I absolutely love finding new-to-me authors, especially when they come recommended by a trusted book blogger!  I'm thrilled that Sara @ Novel Novice virtually connected me with Inara Scott!

The first book in a new series of interconnected romances, Heartbreaker is an adorable contemporary romance that gave me all the feels.

At present, I am a romantic comedy junkie -- I can't get enough of it!  This book has all the things I love:  a fun meet-cute, lovable characters, and loads of laughs.

The premise is really fun!  We've got a bad boy with a soft heart and a fish out of water, both hiding behind their own walls till a 200-pound invalid Mastiff helps to bring them down by bringing the two together.  The power of the pup, y'all...it's real!

So, let's talk about Mason and Tess BECAUSE I ADORE THEM!!! Mason is sexy and massively successful and he knows it, but as much as he comes across cocky and self-assured, he cares more than most realize and absolutely has insecurities.  Tess wasn't dealt an easy hand in life.  She has made mistakes and faced heartache.  She has worked hard, though, to build a life of her own -- a good life -- and doesn't want to risk any of it for the guy who hired her to dog-sit his sister's giant, untrained dog.  Mason and Tess have undeniable chemistry and I could not get enough of their push and pull!

Overall, I really enjoyed Heartbreaker and would recommend it to fellow rom com lovers!  I'm excited to see more of the Bad Angels series down the road.

Overall, this series is just not for me. It has its moments, but more often than not, I wasn't a fan. I also cannot stand Feyre!

This book in particular, I felt like I lost a huge part of Rhys that I loved in the first two books, and I'm not chalking it up to "character development." And for a book about an impending war with 'mighty armies grappling for power,' I thought there was a very low percent of actual war 🤷‍♀️
It's quite predictable and too neat for me.

To each their own, though! I adore Throne of Glass (it's my favorite series), but ACOTAR isn't my jam.

The Hookup Handbook is a sexy, fun contemporary romance that I *may* have finished in one sitting!

You get angst, chemistry, sprinkles or humor, and characters worth swooning over! Told in the dual POVs of our main characters, Case and Sienna, this book flows in the easy manner that readers have come to know from Kendall.

The Hookup Handbook is the second book in the Escort, Inc. series — a series of standalones. Readers met Case in the first book, Boyfriend for Hire. Case comes off a bit…rough…at the beginning of this book. I know from reading the first book that he really is a good guy, though. He runs his own successful male escort business where he is one of the busiest escorts. In addition, he is thirty days away from a deadline for the book he is supposed to be writing about sex and intimacy, but he is on the struggle bus with that. As the story progresses, and with the help of the heroine, you get to see the good in Case reemerge.

Sienna is the awkward, slightly nerdy little sister of Case’s best buddy, Ryder, and she is trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life. She is helping around the office of the escort service for the summer, and she and Case don’t exactly hit it off well to begin.

I wouldn’t call this an angsty story, but there is definitely angst present which lends to a bit of a slow burn. You get that touch of forbidden romance with Sienna being Case’s best friend’s younger sibling, but I think that only adds to the chemistry. By the way, the chemistry is off the charts, and the tension and banter is so great! Case and Sienna end up helping each other in more ways than they realize. Case is more thoughtful than you’d expect, but it helps Sienna gain some confidence that she is lacking. And Sienna helps give Case a bit of perspective on his life. I just love these two together!

Overall, I really enjoyed this book, as I do every Kendall Ryan book! It’s such a good combination of steamy and sweet! I do wish it was a little longer, because I would have loved to see more of Case and Sienna as “Case and Sienna.”

Warrior of the Wild is a fun YA Fantasy standalone that reads fast and is sure to leave you with a smile on your face.

This is my first experience reading something by Tricia Levenseller, and I was pretty pleased by it. Her writing is effortless, giving it a light feel. It did seem a bit too young to me, but that happens sometimes because I’m a 34 year old reader of YA literature!

I found the world to be fascinating! A large part of the intrigue with this book was the Viking inspiration. I enjoyed reading about the villages and how their politics and culture played a role.

The characters are not as complex as I would have liked, but I still enjoyed the cast. The star of this book, in my opinion, is the character growth of Rasmira. By finding true friendship and working together to complete the impossible quests, she developed into a stronger, more determined, independent woman that I found myself rooting for.

Overall, I enjoyed Warrior of the Wild and would recommend it to YA Fantasy fans who like quick reads with a unique adventure and a dash of romance.

I adore Christina Lauren! This dynamic duo always leaves me smiling at the end of their books, and Roomies was no exception.

Christina Lauren writes so seamlessly, which impresses me since they are a writing pair. Roomies is a standalone contemporary romance told in the first-person POV of our leading lady, Holland, featuring a marriage of convenience. The pacing is decent, though it started a bit slow and I didn’t find it as “unputdownable” as some of their other works.

Roomies is simply a sweet story. Things are not all sunshine and rainbows, but the bad times mixed with the good is what made this story so endearing.

Two things I wish it had more of: humor and steam. There is some banter and wit but not enough for me to feel like this is a romantic comedy. And what can I say…I like sexy times in books! With this book, you get much more of the emotional chemistry than the physical.

Holland is such a relatable character, and she has amazing development across the story. She is, by far, my favorite part of this book! I actually really liked all of the characters, side ones included.

Overall, I would recommend Roomies! It’s not the rom com I was expecting, but it is still a fun, cute story by a fantastic writing pair.

Jenn Bennett knocks it out of the park again with her latest release, Serious Moonlight.

Jenn is an auto-buy author for me. Her writing is just so effortless and her story-telling is phenomenal!

This standalone YA Contemporary is told in the first-person POV of our heroine, Birdie. You get a teenage romance intertwined with a fun mystery for a ridiculously cute story. It is quirky and unique, as are all of Jenn’s books.

These characters are everything. Birdie is 100% relatable and Daniel is the sweetest! They are flawed and real but completely charming. Their relationship is awkward and adorable; I just couldn’t get enough of these two!

Overall, I absolutely recommend Serious Moonlight to fans of Jenn Bennett’s previous works or light YA Contemporary in general. I will always be happy to pick up Jenn’s books, and now I’ll eagerly await her next release!

Baby Mine, book one in the Hunter & Lennon Roomate Duet, is an emotional ride by writing duo, Kennedy Fox.

I love Kennedy Fox! These ladies perpetually give me all the feels, loads of angst & swoons, and flawed characters I can’t get enough of. And I just knew I was going to enjoy this book after reading their free novella that introduces the Roomate Duet Series, Forever Mine.

The story is amazing! Baby Mine has great wit, banter, ANGST, heartache, and sexy times. I was a little wary when I first read the synopsis. I guess I was a bit worried how believable it (mostly Hunter and Lennon’s relationship after Brandon) would come across. Kennedy Fox did their thing, though, and not only made it seem plausible but did it with conviction — I was feeling everything!

And, OF COURSE, they dropped had a nice, big CLIFF HANGER at the end (it’s okay, though, because readers don’t have to wait long before the next book)!

As for the characters, my heart ached for every one of them! I can’t even imagine what it would be like to be in Hunter’s shoes; to sit back and watch your best friend with the girl you want. He acted like a bonehead more than once, but can you blame him?! Lennon is blind to Hunter’s feelings, probably because he does such a good job of pushing her away. Then add the loss of Hunter’s best friend/Lennon’s boyfriend/their roommate, Brandon! Brandon is very likeable, too, so my heart broke at his death. These are exactly the flawed but fabulous characters I have grown to love from KF.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this book if you love angsty, sexy, heart-wrenching stories! I would like to suggest reading Forever Mine beforehand because it sets up the series nicely, though it’s not necessary to begin this duet. I can’t wait to see what’s coming Hunter and Lennon’s way in book two!

Do you ever finally read a book after hearing about forever and just want to kick yourself for not reading it sooner?! Because THIS BOOK HERE, you guys, is it for me!

Geekerella released in 2017 around the time I discovered bookstagram and was contemplating starting my own. After two years of seeing it everywhere with rave reviews, I “caved” and read it. I cannot believe I waited so long to read this book because I absolutely loved it!

This was my first experience reading Ashley Poston, but it won’t be my last! Her writing is charismatic and has an ease I really enjoyed.

The story is so freakin’ cute! As the name implies, it’s a geeky twist on Cinderella, and Ashley did such an amazing job blending modern pop culture with a classic tale. I’m honestly not a fan of retellings, which is probably a large reason why I put off reading this book, but it’s so fun and perfect for all of us fangirls! And, of course, the romance is super adorable!

The characters are absolutely phenomenal! I still got the Cinderella vibes, yet the characters are unique and interesting! I couldn’t help but see a bit of old high school me in Elle, and I can only wish that I had a friend like Sage.

Overall, I absolutely recommend Geekerella to YA Contemporary fans who are looking for a cute, fun read. Seriously, guys, don’t be like me! If you haven’t read this book, FIX THAT!
