3.5 ⭐ I was really excited to jump straight into this from Vow of the Shadow King and while I enjoyed the book, there was so much miscommunication (or no communication at all) that really got on my nerves - the most irritated of which occurred when Vor was questioning Faraine about her controlling his emotions and she didn't even bother trying to explain Maylin's influence and direction. She was soooo strong this book and then all of sudden she couldn't be bothered to try to explain what happened while he was gone?!?
After that fiasco, the plot started to get better and I enjoyed the outcome and resolution and honestly I'm just happy that Hael survived. I wouldn't mind a Hael/Theodore book either 👀

3.5 ⭐ as soon as I finished Bride of the Shadow King I immediately wanted to go into the second of the trilogy. I really loved the pacing and back and forth POVs that we got (although I do kinda wish we got the POV of Hael also because girl was going through it). The only thing that brought it down for me was that Faraine didn't even try to explain that she was forced into the deception by her father. Like girl...JUST SAY SOMETHING. Although this wasn't full miscommunication, it still irked me.
I'm excited to hop right into the next one though now that we have more information about what's happening in the world and that somehow Vor's mother is involved.

I was really enjoying this audiobook until about 60% but it gradually started to lose me and I found myself only listening to just get it over with. I love medical/science history and I think the Kean did a decent job exploring the ethics of medicine and its scientists. HOWEVER I could not take the (what felt like constant) podcast plugs by the author. I think it was even more jarring due to listening to it rather than reading physically. Maybe I could have ignored it better that way, but towards the end I swore if I heard one more plug I was going to lose it.
Overall, I liked it. Not my favorite medical/science history book, but decent enough.

3.5 ⭐ This was quite fun. Although Fae in a sense, I liked how the Trolde were portrayed differently than typically Fae beings. The world-building was done quite well and while there was a ton of information, it never felt like info-dumping. Although a fairly large book, I made it through in practically one sitting because it kept my attention so strongly.
I'm very interested to see where the next in the series goes - especially with the cliffhanger at the end.

I'm still not sure I 100% understand what was going on, but the vibes were fantastic. This has been sitting on my shelf since it was released and I've attempted to start it several times. I was determined to make this the time it stuck - and finally it did 👏🏻 I really loved the writing/journal entry style of story telling and the descriptions really were quite beautiful.

3.5 ⭐ I started the series back in 2021 and I have no idea why I didn't continue. It's unbelievable how much world building, plot, and character development McGuire can squeeze into so few pages.
I enjoyed this one but I think it's also been a while since I've been in the series that I don't necessarily remember enough to love it.

I'd auto-buy Harrow's to-do list if she published it.
I absolutely loved this story (hence the 5 ⭐ rating) and was instantly drawn in with the most beautiful prose, vivid descriptions, and eerie storytelling. The characters are raw, emotional, loveable and punchable, and believable, from the breathing to the not-so breathing. I'm not a fan of horror, so I appreciate the spooky and creepy vibes that the story holds; I can see what fans of horror might be missing with this, but it hit just the right spot for me.
Harrow is auto-buy and auto-love every time.

Oh man I haven't pulled an all nighter to read in a while, but I just couldn't put this down. I'm a sucker for multiple timeline stories and Weyward did not disappoint. Each character's voice was entirely unique and I loved each story and couldn't wait to get back to each of the Weyward women.
Their stories were heavy on trauma, and while it wasn't explicit, with the way Hart wrote, you could feel the pain come off the page. Having experienced some of these traumas, it made me connect with the characters at a level I wasn't expecting, connecting with their trauma, pain, and resilience. Especially when we got to Kate's decision regarding her baby, knowing the risk and trying to be strong again.
This story was beautiful. I'd highly recommend someone look at the trigger warnings prior to reading though as they really come up quick.

This is my first L.J. Andrews book and I went into this knowing that there were 5+ others set in this universe but that this could be read as a standalone. I was a little confused during the world building but it wasn't too long before it started to make sense for the most part.
While the romance develops quickly, it doesn't feel too unbelievable and I like the dynamic between Livia and Erik. The plot itself was interesting and I definitely want to read the second in this duology.

Officially done with reading Introductions before reading the book. While wonderfully written, the introduction completely spoiled the book. If I hadn't read the introduction, I think it would have felt more connected to the story.
