Perfect conclusion to a story that was already in my all-time favorites.
There is a slight shift in tone since we’re following Silver now, but I think it was fitting to the themes of this book. I found the time jump disappointing at first, but it made sense later on and now I couldn’t think of how else this story could’ve unfolded otherwise.
Maud is such a character too. I don’t quite know what to make of her yet, but honestly it was refreshing even if she could be a little jarring at times.

It's been a minute since I read fantasy as well fleshed out and concise as this one. The characters literally leaped off the page (into my heart uwu) and the author did all this in less than 150 pages? Amazed, flabbergasted, socks blown off.
It's really one of those books that you're better off knowing nothing of until you read it, so I won't say more than: it has great characters, good worldbuilding, and an interesting mystery to tie it all up. I just wish I could read it again for the first time over and over because it's that good!

The audiobook is also excellent, kudos to the narrator for all the inflection and the voices. It really did help the story to feel more pressing and real so I can 100% recommend.

I liked this one way better than the first. There were times and themes where I wished we could’ve stayed longer, but overall it was a good exploration of the world.
My only gripe is that the times when Dex has sex, the tone shifts entirely and it feels like it's not even the same book. It's unclear to me thee standing that this society or even Dex has on that front. If it's just a biological act, then why get all bashful, but if it's more complex than that then why not explore it further the same way we do other things like money and religion?
Aside from that I am glad that I read it. It was hopeful and soothing until the end and I can see myself nitpicking at the world in the future.

Love love love! It is funny, smart, irreverent, and literally the only good depiction of a historian main character I’ve seen. There’s not much else I can say without spoilering and trust me, you want to go into this blind. Honestly if you loved Andy Weir’s work I feel like you’ll love this.

Audiobook was great quality, I don’t usually listen to them in Spanish but the voice actors were phenomenal, I feel it’s going to even feel weird hearing RPattinson voicing Mickey on screen when I do finally watch the movie.

I got this as part of a Storygraph giveaway and I'd like to thank the author for that.
Now onto the book... It was very reminiscent of 90s novels, which was good in some ways, and not so great in others. For one, I appreciate that we didn't get any of those formulaic sex scenes while still getting the romance part across. The downsides were that it didn't have very good representation (I am still hollering at the Italian? Mexican? restaurant) and the characters feeling a bit cardboard-y, like they were just there to push Emma's story forward. Dialogues are a bit clunky and the pacing is very "nothing happens" in the first 2/3, then A Lot happens in the last part.
Overall both main characters are a bit boring for my taste, and the narrator is quick to dismiss any flaws that they have.
For what I needed it works though. A quick, relaxing read to switch off for a bit. I don't think I will rush to read the rest of the series, but maybe if I were to take a long flight or have a hospital stay I might pick them up.

Kind of thorn about this, because I didn't care much for the first half of the book, but Mosscap won me over so much that I'm rounding up to 4 stars. I feel like I understand where Dex is coming from much better once we meet the robot companion, but for the first few chapters they were getting on my nerves most of the time. I wish this second part had been longer for that reason.

Very good book, engaging even when there's virtually not a lot happening for the most part, and beautifully written at that. It was a bit too much for me so I don't think I'll be re-reading it, but hey if you like your books trippy and open ended this one's definitely for you.

Informative and well researched. Endearing at times... I would've liked to know more about Barbara's personal life and viewpoints. As it is, I felt it was a bit dry, even setting aside the skating part which doesn't ever get too technical.
The photos were a nice touch, but it would have been helpful to have them alongside the chapters they related to.

It was a fun, cozy read. Although don't expect to see much of Anne tho, aside from the "jealousy" plotline (idk why it's stressed so much on the blurb, it only takes a few chapters right by the end). Most of the book is slice-of-life about the Blythe kids, which is fun, but we don't get much of a peek onto Anne's world. I disagree with some of the reviews tho, it feels completely in character that Anne would weave an entire "affair" on one day, she has been shown to be prone of derailing a bit esp when stressed.
Overall it was a nice catch up on what the Blythe family is doing, as well as some old friends from previous books.

I feel like it could've done with some heavy editing. As it stands it's two different books, or at least two writing styles and the tonal shift is not subtle imo. First half reminded me of On the Road, while the second half felt more like a regular heist fiction.
Overall I can see the novelty and how the overall vibes informed the cyberpunk movement, but at the same time there were some jarring comments regarding treatment of race, gender, mental illness and addiction. I can't unsee how the same issues I didn't like remain for contemporary cyberpunk (and scifi, to some extent) media.
I know it is a product of its time but all the same, Asimov and LeGuin, and even Herbert were writing more careful works in this regard.
In the end I'm glad I crossed it off my list, mostly in case someone tells me that this is their favorite book, then I can confidently 🚩-out of there.
