I must say, I enjoyed this story. It is a gut-wrenching story of how your luck can run out if you are not careful. Also, you never know how other people view you. I found myself most upset with the character Athena. I understand personally the toll of becoming a matriarch of a family when parents are not available to take that role. However, the criticism and the stubbornness from Athena's character made it difficult to read this book at times.
The twins were the most impacted by the secrets, toxicity, and family lies. This scenes in this book is a perfect example of how the "best intentions" are not always best. I found myself frustrated with the twins. It reminded me of when I was young and thought that I knew what was best. Turns out, I had no idea and was acting on emotions, instead of logic AND emotions.
I found myself most upset that a few of the characters were not accepting of each other. But that acceptance became a little more clear as the story continued. It is a shame that Athena only validated her sister's relationship with a woman when she feared for the safety of her twin children. Referring to her sister's relationship as a "phase" was definitely hard to read. This book is raw and NEEDed. Diversifying voices and experiences are needed in today's world. The title of this book perfectly describes the hardship and struggles in this book.

I really liked this book. But the hundred characters made me lost at times. Only because I have a hard time with more than a few characters. It was one of the reasons why Harry Potter was hard for me.
But this book was a magical collection of feminism with no bounds! This book reminded me of the television show “Warehouse 13” and how they changed the sex of H.G Wells fo Helena G. Wells. Plot twist! H.G wells was a female.
On that same token, in this book Scarlett Holmes was masking as Sherlock Holmes. I leave you my three favorite quotes from the book!
“Love is a perishable goods.”
“Given the cost and constraints I’m not willing to take on this gamble.”
“You are far more likely to undercharge than undercharge my dear because you don’t yet understand your own value and you have never been taught to demand your full worth... I appointed myself the [accountant] of this operation because I had to learn both.”
Am I going to finish the series?! At this point I do not know.

You NEED! You NEED to read this novel! This novels is the epitome of the woes of intersectionality. Queenie, is a black woman born to a Jamaican family, raised in England with a absent father.
Listen to this intersectional conundrum... imagine being black, Jamaican, unsure on how to be treated by a white world, witness physical violence from your mom’s partner, having an absent dad, very culturally connected Jamaican grandparents, immigrant family with strong stigmas against mental illness, miscarried a child, struggling with your body, unable to cope with stress, dealing with daily racism, dealing with daily micro aggressions, and dealing with a whole slew of WHITE fuckboys who only view your body as a tool and not a prize. Yes, I know. That was longest run-on sentence in the world. But to be honest, who cares.

Let’s just say Littleport, Maine does not seem like a town I ever want to visit. The characters in this story all have backgrounds that is equal to shady or snobs. The story follows a time line that goes from current to past after the Plus One Party. A party where the elites in the town got together to have a night of fun. Except that night of fun turned into Sadie dying and a massive cover up.
A local by the name of Avery was befriended by Sadie. The two had an unique friendship to say the least. Sadie had opinions about everyone, told Avery that certain people were off limit, and had a strange attraction to death. However, in the end she fought but just not hard enough and no one could hear her screams.
Reading this book made me feel like I was uncovering a mystery in a similar to Nancy Drew but much better. Thriller and Mystery

Stevie had me on an emotional roller coaster. I thought it was the end for her multiple times. You can tell that the author has an affinity for Agatha Christie, specifically“and then their were none.”
It so happens to be one of my all time favorite mysteries. Although, I struggle with the constant name changes. Stevie is a Saint and I love the character development. Usually young adult novels in school settings is soooo annoying to me! However, the author didn’t make Stevie unbearable. However her little “boyfriend” pissed me off several times in Nobel.
This mystery left me thinking “what happened to Alice?!” The entire time. I kept hoping for this 95 year old woman to appear and claim her 70 million although she would have been 5 years too late at that point.
Get into this mystery! The entire series! Truly devious is such a great series!!!

Normally I would have given this a 10 but because of COVID 19 I’ve been having a hard time diving into fantasy. But I loved the world and beyond amazed at the character development. But am I surprised?!? Erin continues to have a magnetic, beyond life, mystical voice and writing skills. Well done!
I felt like I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the ride at six flags to start. I was hoping that the main character found her sister in the end but that did not happen. I kept thinking to myself "why do white people fall for things that are too good to be true in most stories nowadays." My self and my friends of color would have been like "Nah I am NOT staying at this place while all of this creepy shit goes down." To each it's own I guess. If you are looking for a book that starts a bit slow then moves quickly this is your pick. This mystery was something I did not expect. I was most grotesque by the relationship between the main character and the attractive doctor in the apartment building. If I was her, there would have not been enough water and soap in the world to erase that sexual encounter.
This author voice is so soothing and invites you to learn about indigenous practices and beliefs. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!!!
I learned so much about Potawatomi history and of the 7 fires that the ancestors prophesied about. Currently we are in the 7 fire that discusses climate change and that we need to start being better people to then earth. In addition to making a choice either to save the earth or watch it burn.
The author discussed their challenges on teaching her students about botany and the students using religion to answers her questions about photosynthesis. She shared intimate parts of her life including her daughters and her partners.
This book was very informative and repeatedly connected what ever was said to reciprocity and how we must always give thanks.
The symmetry and connectedness in this book were uncanny. The author has a way of lining up suspected suspects as to who was the night tiger but threw in a plot twist to confuse you on the way. Confusion in a good way nonetheless. Although the love story in this book kept me saying "What in the incest-ial is this? it still left me wanting for more. There was an unlikely match. The character development was some of the best I've seen all year. If you are looking for a book with mystery, hints of thriller, and with diverse characters please check this book out.
Often times I read books and I ask myself "why are most characters White?" Where are the Asian characters? Native American characters? Aboriginal characters? Latinx characters? Black characters? African characters? This book helps fill in that void for me.

I felt each word down to the depths of my soul! I spoke each word out loud. “Alla my stuff” got me the most and the story of Beau!
