Sunflowers Beneath the Snow
by Teri M. Brown, Teri M. Brown
challenging
emotional
slow-paced
I wanted to read this because of the title and because I love sunflowers, but what I got was so powerful! I love that this "the basic premise of the story is true" (per the author)
I loved getting to know each generation of these women. They are so vastly different in their beliefs of their homeland of Ukraine but they persevere in those beliefs. This was a timely novel as it deals a bit with Russia invading Ukraine as happened in our time (again) just 3 months ago.
I think I loved Ionna the most.
The last few chapters had me sobbing as it came to its beautiful conclusion!
