There was really no question whether I was going to love this or not. One of my favorite Campaign Two moments (and there are a bunch..) is when Liam surprised Laura with an original story for her character, Jester - Der Katzenprinz. There's just something about Liam's storytelling that feels like a warm hug (with shadows of darkness lurking that he's protecting you from). I could read a million stories from Liam and I so so hope he continues to share his literary talent with us.
Also - the illustrations are beyond gorgeous and I expect nothing less from the Critical Role Team.

Went in expecting a silly goofy time (it's a book about a corporate Grim Reaper, I mean come on) and came out having experienced, yes a little silly, but also extremely touching story about a woman learning how to open herself up and a boy just wanting to be loved.
One of my favorite things about A Grim Reaper's Guide to Catching a Killer is that our main characters are completely normal and yet they experience amazing things (shocking I know). These aren't young, gorgeous model types with ridiculous powers out to save the world; Kathy, Simon, Jo, and yes, even Connor, are completely average individuals and yet the impact they have on each other is astounding.
Definitely recommend for anyone that loves cozy mystery with a helping of heartfelt.

While portions were interesting I really don't have any interest in learning about the NEHC and, for such a short book, the topic took up a lot of the content. The information about the devotional practices/recommendation was really all I was looking for as I already feel pretty familiar with the myths/stories of Loki and Sigyn.
This could be a decent 'mid-beginner book' but definitely covers more UPG than I would typically recommend to a beginner in the Norse paganism.

Interesting but I wasn't expecting so much discussion on the religious implications of the discovery of dinosaurs. It makes sense - just not what I was looking for.

I really didn't go into this book expecting to dislike one of the characters so much - especially Helen of Sparta/Troy. I'm not sure if it was the time jumping, the dual POVs, or just the characters themselves that made it difficult to connect with the story but I really couldn't connect to either sister.
As a character-driven book with little plot (there is some but if you are familiar with the story, you'll already know what is coming) I really need to connect to at least one character to keep my interest.

WWII historical fiction is what got me back into reading as an adult and historical fantasy is my favorite genre blend, so I figured this was going to be an easy win. While there are portions of the story that I found interesting, I felt disconnected from the story and characters throughout the book. Based on both the title and the synopsis, I assumed going in that the Bayeux Tapestry was going to be a greater part of the narrative but it really didn't come up as a plot point until 60% into the story; prior to that, we were following two of the four Sharp sisters the majority of the time and the narrative was jumping around so much that I stopped trying to understand what year we were in.
Unfortunately, The Tapestry of Time was a bit of a miss for me.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first three books in the Whimbrel House series, and while I adore Owein as a character, a fourth book felt entirely unnecessary after the conclusion of Boy of Chaotic Making but I was willing to give this a chance. Unfortunately, it felt unnecessary throughout, especially given the nature of our 'villain' for this story and the random love triangle.
I do love the author's writing and the book is by no means bad - I just personally feel as if knowing when to call it the end is important to not dragging out a story 'just because'.

Interesting in a bizarre way - not quite sure what I read tbh (but I also feel like that's the point?).

I'm not sure what I was expecting when I jumped into Juniper & Thorn but the atmosphere Reid created really pulled me into the story. The tone was dark and haunting and I found myself thinking about Marlinchen when I wasn't reading - which is always a good sign! I enjoyed the dynamic between our FMC and the ballerina and quickly grew to despise the many villains within the story (they really were everywhere...). I thought the representation for trauma and PTSD were done well also.
Unfortunately, I did find the ending to fall a little flat, but I can't really point out exactly why. Overall, pretty fun and great creepy atmosphere.
