I thoroughly enjoyed the first three books in the Whimbrel House series, and while I adore Owein as a character, a fourth book felt entirely unnecessary after the conclusion of Boy of Chaotic Making but I was willing to give this a chance. Unfortunately, it felt unnecessary throughout, especially given the nature of our 'villain' for this story and the random love triangle.

I do love the author's writing and the book is by no means bad - I just personally feel as if knowing when to call it the end is important to not dragging out a story 'just because'.
