Although this book was beautifully written, I just struggled to get into it. I felt that the pace was very slow, and it didn't hold my interest at times. I used to love Greek mythology, but maybe my tastes have changed. The pace does pick up about halfway through, but it still was a slow read for me.
I did enjoy reading about Circe who I do not remember from my college courses. Her story is interesting and the author was very knowledgeable about her subject. She was able to include many different aspects of Circe's life into one book which was nice.

If you leave a door half open, soon you'll hear the whispers spoken.
If you play outside alone, soon you won't be going home.
If your window's left unhatched, you'll hear him tapping at the glass.
If you're lonely, sad, and blue, The Whisper Man will come for you.
The Whisper Man by Alex North tells the story of Tom Kennedy, who after the loss of his wife decides a fresh start would be good for him and his young son, Jake. They move to the town of Featherbank, but this town has a dark past - a serial killer who murdered five children and was nicknamed, The Whisper Man, because he spoke to the children by whispering at their windows at night.
Tom notices that Jake seems to have imaginary friends and that he is drawing odd things that "the boy in the floor" told him to draw. When Jake hears a whisper at his window one night things start to get really creepy. When a new boy vanishes, it's up to detectives Pete Willis, the man who arrested The Whisper Man, and Amanda Beck to solve the case before it's too late.
Wow! What a wild ride this was. This is one of the best thrillers I have read! There were times I was so creeped out that I had to stop reading. I don't recommend reading this in bed at night with your window open, but I definitely recommend reading it!

The Silent Patient tells the story of Theo, a psychotherapist, who transfers to a new facility because of one particular patient. Alicia is a famous artist who goes completely silent after murdering her husband. Theo tells the story of how he tries to get Alicia to speak again while we hear her story through her journal entries.
This book was well written and fast paced for the most part. As the author was building up to the big twist I started to piece it together, but I didn’t see it coming until then. I felt there were some parts that were a little drawn out, and I just didn’t believe there was enough time for the last journal entry (no spoilers!) which is why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.

In this game, even winning can be deadly…
Imagine living such a normal live – married to a professor with a 15 year old step-daughter and an infant son. You even host the local book club with your best friend then one day a new neighbor shows up for said book club, and your life becomes anything but normal.
Amy Whey lives the perfect suburban life in Florida, married to a great man, Davis, with their two kids. Amy is a dive instructor and runs the local book club with her best friend Charlotte. What we don’t know is that Amy has a secret. A big one that their new neighbor, Roux, knows and wants to make everyone else know that is unless Amy pays her a large amount of money. Roux shows up at the book club one night and takes it over. Instead of discussing the book she wants to play a game. Her version of Never Have I Ever, but instead of drinking when you’ve done something that someone else says, in Roux’s version you have to be the one with the worst secret. What Roux is trying to do is to get Amy to tell her secret, but Amy won’t give in. Will she end up playing Roux’s game? You’ll have to read to find out.
This was my first book by Joshilyn Jackson. I won an advanced readers copy through a Goodreads giveaway and was very excited to read this book. It was my first Goodreads giveaway win, and I really enjoyed the book. I thought the twists and turns were great, and I didn’t want to put this book down. I highly recommend this especially if you are a fan of mysteries and psychological thrillers.
One complaint I had was that the chapters were really long, and I felt they needed some breaks within them. This could be because I had an advanced copy that they hadn’t been edited yet, but I like to be able to stop mid-chapter if needed, but there were no breaks in these chapters.
Thank you Goodreads and William Morrow for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

I really wanted to love this book. Like really wanted to, but I just had such a hard time getting into it. I think there were only 150 pages left when the pace started to pick up and at that point it just got confusing. I do think the writing itself was lovely, but long-winded at times. There were a lot of characters to keep track of, and it felt disjointed at times. I felt like I needed complete, uninterrupted silence to be able to understand what was going on.
I really wanted to love this book, but it was so hard to get into. The beginning moved at such a slow pace, and I really wanted something to happen. I know this was a debut so hopefully the next book in the series moves at a better pace.
One day in December, Laurie spots a handsome man waiting on a bus bench through her bus window.
Laurie doesn't believe in love at first sight, but when she sees Jack on that bench things change. Jack noticed Laurie as well, but didn't get on the bus in time so for a year Laurie searched for Jack hoping she'll find him. Then one year later in December, she meets her best friend, Sarah's new boyfriend, and it's Jack. The book tells the story through of these three through their years of relationships and friendship.
This was a cute love story. I don't read a lot of stories like this, but I enjoyed it. I wanted these characters to find happiness and felt that the story line was realistic. I would recommend this to people who like contemporary romance novels.

Wow! What a crazy ride this book was! No Exit by Taylor Adams tells the story of Darby, a Colorado college student heading home for Christmas break. She gets stuck in a bad blizzard and has to stop for the night at a highway rest stop. She is stranded there with four other people. When Darby goes outside to try to get cell service she notices something strange, a child locked in a cage in the back of a van. Now she not only has to save the little girl, but she has to figure out which of the four other people owns this van.
This was definitely a thriller. It had me on the edge of my seat just waiting to find out what was going to happen next. There were some rather violent parts so if that isn’t your thing this book is not for you, but if you’re looking for a thrill ride you should definitely check this out!

I really enjoyed An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. This is the first of the books they have co-authored that I have read although [b:The Wife Between Us|34189556|The Wife Between Us|Greer Hendricks|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1496862122s/34189556.jpg|55227731] has been on my to be read list for a while. I love a good psychological thriller, and this had everything I hope to find when reading one.
Jess is just another anonymous girl living in New York City as a freelance makeup artist. In order to earn some extra cash, she sneaks into a research study hosted by the elusive Dr. Shields. The subject of the study is morality and as Subject 52, Jess is asked a series of questions which reveal a lot about her. Dr. Shields wants to expand Subject 52's participation in the study, but as Jess starts to open up more and more to the doctor she starts to wonder what is being done with the information she is collecting.
This book had me engrossed from the beginning. It was unlike any other psychological thrillers that are out there right now and such a roller coaster of a read. There was a twist at the beginning that I didn't expect, and the twists just kept coming. I honestly didn't see the ending until we were there! I highly recommend this to other fans of thrillers, and I look forward to reading other books by Hendricks and Pekkanen.
