This book had me from the first sentence! So relatable as a mom . This one is a lighthearted murder mystery where everything seems to go wrong but it comes around . The characters are so relatable especially Finlay as a mom. Although the decision making is all wrong and can irritate you , you will still read and cheer for the MC. The last twist had me reeling though !
This was an author who I had heard so many good things about and this introduction to his writing did not disappoint! I recently read a similar story line of the past coming back to cause trouble and it wasn’t my favorite but this was well executed. The characters were well developed . The story had good pacing and the identity of the murderer(s) was a constant mystery that was not easily solved.
Great little summer read. I adored the nostalgia I got from this book. A favorite game from my youth ,assassin, being the tying factor between all the characters was so fun. I genuinely wanted to jump into the story and play along with them . There is a summer love story woven into this but it’s not too graphic or intense. The primary focus is the fmc and her family coping with the loss of her sister while trying to celebrate a family wedding , mending friendships and finding a new normalcy .
The story was written well. The imagery of the island is so vivid & real. It’s a story that leaves you smiling .

This can be a bit of a hard read due to some of the content and language but it is only used to provide authenticity to the setting & time period. Unfortunately, this story is all too real when you think of those who let hate rule their heart. Wanda Morris is wonderful at creating vivid imagery and characters so well developed you can envision their lives. Her pacing is well done a balanced approach to heart thumping and slow burn. I look forward to reading more by Morris in the future.
This was a bit of a wild ride ! Although they have been recommended to me before , this is actually the first I’ve read by this author duo. I can see why they are a popular writing team . Multiple POVs keep you on your toes in this book . Although the beginning can be a bit slow as the accident unfolds and Shay begins to cope with witnessing such a horrific event , by the end you will be turning pages into the wee hours trying to fit the last puzzle pieces together. I adored the added “Data entries” at the start of new chapters ! Such a unique and fun touch . The self reflection & identification the MC has with the victim is an added creepy aura surrounding you while you read. This is a book where you have to discover new clues alongside the main character to try and solve the full mystery of what is happening/has happened. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND you check trigger warnings prior to reading this novel since there are quite a few big ones.
I read this in a single day because you just wanted to see how things would escalate and unravel. As a mother you would do ANYTHING to protect and save your child’s life but what about after they die. How far would you go to seek revenge in your grief? That is the premise of this book and it is such a great concept . Although Camille’s daughter has been gone for nearly 5 years , she cannot feel a sense of closure or peace while the boy who caused her daughter’s death is free and living a privileged lifestyle before her eyes. In the midst of her desperation she connects with a new support group for bereaved mothers whose children never got justice. However, after joining the support group odd things & outrageous asks begin to come her way and she has to make the decision of where exactly she feels a moral boundary .
Some parts may be slightly graphic for some readers as the authors writing is very vivid . This book will make you have goosebumps as you question your own moral boundaries and start to feel like someone is truly always watching you .

Not my favorite execution of this type of story line . This one was a bit of a slow burn for me . I feel like the ending saved this from being a 3 star primarily due to a change in pacing and finally some twists. I did love the reminders from this book that everyone has a skeleton in their closet and a past that may not always be quite what you expected .
The introduction of a certain two characters felt very rushed and brief . I don’t feel like their backstory addition was sufficient enough to feel necessary or beneficial to the story . I do love this author but this one didn’t have the same thrill as their other works for me .

A kitschy little whodunnit with an endearing family dynamic. A snooty Grandmother in a health crisis , a single artsy Mom working to make ends meet & a spunky teen daughter looking to gain independence all find themselves living together in a tiny island home . As if tensions aren’t high enough the teenager finds herself the suspect in a murder and the family works together to prove her innocence.
This one was a bit slower than what I expected and while the mystery is a cozy whodunnit, the star of the show is the family learning to work through their dysfunctional ways to save each other .

This was nearly a 3 star for me for many reasons . I rounded up to four due to the uptick in pace as multiple theories became prominent. Personally I found the wordiness of the first part a bit much and I didn’t feel as though all of it added to the plot in the long run . I also did not love the bread crumbs to insinuate a paranormal aspect not my cup of tea personally. The writing itself was fine I might try a different novel by her to see if I can really get into her writing without plot deterrents .
I was so hesitant going into this book because I did not realize it was written like a script . The format made it hard to really get into for the first couple of chapters but it was a wild ride after that. So many plot twists as each character introduced has their secrets revealed . While I did very early on make a guess to the real killer the reveal not coming til the last bit still made me question myself . I love the nod to social media sleuths and the subtle way it brings questions to their information credibility etc.
