line and the rag tag team are finding away to save their realm before the Queen and the Prince Consort destroy it.
I have read Red Queen, Glass Sword, and a bit of King’s Cage (I really need to finish it) before I read Realm Breaker, so I am familiar with Victoria Aveyard’s work. I loved this book more than the Red Queen series and I feel like this series is going to be epic. This book is described as a High Fantasy compared to her other work. I will admit this book has a slower pace and I typically don’t like slow books, but I still enjoyed it. I love the world building and the history of all the places we see the characters go. I love all the point of views and I’m use to a ton of point of views with all the adult fantasy I’ve been reading. My favorite character is Sorasa and she is totally a bad ass assassin. I love the villain romance between Erida and Taristan and I totally want to see more of them and their evil demise. Lastly, the banter between Sorasa and Dom was just great. Totally pick up this book!

Vanessa is a travel blogger, but her nineteen, half sister one days leaves her newborn daughter with Vanessa to run an errand and never comes back. Adrian is a lawyer and only sees his girlfriend once a month for a weekend. One night he is trying to sleep and just kept hearing a baby cry. He pounded on his neighbors door and notices she is a mess, so he decides to help her. Once he helps her, he goes back to his apartment and his girlfriend drops a bombshell on him and they break up. From then on, him and Vanessa hang out together and Grace is always soothed by Adrian. They must remain friends because Vanessa does not know how much time she has left. She has a fifty percent chance of getting ALS because it runs heavily in her family-especially for females.
I really love Abby’s work. All the books in this series are amazing and are connected in someway. I loved the awareness this spreads for ALS along with disabilities. The friendship and then the romance with Adrian and Vanessa are just amazing and super cute. The banter was hilarious. I love the bond with Grace and Adrian. The family drama was great too and I loved the issues with them and how they worked it out. This book was definitely great and I recommend for all of you to pick up The Friend Zone series, you won’t regret it.

This book is about two families who are strangers to one another. Amanda and Clay go out for a weekend with their teenage children to Long Island and are wanting a vacation. However, one night the owners of the house come knocking on the door saying there is a blackout in New York City. But, what are they to believe with no tv and cell service being down? Should the couples trust one another?
I liked hearing about the families. However, I feel like this book is forgettable and was just boring. Not much really happened.
