I love fairy tale retellings (if they're done right) and this one was enchanting! Usually I don't like the retellings that are set in the modern day, but this one was just delightful. I loved that it is told from the Beast's POV, and his whole background story is perfection.
Really imaginative writing, and every character stands out as a true person.

It was interesting to see Kendra, the witch, taking such a central part in the unfolding of the story.
Linda makes a delightful Belle, especially since both names mean "beautiful" in Spanish and French. Her character is plucky and wistful and full of wonder and potential. Seeing her through the Beast's eyes makes the reader fall in love with her as he does.
I liked the way the author balances the original story with these new elements, making it familiar yet fresh and new.
