This book was just what I needed to get my reading mojo back after falling into a reading slump. It was sexy, sweet, heartwarming and full of

A feisty and fun plus size fashion blogger on a reality dating show! Cue the sexy suitors, fantasy dates, kiss off rejections and a behind the scenes look at the manipulations surrounding reality tv and you have one entertaining and addictive read. ⁣

I LOVE reality tv so as soon as I read the premise for

5 heart wrenching stars for this tough read about grooming, assault, abuse and how women are treated when they come forward with allegations. Grown is a heart wrenching but important read and unfortunately extremely relevant.

A hockey obsessed town in need of a boost, a junior team on the cusp of competing in the national semifinals and a violent act that rips the town apart, pitting neighbor against neighbor. ⁣

Oh, Backman how you have captured my heart! The residents of Beartown captured me and still haven’t let go. What an emotional read! I left this unread because I’m not a sports fan and I doubted a book centered around hockey could hold my attention. Boy was I wrong! I’m so glad I finally gave this one a try. If you haven’t read this yet - do it! You’re missing out. ⁣

This wasn’t easy subject matter to tackle as it deals with rape but Backman writes with so much heart that even in the face of violence, despair and ugliness we are filled with hope. His characters are so vivid and human. He has such a knack for bringing light to all the gray areas of our morals and emotions. ⁣

I loved this book and am looking forward to reading

Another fantasy series with a kick ass woman & hot guy! Throw in some paranormal elements, a dash of magic, a bit of danger and a sprinkling of mystery and you’ve got me hooked!

After a bit of a slow start this one really pulled me in. I loved Poppy and need I even say it - Hawke.

A small town with emotions running high as old battle young and a killer clown determined to wipe the slate clean. ⁣

The first 1/3 of the book started off slow, setting the stage but the last 2/3 of the book was non stop action or maybe I should say non-stop slaughter! ⁣

This isn’t for sensitive readers - it’s full of gratuitous violence. It was like a horror movie playing out on the page. I could see it all in my head and it totally gave me a nightmare. I mean there are killer clowns, a cornfield in the middle of nowhere and no one around to help. That’s a sure sign of a fun horror story! ⁣

This one had some fun, unexpected twists which I really appreciated since I had the main angle figured out. I could see this being a movie - homicidal clowns are so damn creepy!

3.5 stars A famous private school in Vermont for the brightest thinkers, inventors and artists is also home to one of the greatest unsolved crimes in history. Years later a new student arrives determined to solve the case and stumbles upon more murder & mystery instead. ⁣

I had high hopes for this book after seeing people sing this series’ praises. While I won’t say I was disappointed, it definitely wasn’t as exciting as I expected it to be. ⁣

This is a case where book 1 sets everything up for books 2 and 3 which is definitely where the action awaits me - right?! I enjoyed the main character Stevie Bell. She’s a true crime aficionado, a bit quirky and I found her quite endearing. ⁣

I’m interested in unraveling the mystery of the kidnapping/disappearance of the school founder’s wife and daughter as well as all the subsequent “accidents” that have taken place at the school. Is it the continued work of

I enjoy an unreliable narrator story and this was definitely that. Eva Hansen wakes up in a hospital after being struck by lightning and is told that her Mother, Katherine has been murdered. Eva was found unconscious on the street not far away and is now being questioned by the police. With no memory of that night, Eva must learn the truth behind her mother's death in order to prove her innocence.

Told in 2 POV's both of Eva and Katherine, we slowly begin to unravel the truth of the faithful night, along with many hidden secrets. While I was definitely kept guessing by the twists I felt like it was a bit too much at times. I enjoyed this one and it definitely kept me entertained but I didn't love it as much as I enjoyed the author's previous book - The Night Olivia Fell, which felt much more plausible and definitely tugged at my heartstrings.

3.5 stars (rounded down)

3.5 rounded up to 4

A sudden move to a decrepit old house on an isolated island off the coast of Maine in the dead of winter. The house and the move offer an escape from problems but soon Sadie finds herself face to face with even bigger ones.

Inheriting a house from a sister who has committed suicide and leaves behind a teenager to care for isn't easy but Sadie and Will could use the fresh start. Sadie has recently resigned from her job at a hospital after some trouble and she suspects her husband Will is having an affair.

Once the family moves in the real psychological thrills begin to unfold. I enjoyed the narration and it definitely added to my sense of anxiety over the twists. This was a wild ride as watch the 2 worlds of this family collide and combust - affecting everyone in its wake. While I do enjoy the psychological aspects that Kubica expertly weaves into the book and the fact that it dealt with some heavy topics like suicide, abuse and mental health, I couldn't rate this higher because I had it figured out early on.

I enjoyed the eerie atmosphere and the overall quick pacing of the story but while it was entertaining, the story simply didn't wow me the way I had hoped it would.

A character driven novel involving drug factions at war, a shooting, a treasure hunt, a mystery and even a touch of romance. ⁣

This is the kind of book you have to surrender yourself to. For about the entire first half of the book I felt like I had no idea where everything was headed, but I went with it and I'm so glad I did. ⁣

We are dropped into the middle of Five Ends Baptist Church and its community. The residents are an eclectic bunch and I often found myself smiling or shaking my head at the things they said or did. It’s the kind of community that stands together, looking out for each other, watching each other’s children, celebrating each other’s successes and commiserating over the hardships. The more I listened (I did the audio), the more they won me over. Plus, they have nicknames like Sportcoat, Pudgy Fingers, The Elephant and Hot Sausage - even the names make you smile, don’t they!
