The Rest of Us Just Live Here details the lives of the "ordinary" people. The lives of the people who aren't involved in the action, those who are aren't the chosen ones, those who aren't extraordinary are explored.

I think exploring the lives of non-vital characters in an interesting idea, but there's a reason why we follow the extraordinary. It's because they tend to be more interesting, which is why I found the summaries of the lives of the indie kids more interesting.

This book was average. I didn't like it, but I didn't hate it.

This is My Brain on Boys is a story featuring a girl named Addie and a boy named Kris. Addie is conducting a scientific experiment relating to love and how it comes to be due to adrenaline and hormones.

I am a sucker for love stories, and I really enjoyed this one.

While I was reading this book, I was expecting a plot twist.
Specifically, I thought Dex was the one who manipulated the adrenaline-inducing situations around Addie and Kris. I did not, but should’ve, realized that Addie was the manipulator all along.

I came into this book expecting the classic girl-doesn’t-believe-in-love eventually falls in love with boy-who-does-believe-in-love, but got a twist;
she wanted to get with him (and possibly does believe in love)!

This twist has to be why I gave this book 5 stars, it was (kind of) unexpected and was an original idea (to me).

Charlie is not a girly girl. She likes sports and hanging out with her 3 older brothers and the neighbor, anything but being a girl. As nightmares bring her outside, late-night talks with her neighbor/semi-brother seem to make things better.

This is as cliche as it gets. Yes, it is sweet, but most of the plotlines are really predictable and cliche. I wouldn't recommend it because it's the same old love story rewritten. I don't mind that it is a classic story rewritten, I just think there was nothing new or special added to it.

Are You Listening? is a story centered around two women, Lou and Bea. Both are on the road, away from home. The story follows their trip as the world around them magically shifts.

This graphic novel is gorgeous, and the artwork is so beautiful. The actual story, however, barely scratched the surface of human connection and ideas. I never really got an emotional connection to the characters or story, even though there were some emotionally-charged scenes.

This book is a really quick read and, I'd recommend it to those who like the art style. It's not bad, but it's not life-changing or significant (to me).

Harry Potter is not special. Rather, he is scrawny, always being bullied by the Dursleys, and always forgotten. Until on his eleventh birthday, a mysterious giant changes his life and sweeps him into a life full of magic, mystery, and danger.

I absolutely love the Harry Potter series. I first began reading around eight years ago and I have loved it ever since. Like any typical book lover, I do think the book is better than the movie. There are these extra details that the movies left out that are quite enjoyable.

The first third of the book is just building up the universe. They don't actually explore anything magical until the second third of the book, but that's understandable since it is the first book in a series. There wasn't as much action as I believed, but I enjoyed the book nonetheless.

Harry Potter is such a classic, enjoyable book. It truly is great for all ages and it really does deserve the love it gets. I may be biased, but the world is so amazing and anybody would love to be transported there.

I personally didn't see any major plotholes in this specific book, but I can see how some things are perfect.
For example, why was the door on the third floor only locked and not protected by any magic to prevent students from using "alohamora"? Or, why was the detention set in the Forbidden Forrest? (Yes, they were escorted by Hagrid, but then they immediately split up, leaving 2 students with a dog.)

Other than minor things, I think the book was pretty great, one of my favorites.

6 people, one impossible heist. Set in the Grishaverse, Kaz Brekker and his gang must attempt to steal something from one of the most secure locations in the world.

I really had high expectations with this book. This book has so much hype and love that I thought I too, would love it. Spoiler: I didn't really love it. Hence, why it took me a month to finish this book.

The first 75% of the book was boring and difficult to get through, but the end was fine. I had to sometimes switch to the audiobook to really get me into reading this at the end. (Honestly, I couldn't speed up my audiobook. So I just read it with my eyes simply because the slowness of the audiobook annoyed me so much that it forced me to want to finish the book so that I didn't have to listen to the audiobook again. Mind you, this isn't because the audiobook was bad, I was just annoyed because I tend to listen to audiobooks at 2x-3.8x speed and normal speed is just too slow for me.)

Am I going to read the next book? Maybe... Probably. I'll just need to get the audiobook in a place where I can speed it up.

Every generation, a set of triplet queens are born. Unfortunately for two of them, only one can live. After the Beltane Festival, the three sisters will be forced to kill one another, and only one can survive.

This book was going to be three stars at first, but after the plot twist at the very end, I gave it four stars. The plot was unique (to me) and it wasn't hard to get through. I don't love any of the characters, but they are likeable enough for me to want to continue this series and see what's to come.

This was a slow and average start to the series. I'm hoping the next few books in this series will be better.

Warner can't believe it. He lost her, Juliette. She was here, and now she was gone. With his father breathing down his neck, Warner struggles with his emotions and his duty.

I don't have much different to add or say, but I did really like this novella and though I'm not sure if I'll continue this series ever, this novella was a great reminder of a great love story.

Not much happens in this book, but that is expected with novellas.

» READABILITY «
This was short, fast paced, and very easy to read.

» CHARACTERS «
This is only a short novella, so the characters are few and far between, but I enjoyed the insight we got into Warner.

» WRITING «
Tahereh Mafi's writing is to die for. It is literally so easy to devour and enjoy.

» OVERALL «
I bumped the star rating up, simply because I can't really think of anything bad.

I love a different perspective, and this delivered. This novella was not essential to the story, thus the average Plot rating, but it is a novella and shouldn't include anything that would contribute to the plot too much to the point where you have to read the novella to continue with the original series.

The novella added more depth to the story without changing too much. The look into Warner's head made his much more likeable than he already was, and I think that this novella was a successful addition to the main storyline.

Feyre survived Amarantha's test and has returned to the Spring Court. She is now a High Fae, but can forget all the terrible things she did to get to where she is. Feyre also hasn't forgotten about Rhysand and their bargain. As more threats rise, Feyre finds herself in a land about to be torn apart.

If you liked Tamlin from the first book, be prepared for him to be antagonized and literally be aligned with the central villain of this book, the King of Hybern. As for Rhysand, he gets more development and more information is revealed about his Court and his past. He just becomes generally more likable. Finally, our main character, Feyre. She definitely became more assertive and (obviously) stronger. I personally didn't see a problem with her before, but I do know some people thought she wasn't as strong (development-wise) as other main characters in other books.

As for the plotline, I felt like there was a lot of filler.
The first 25% of the book was dedicated to getting Feyre out of the Spring Court and into the Night Court, the next 55% was dedicated to backstories, training, and learning more information, the next 10% was dedicated to establishing the official start Feyre and Rhysand's relationship as mates, and the last 10% was dedicated to actually going to fight/stop the King of Hybern.
I appreciated the extra information, but 626 pages is a lot for just preparation and a couple of chapters of actual action. It's like when they split up the last Harry Potter or Hunger Games, the first movie/part was to establish and the action only came at the end of the first movie/part or at the second movie/part.

Overall, I liked the first book better, but I still enjoyed this book enough to finish it in 2 days. I honestly thought I would've taken me much longer than that, considering how long I had taken to read Waste of Space and Shatter me. I guess it really shows that, if I enjoy a book and it's series, I will devour the book and spend any free time reading it.

By Your Side details the events of when Autumn gets locked in the library with another person, Dax. Autumn is sure that someone will come back, find her, and let her out of the library, but no one comes. Being stuck in the library for three days with a mysterious classmate, Autumn and Dax find themselves gradually opening up to each other.

By Your Side is your typical love story. It was really easy to get through the book, (especially since it was an audiobook). I'm not giving it five stars because it's a read-and-that's-it kind of book. I probably won't ever think about this book ever again, and I find that I am okay with that.
