I liked this, but I wanted more from it. Yes, it is Taylor Swift inspired and each chapter has a title that is a different song, but it just fell kind of flat for me. I thought there would be more to it than just Taylor Swift songs as chapter titles and some lyrics sprinkled throughout the book. I can't really explain it, but it was lacking to me. The premise and the idea was good, but didn't execute well. I also didn't like Zander as a love interest; he seemed to just be a jerk at times. I was really excited for this, but it definitely wasn't all that great.
I wanted to like this as much as everyone else seems to, but I feel like I'm missing the hype? I just don't get it. The book is wordy and drags on, with just too much; it felt like the book could be much shorter than it's almost five hundred page length. Like, there was truly nothing going on. If you want a book where all they do is party, have sex, and go on about their struggles, then this book is for you. The whole book hinges on the fact that Stassie needs a new skating partner because her original one gets injured and so Nate fills in and cue falling in love, but the literaly premise doesn't even happen until 50% of the way in. So what were doing for the other 49%? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. It was literally filler with about ten pages of them actually doing what the author set the whole book up to be. Stassie was mean, they had no chemistry, too much side character involvement and just overall a terrible book.
I really enjoyed this book! It's probably my second favorite in the series. I wasn't sure if I would truly like this, as the kinks and tropes aren't my favorite, but it actually blew me away! It made me a huge fan of things I didn't even think I'd like or be into. I should have known though, because Sara Cate is an amazing writer and a fantastic storyteller, so I should have never doubted her ability to make me love any book she writes. I loved Ronan and Daisy's relationship, despite the huge age gap and history that exists between them. As always, the smut in this is unmatched and will have you blushing and kicking your feet. Such a great addition to the series and I cannot WAIT for Eden's book.

This was a beautiful and heartbreaking story of love and loss, and finding what you really want. What you think you might do in a situation like this might not be what you do at all, and I think that's a very important thing to realize. This is a love triangle done right, in the best and most honest and raw way possible. There were a few things that bothered me - how can you make a decision this monumental in like three days? And then being intimate with someone for "one last time" before saying goodbye to them to go to the other person? Why? Other than that, if you're able to overlook these things, the book was great in the message it is trying to convey and how well Taylor Jenkins Reid can pull at your heartstrings and make you feel something with her writing.
Yet another laugh out loud read by Meghan Quinn with such heartfelt moments and a big side of serious spice! This book features sports romance, fake dating, age gap and found family tropes. Silas and Ollie were seriously made for each other. It was such a change meeting, but one that was meant to be. They deifnitely lust after eahc other at first, but they ignore this want and instead make an arrangement for fake dating that will both benefit them. One of the best parts of this was that Ollie didn't know who Silas was, despite being a professional hockey player. It made this book better and more genuine, like Ollie was really in it for the right reasons. The banter between these two was superb. Even the banter between Silas and his teammates had me in tears with how funny it was. Ollie is such a strong woman who I admire because she just says and does what she wants and that's what makes me like her so much. Silas is a broken man, after his trust is completely broken by someone he loved so deeply, and because of this, it takes him awhile to open up. But his self awareness about everything made him such a lovable character from the beginning. This is not only a romantic comedy, but a story about learning that not everyone will hurt you, it’s okay to trust people and let them in and to leanr to love again because you just might meet the love of your life in the most unexpected way. How important it is to open up about what’s hurting you and remembering to hear someone out when something happens.
This is the accidental pregnancy trope done right! It's also a sports romance and a best friend's sister trope. I found this so cute and so wholesome, with some really sweet moments that were so unexpected and so endearing. It was refreshing to see how involved Eli wanted to be in Penny's life and the baby's life, instead of getting scared and not wanting to participate. He is so attentive and sweet and at Penny's beck and call, no matter happens. I love how he became reformed, and changed his life for the better and he realized he could be a different man than how he was raised. And Eli went to therapy! So amazing to see a man in a book actually go to therapy, WILLINGLY. I loved the journey Penny went on and the mom she became, and how their partnership developed together through this unexpected but wonderful blessing.
This was such a great book! The banter was so funny, the premise was unique and well done and of course, the spice was top tier. Winnie crashes her car into a ditch and looks for help, stumbling upon a cabin with five professional hocky players staying there, but she really only has eyes for one of them. Winnie and Pacey have such a fun and awesome relationship with undeniable chemistry. The only part that bothers me is Pacey not telling Winnie the truth about his brother, as I thought it was a dealbreaker, or would be for me. But, if you look over that, it's a fun book that's a really good time!
Where Waves Break is the fourth book in Julia Wolf's The Seasons Change rockstar romance series. There was a lot to unpack in this Diego's tumultuous backstory and I was surprised to discover he had some sexy secret spice tucked away behind that grumpy exterior. I loved that Julia went there with Diego and then let that side of him come out to play. This was pretty steamy and I'm always here for that. Diego is older, wiser and much more cautious with his heart now, largely because he's a father to a young, precocious son who is the light of his life. He's got a passion for working on cars at his father's shop but can still be persuaded to step back into the role of rockstar drummer, given the right opportunity. He realizes he can't be a rockstar and a mechanic workng on rare cars without some help, so he enlists a nanny to come along and care for his four year old son. Lead singer of the band he fills in for comes to the rescue by offering up her highly qualified, younger sister June for the job. Sweet, sunny June Adler tries to look on the bright side of everything. She's escaping a life she hates - getting far away from a bad situation by taking a chance on this job. Her new boss was and still is her secret crush but this broody grump of a man has no idea he's even met her before. They clashed from the start, but Diego finds that he's drawn to June despite his reservations and being hurt in the past. He's a protective father who can't deny that June might be the best thing that ever happened to his boy, so this short nanny gig turns into a job for the summer. Let the fun begin as she moves away from all she knows and into the home of the man she could never forget, with a rambunctious little guy she's already begun falling for. Where Waves Break combines so well many of my favorite tropes in romance - rockstar, single parent, nanny, age gap, hidden issues, hurt/comfort, forced proximity - it doesn't get any better than that! A big highlight for me was sweet, hilarious Camilo - Diego's upbeat, smart as a whip and intuitive little show stealer of a son. He became a delightful addition to June's life, as did Diego's entire family. I cheered June on as she fought for control of her own destiny and those moments of brilliance as she goes for what will make her happiest in her life, career and in love. There were some forks their path and differences so big they might be dealbreakers, but it all comes together in the end. I also really loved how the author touched on grief, loss and addiction and what that means for everyone involved.
The perfect start to a new series! I loved this book and I think you will too. Lena Hendrix writes small town romances SO DAMN WELL. Wyatt is a dirty talking, grumpy, ex-NFL player who has his little girl wrapped around his finger and has a heart of gold. He's the perfect book boyfriend and this book is a wonderful take on the single parent/nanny romance trope. I swooned so many times while reading and I also audibly screamed during some of these scenes. Lark really found herself in this story, one where she finds her home among the unlikeliest of places and discovers what she truly wants out of life, and how what she thought she wanted wasn't the case at all. The relationship between Lark and Penny and the awesome cast of characters was amazing, and melted my heart over and over again. Lark and Wyatt had very palpable chemistry! They were HOT, and really were perfect for each other. There was no third act breakup, which I loved. I loved getting to know Outtatowner, Michigan and cannot wait for the next book in the series!
This was incredibly filthy, so if that's your thing, then this novella is for you. I honestly couldn't stop blushing but I was also surprised that for a novella, it did have a good plot and a wrapped up happy ending that makes you swoon.
