3.5 ⭐ I was really excited to jump straight into this from Vow of the Shadow King and while I enjoyed the book, there was so much miscommunication (or no communication at all) that really got on my nerves -

the most irritated of which occurred when Vor was questioning Faraine about her controlling his emotions and she didn't even bother trying to explain Maylin's influence and direction. She was soooo strong this book and then all of sudden she couldn't be bothered to try to explain what happened while he was gone?!? 

After that fiasco, the plot started to get better and I enjoyed the outcome and resolution and honestly I'm just happy that Hael survived. I wouldn't mind a Hael/Theodore book either 👀
