Although this book was beautifully written, I just struggled to get into it. I felt that the pace was very slow, and it didn't hold my interest at times. I used to love Greek mythology, but maybe my tastes have changed. The pace does pick up about halfway through, but it still was a slow read for me.

I did enjoy reading about Circe who I do not remember from my college courses. Her story is interesting and the author was very knowledgeable about her subject. She was able to include many different aspects of Circe's life into one book which was nice.
