I love reading about Irish myths and fairy encounters, and this trilogy is such a fantastic modern setting for those old stories to come to life again. This last book is the perfect ending for the trilogy! Plenty of twists and turns in the plot, and simply brilliant writing. Nothing is ever quite what it seems in the beginning, and even a second look is twisted by fairy glamour.
I loved revisiting some old characters, seeing them grown up, and I loved the new characters as well.
The puca continues to creep me out, and Aidan Liddy with his demon-temper continues to freak me out. I adore Jenny, so calm and sweet, even with all her power. It was wonderful being inside Donal's head again, always generous and looking out for everyone. And poor JJ is just as funny and darling as ever!

I love fairy tale retellings (if they're done right) and this one was enchanting! Usually I don't like the retellings that are set in the modern day, but this one was just delightful. I loved that it is told from the Beast's POV, and his whole background story is perfection.
Really imaginative writing, and every character stands out as a true person.
It was interesting to see Kendra, the witch, taking such a central part in the unfolding of the story.
Linda makes a delightful Belle, especially since both names mean "beautiful" in Spanish and French. Her character is plucky and wistful and full of wonder and potential. Seeing her through the Beast's eyes makes the reader fall in love with her as he does.
I liked the way the author balances the original story with these new elements, making it familiar yet fresh and new.

Excellent sequel to the first book in this trilogy! I was so glad to see more of Red's backstory, and to revisit my favorite characters and scenes. This book shows the gritty underbelly of Faerie stories, changelings/ kidnapping, murder, revenge, starvation in captivity. Red is so jaded and hardened by everything she has seen and done; it makes her a fascinating character. We also see the charming and pretty side of the Faerie world though, and the writing reflects that enchantment.
This book is just boiling with intrigue! The intense plot twists kept me up all night reading. And when I finished, I just felt stunned. Fantastic writing! All of the mysteries of the first book are cleared away one by one, and I loved seeing the characters changing and growing through their circumstances. The action is non-stop in this book with plenty of drama.
I am disappointed that Laura has sex with her boyfriend; both disappointed in the author and in Laura as a main character. I can see why it was necessary to the plot, but couldn't they have secretly eloped first or something? Laura's entire character is so complex and mysterious. She's really a drifting soul already, and so this plot point did not help at all. It could have been handled much better.

This dazzling retelling of Scarlet Pimpernel is just fantastic! The intrigue and spying, the romance and complex characters, and the absolutely incredible world-building all come together seamlessly to create a beautiful story.
I adore Persis' character! The way she has to pretend to be stupid when she's actually incredibly intelligent really resonated with me.
It was delightful seeing some similarities with Scarlet Pimpernel, but the differences were so fresh and unique. It all just fit together really well.
Can't wait to read more from this author!

This book reads more like a history book rather than a novel. I enjoy it more each time I read it though, mainly because I can remember more of the characters names and relationships, so I understand it better. I love the high-old-fashioned epic style! It's so incredible to see all this background and history for LoTR, and all the depth and richness of this world!
Just... WOW. Oh my goodness, I LOVE this book so much! I want to read it over and over and over. I picked this up at a library book sale last year, never knowing what a hidden gem it would turn out to be! The cover may look rather generic, but the story blew me away! My brain exploded, and my heart grew about 10 sizes bigger, and my soul is refreshed and energized!
Aside from the dynamic characters, the twisting plot, the action-packed scenes, the brilliant writing, and the imaginative setting, the thing I loved most was "The Call". That's my own term to describe the feeling a book gives when you are called up to join something higher and more glorious than yourself and your life. It makes you want to be a better person, be braver, be smarter, be kinder, fight for what is good and right, and it fills you with a feeling of purpose. "The Call" happens when a story mirrors some aspect of "THE Story," and this book was a beautiful allegory of the Bible story.
Right from the beginning it was obvious that the story of good vs. evil was lifted straight from spiritual history, but it never felt preachy or forced.
This is a tale on the level with Narnia, Lord of the Rings, and Pilgrim's Progress! I can't wait to read the rest of this trilogy!

A wonderful fairy tale that has all the magical elements I love, but with a different twist that makes it entirely new and extraordinary! Not a regular fairy tale. The characters are all so complex, and I love how secretive they all are, so that you find out about them bit by bit. The whole story is imaginative and interesting with fast-paced action and discovery. I love it! Can't wait to read the sequel!
I read this after having seen the anime movie, so the whole time I was picturing the way things happened in the movie, which is slightly different especially at the end. The book explains things much better and in more detail, of course, so I was glad to have some of the magical connections explained more clearly.
The only bit I didn't like is when the characters travel to Wales. It didn't fit with the rest of the story at all.

I was very pleased with this enchanting story! The characters are endearing and the plot is interesting and full of action. I love the character development of the heroine! The descriptions of selkie life under the sea are amazingly detailed and realistic. Wonderful brilliant writing all through!
I wish that the magical setting had been better explained though. I was never quite sure what WERE the parameters of the magical nature of the story world. Why did this magical thing happen at that particular moment and where did it come from? No explanation or reason is given sometimes, and it is a bit confusing.

My heart has been broken and sewn together so many times now reading this book. The writing is absolutely exquisite! I love every original character, and especially the wonderful Sorcha. The plot is just woven together in such intricate delightful detail, until every thread of it shines with meaning. The camaraderie between the brothers and their sister is lovely.
I was completely absorbed in the story, and couldn't put it down. I was gripping the book so hard that the ink started to come off on my hands. I gasped in terror, and cried, and laughed right along with the characters in the book.
I love every single brother so much. It's amazing how, right from the beginning, even though there are 6 of them, each has his own original and memorable personality. I never once had to stop and think, "Wait, which brother is this again?" I remembered them all easily. Now, that is good writing!
I adore this entire story! Well, maybe not the entire story.....
