A Prayer for the Crown-Shy
by Becky Chambers
lighthearted
reflective
relaxing
medium-paced
I liked this one way better than the first. There were times and themes where I wished we could’ve stayed longer, but overall it was a good exploration of the world.
My only gripe is that the times when Dex has sex, the tone shifts entirely and it feels like it's not even the same book. It's unclear to me thee standing that this society or even Dex has on that front. If it's just a biological act, then why get all bashful, but if it's more complex than that then why not explore it further the same way we do other things like money and religion?
Aside from that I am glad that I read it. It was hopeful and soothing until the end and I can see myself nitpicking at the world in the future.
