This is my first L.J. Andrews book and I went into this knowing that there were 5+ others set in this universe but that this could be read as a standalone. I was a little confused during the world building but it wasn't too long before it started to make sense for the most part. 

While the romance develops quickly, it doesn't feel too unbelievable and I like the dynamic between Livia and Erik. The plot itself was interesting and I definitely want to read the second in this duology.
