A wonderful fairy tale that has all the magical elements I love, but with a different twist that makes it entirely new and extraordinary! Not a regular fairy tale. The characters are all so complex, and I love how secretive they all are, so that you find out about them bit by bit. The whole story is imaginative and interesting with fast-paced action and discovery. I love it! Can't wait to read the sequel!

I read this after having seen the anime movie, so the whole time I was picturing the way things happened in the movie, which is slightly different especially at the end. The book explains things much better and in more detail, of course, so I was glad to have some of the magical connections explained more clearly.
The only bit I didn't like is when the characters travel to Wales. It didn't fit with the rest of the story at all.
