I have read every single book in this series. As each one comes out, I hate to say that I like them less and less. When this series first started, I loved the fantasy of it, and the solving of a mystery. As relationships have evolved, the emphasis seems to be simply on relationships and the constant talking through problems. I completely understand that poly relationships are complicated and require a lot of communication, but nearly all of the book seems to be a constant back and forth working out some problem between lovers. I long for the days when we were raising zombies and fighting an enemy, etc. I feel like I am slogging on through the series, simply because I committed to it. I hope that there is a return to the roots at some point, because this constant beating a dead horse about a relationship problem is tiresome.

This book is about Catherine de Medici and Diane de Poitiers and their love and rivalry for Henri II of France. Henry II married Catherine de Medici for her wealth and her political ties. Catherine loved Henri basically immediately, but he was starstruck with Diane. This love triangle is one of the greatest ones I have read about, and was featured in the historical drama Reign. I thought this book was very good.

This book was written by Kerri Rawson, the daughter of Dennis Rader. Kerri details the day she found out that her father was arrested for murder...not just murder, but for being the headline grabbing serial killer known as BTK. She gives us a glimpse into her life with her father and the sometimes odd things that he did. She is very open about the day her life turned upside down with the arrest of her father and all of the details about his activities that she learned afterwards. I cannot imagine what that must have been like for her, or any of the other children and family members of someone who has done something similar. People are always interested in the lives of these high profile killers, but I think that people do not really stop to think about the suffering of the family members of these killers as much as they do the victims. It must be terribly hard to handle the fact that your parent was this monstrous person.

It never really crossed my mind that there were serial killers active during World War II, especially in Europe. There was so much death, destruction, and cruelty going on in the first place that it truly didn't occur to me. This book covers the case of Paul Ogorzow, the S-Bahn Killer. He had a family, a job with the railroad, was a member of the Nazi Party, and was a Brownshirt. He used the blackout order to stalk women and the cover of darkness helped him get away with it. This was a very interesting book, and I would suggest it for anyone interested in true crime or World War II.

Most people that are into history or are European are aware of Victoria and Albert's love story and marriage. Victoria is often spoken about for several reasons: her reign, the Victorian Era, the industrial transformation of Britain, her children, etc. Albert is discussed far less frequently, other than about how devastating it was for her when he died. He was also a very dynamic character, and their personal and political relationship and differences were really interesting to learn about in this book.

As far as the writing in the book, it was very well written. The research was outstanding. This book was not dry or boring in any way, which is always a concern with historical books for me, even though I am a historian. I thought the information was transmitted in a way that was easy to read, follow, understand, and retain. If you are interested in European History or Royals, I would suggest this one.

Melanie (Slate) McGuire was born in 1972 in New Jersey. She attended college, double majoring in Math and Psychology before obtaining her nursing degree. She married William McGuire in 1999. The couple had two children, and decided to move from their apartment to a house. At the time, she was working as a nurse at a fertility clinic, and he was a computer programmer. They found a house and started the home buying process, but unfortunately were never able to move into it. Melanie wound up murdering her husband in April 2004.  I do not want to spoil the book going into her reasoning, the trial, or anything else that happened, but this was a wild story. It was apparently featured in People Magazine and on several crime shows, but I do not recall seeing it when it happened.

John Glatt is one of my favorite crime writers, so I enjoyed this book. It is currently available on Audible Plus to listen to for free, and I believe it was a seven hour listen. His research was well done, and his ability to convey tragic and horrific information in a way that is not disrespectful to any surviving family members. If you like true crime, I would highly recommend checking out some of this author's  work.

I have been watching Ghost Hunters for years. I was really excited to come across this book. I think that the individual personalities of each team member bring so much to the team, and to the show. I hate that they have gone in separate directions now, but that just gives me more to watch. This book was pretty good, and it was neat to read about things that were not featured on the show. It does serve to promote the show, but it was good as a standalone.

One of the things that interests me the most about cults is how people find themselves taken in by them. Pretty much everyone has heard of Jim Jones and the People's Temple. What in the world was it about Jim Jones that was so appealing to people? What were people missing in their lives that they thought this was the answer? I haven't ran across very many people who could say they survived the events at Jonestown, so I was very interested in what this woman had to say. I cannot imagine living the life that these people did. The conditions were horrible. The treatment was horrible. The environment was horrible. I cannot imagine how much pain and devastation this event caused for so many who lost family members due to this insane man, and how traumatized those who survived his grasp must have been.

Merry and her lovers get into some interesting situations in this book. Merry discovers she is a vessel for a specific power, and she is able to do all manner of things during sex. Doyle, Rhys, and Frost regain powers they had not had in ages. Merry's Aunt has an insane spell. We meet several new characters and learn about them. A mystery is solved. Overall an interesting book.

This book goes into all the ways that the German population helped to create and support the Nazi regime and Adolf Hitler. I thought the ideas and information was presented in interesting and informative ways. I enjoyed this book a lot.
