This book was listed on a 100 Cult Books list. I had previously read another book by this woman, called Cult Insanity. I first became aware of this religious group from listening to a cult podcast show (called CULTS). I think I found Cult Insanity when I googled the Lebaron name. I hate to say that I enjoyed this book, because the stuff that this woman (and everyone else involved) endured is truly beyond my comprehension. I appreciated her point of view and her story. It was very interesting to see how a group of people lived and believed that is vastly different than my life experience. I am glad she was able to find some moments of happiness in her life, because she certainly deserved it.

Lt-Gen. Roméo Dallaire was born in 1946 in the Netherlands. He moved to Canada with his family in 1946, when he was about six months old. He joined the Canadian Army in 1963. In 1993, he received his commission as the major-general of UNAMIR, the United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda. The goal was to negotiate between the rival parties to bring an end to the tensions. Unfortunately, that did not go at all as planned, resulting in the Rwandan Genocide. He ultimately wound up rescuing hundreds of people, but that did not stop the brutal slaughter of over 800,000 more Rwandans.
I have read a lot of Holocaust books, and my interest in comparing genocides led me to buy this one. I had read some others previous to this and thus left this one sitting for a while. I have been trying to read some of my unread things and get to some reviews that I have neglected to do, and I wish that I would have read this book as soon as I bought it. I did know a lot of the facts about the genocide, but it is so important to read personal accounts from those in different positions and occupations during times like this. This book was really very good, and if you are interested in the Rwandan Genocide, I highly suggest picking this one up.

This book is about some deep sea divers who dive shipwrecks. They wound up finding a UBoat off the New Jersey coast, 230 feet below the surface. Inside the submarine, they discovered human remains. There were no identifying marks that they could see, and there was no record anywhere of there being a Uboat in this area. The work they put in to find out the identity of this ship and its crew was staggering. This was a very interesting book to read. I loved it.

This book is the companion to Sex with Kings, and gives an in depth look into the lives of history's most notable queens and their lovers. So many, if not all, of these women were married off to some person they did not know, and had never seen. They were expected to look pretty, provide heirs, and stay out of the way. Some grew to love each other, but there were also a lot of lovers...and I can't really say that I blame them for that. It is hard to go through your whole life feeling no love and no passion and wholly not considered. The stories in this book were very interesting, and I will always recommend an Eleanor Herman book.

I love Eleanor Herman, and I enjoy her books so much. People seem so shocked that people throughout history have been unfaithful to their partners. Kings and Queens were unfaithful. People in all manner of government are unfaithful. Celebs that people look up to on the silver screen and the stage have been caught being unfaithful. The difference between today and several years ago is that the press overlooked things. We thrive on the misery of others and salacious gossip it seems like, so it is hard to imagine a time where there weren't cameras everywhere waiting to catch someone out. I learned quite a lot about some of the presidents that I had never heard before, aside from the Kennedy's. I really enjoyed this book, as well as her others, and hope she puts a new one out soon.

I picked this book up for a dollar at the used bookstore, and I am so glad that I did. This was my introductory book into the work of Eleanor Herman, and I love her. This gives a well researched and broad account of courts throughout the ages and the saucy workings therein. I had heard of some of these mistresses, but never quite as in depth. I really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it.

This book is about the affairs, girlfriends, and wives of presidents of the United States of America. It seems like there was never a faithful or monogamous president, but certainly it wasn't as big of a deal to the public because the press ignored it for many years. I have read better books than this one on this subject, but it was an okay book. My biggest complaint is that it seemed so sensationalized instead of just presenting the facts and evidence.

This book is about the Children of God cult, founded by David Berg. This cult has gone by several names, thought in the most recent reorganization, it goes by The Family International. I first became aware of this cult through a podcast (Cults- available on Stitcher) that I listen to. I ran across the book when I was googling more information about the cult. The author was raised in this cult from childhood, and her grandfather was David Berg. This goes into details about the working of the cult, her immediate family life, and how she broke away at age twenty three to find something better. She endured some extremely gross things. I would suggest this book to anyone who is interested in religious studies or cults in general.

This book was amazing. I bought it because it was by Marcus Luttrell, and I really enjoyed reading his moving story in Lone Survivor. I wanted to know what else he had to say. This book hit me in all my feelings, and made me want to hug all the boys I went to school with who eventually joined some branch of the military. Books like this always make me feel extremely humbled and grateful for the experiences that so many are willing to go through and have gone through. I would highly recommend this book.

I bought this book because it was on a list of suggested books for people who were fans of Downton Abbey. It is a very in depth historical account of the service industry in Britain. I really liked the photographs and the personal accounts featured throughout the book. Service was harder work than people probably imagine. I really enjoyed this book and learning about a different way of life and work path than I am personally familiar with.
