challenging emotional slow-paced

I wanted to read this because of the title and because I love sunflowers, but what I got was so powerful! I love that this "the basic premise of the story is true" (per the author)

I loved getting to know each generation of these women. They are so vastly different in their beliefs of their homeland of Ukraine but they persevere in those beliefs. This was a timely novel as it deals a bit with Russia invading Ukraine as happened in our time (again) just 3 months ago.

I think I loved Ionna the most.

The last few chapters had me sobbing as it came to its beautiful conclusion!

This was an interesting fantasy that takes from Parisian mythology and has a bit of a Sleeping Beauty quality to it.

This was kind of a slow burn book. A girl with poison in her veins should be exciting and have a lot of action where she accidentally touches people a lot right? No, she's hidden away in shame by her family. It isn't until she trusts the wrong person that things change, we get a bit of action in a battle, then back to slow.

There were so many interesting demons (here called divs) and most would be fearsome to look at, but once again..... Not much there with them besides that.

I did enjoy reading it but it's not something I'll think about later.

Though this is the first of the series I have read (and it's book 3) and was a little lost at times, I still enjoyed reading it.

I wouldn't have been so lost if I had read the first 2. Those characters apparently factor big into this book but I did still enjoy the characters, especially the women.

I would really like to meet Malachi and study him further. 😉 He's a duke but also a captain and a "pirate" (he hates being called that but his description is perfect for a pirate).

Our heroine is such a devoted mother in her widowhood. Her son is precocious and sweet. He's a good judge of character.

Kaitlyn is a night radio host that puts out song dedications. She has a past (place she grew up and boyfriend) that she doesn't even talk about to her current boyfriend. Then she starts getting stalking phone calls and letters. Hey post is coming back to haunt her in a major way.

I think my favorite part of this book was the red herring. I just KNEW who the stalker/killer was and I was dead 😂 wrong! The were so many clues pointing that's this person that I knew had to be the one. The clues never pointed away from them. The author either kept it very cleverly hidden or I'm just that dumb, lol.

I loved getting back to Nina and her friends. There are also new characters that I grew to adore.

Laura finds herself coming from the east coast to Los Angeles before her grad school. She is also running away from a broken engagement and a mother who doesn't get why she wants to be a physical therapist instead of a professor like the rest of her family.

She meets Polly who introduces her to Nina and Liz at the bookstore where she works and lets Laura know of a room in the house where Polly boards. The house is full of interesting people and she slowly learns that there are people who will take care of and love you just for who you are, flaws and all.

Laura had some PTSD from a car accident she was in and this manifests a few times in this book. I thought the way that the house full of people she lives with are so understanding. There are some (like her ex-fiance) who just tell her to "get over it". I really hated the way her ex treated her in this regard. Mental health problems just don't go away.

I like the blossoming friendship between Laura and one of the housemates Bob. They are attracted to each other but they also have a bit of a hard time showing it. I felt just like Laura in all my relationships I've ever had.  I like how this book shows that adulthood is just messy and we just need to figure out the way we are going to navigate it-with the help of others or try and get by by ourselves.

Ok, I'm utterly obsessed with this! Brigid sure knows how to build a world. The main characters are awesome. I figured out something big really quick and I loved that I was right. I can't say anymore than that.

Tessa. She is so great. She is the true hero of this story in my eyes. (Along with Wes, her partner in crime) The beginning of her outlaw journey is sad but it made her become the strong girl she is. It made her so compassionate for the dying people of her world.  This fever that seems to take so many and people become desperate to get the medicine they need to be cured.

King Harriston and Prince Corrick are such interesting men. The way they seem to want the same things but not in the same way. I love both of their arcs and their journeys...
Especially the King towards the end.

I'm so excited for the next book, September can't come fast enough!

I read this book in a day because it was really easy to flow through. I wanted more from it.... But it was good enough for me to stick with it.

I like that Amy is trying her best to keep up her restaurant but I hate the way it felt like the author made it sound like the whole reason it was failing was because of Sophie being the chef. That didn't sit well with me. It made it seem like that since she wasn't on TV anymore that she isn't good for anything even though she's an amazing cook.

I'm not sure what exactly to say about this book. If you watched the show, this book will make you laugh, cry, and reminisce! I love getting to know the process that goes into a show and the cast's thoughts about episodes and scenes and character arcs.
This is the perfect companion for Schitt's Creek fans- full of artwork and words of wisdom.

I enjoyed this small town romance with a mansion being flipped while filmed for YouTube, the MC guy (Silas) slowly pulling MC girl (Maggie) into his town life and his love. The town's people and their quirks. Silas's family. The house and it's mystery of the originally owners. Kevin the dog really stole the show for me. He's such a funny dog with such a big personality!

This book made me laugh and it made me swoon at the romance. The second to last chapter had me wiping away tears from laughing and the last chapter made me cry with all the wrap ups of everyone. This book made me believe in signs.

While this story was a bit bizarre (a supposed witch, a woman who sees dead girls) and trippy, it flew by in a flash and drew me into this unlikely group of friends.

I think each of the women bring a particular part of themselves to work well with the others.

This book was about finding out who murdered these girls and getting the justice that they deserve. This felt very modern because the rich "get away" with things and because the girls are from poor backgrounds... They were just disregarded! It was very sad but very fulfilling in the end for the help they got after death.
