Do you ever finally read a book after hearing about forever and just want to kick yourself for not reading it sooner?! Because THIS BOOK HERE, you guys, is it for me!
Geekerella released in 2017 around the time I discovered bookstagram and was contemplating starting my own. After two years of seeing it everywhere with rave reviews, I “caved” and read it. I cannot believe I waited so long to read this book because I absolutely loved it!
This was my first experience reading Ashley Poston, but it won’t be my last! Her writing is charismatic and has an ease I really enjoyed.
The story is so freakin’ cute! As the name implies, it’s a geeky twist on Cinderella, and Ashley did such an amazing job blending modern pop culture with a classic tale. I’m honestly not a fan of retellings, which is probably a large reason why I put off reading this book, but it’s so fun and perfect for all of us fangirls! And, of course, the romance is super adorable!
The characters are absolutely phenomenal! I still got the Cinderella vibes, yet the characters are unique and interesting! I couldn’t help but see a bit of old high school me in Elle, and I can only wish that I had a friend like Sage.
Overall, I absolutely recommend Geekerella to YA Contemporary fans who are looking for a cute, fun read. Seriously, guys, don’t be like me! If you haven’t read this book, FIX THAT!
