I have really mixed feelings about this one and I’m still not entirely sure what the focus of the plot was really because there were just so many things happening at once.

The main character is very unreliable and frankly, just not a good person. Her priorities seem very messy and I don’t think she’s ever clear on what she wants but it’s also apparent, that she’s going a lot going on and no healthy way of dealing with anything.

She has terrible taste in men and there was so much gaslighting and emotional abuse, with instances of physical abuse too. I couldn’t for the life of me understand why she wanted to fight so hard for them to be in her life when she was clearly a very successful and powerful woman, perhaps drummed down by the abuse.

Overall, it was a harrowing story but there was a bit much going on for me personally. The ending was very well done but I would have liked there to be more of a focus throughout as I was never sure whether her life or the court case was meant to be centre stage.

It’s really hard for me to articulate my thoughts on this one but overall, it was such a cosy and heartwarming read.

A world where a man named Charley has the unusual ability of being able to read characters out of their books and into the real world.

The characters were so loveable and I enjoyed reading about them all. Watching Charley and his brother Rob have their own character development, while also watching the relationship between them develop was just heartwarming.

They were written so well and the author perfectly captured the love and rivalry that can simultaneously run between siblings. However, overall the love and protection for them will always come on top.

The story was an adventure and the world was built beautifully alongside it. This book definitely has a special place in my heart now and I loved reading it.

This was a deeply moving and poignant book about a woman named Becky who finds herself in a situation that she can’t untangle.
She finds her boss, a man she admires and respects, who’s helped her with so much of her career, with a woman that’s not his wife. Was it rape?

Flicking between Becky’s past and present, the reader truly goes along a rocky road with her. You go through a journey of Becky fighting with a past that she’s never had all the pieces of, her battle of conscience while she tries to establish what she saw and you truly become attached to her character. I felt so angry and hurt for everything she had to go through and continued to go through. As Becky’s life seems to continually unravel, eventually so does the truth.

Very well written and would definitely recommend

Fast paced and interesting thriller! Lots going on and lots to unravel. I am really intrigued by the character Evie and her background, she’s so secretive and I would really like to know what happened and how she ended up where she is. Will this be in the next book? Hopefully!

Cyrus was also an interesting character and very interesting to see a psychologist as the MC. Although, sometimes I found him a bit abrupt and his decision making to be rash. He didn’t seem to think a lot through! However, it was nice to see his relationship with Evie and watch her slowly grow more comfortable with him.

Overall, the plot was interesting. I did have some theories and I was half right but didn’t expect it to play out the way it did.

Left very open at the end which was a bit “meh”. I realise there’s a sequel but I felt it could have been wrapped up a little more. That’s just me being picky though!

This was the first book I’ve read as part of this series and I was gutted that I just couldn’t get into it. Maybe it was due to my own pre-expectations? I’m not sure.

I expected a lot more mystery about this “mysterious reverend” but it hardly seemed to be touched upon. I wanted to see more of the detective work and what they did there.

I absolutely loved the characters. I thought they were brilliant, very real, very wholesome and sometimes quite comical. They were really lovely characters to read about and I imagine I’d have learnt a lot more if I’d read the series from the beginning.

While the scenery was beautiful and Botswana was painted so lovely, I felt the dialogue was over described. It was very much “X said this to Y, and Y said to X and X said to Y”, it made everything feel a bit disjointed and I found myself skimming a lot of it because I was really struggling to engage with it.

However, this is just my opinion. I don’t believe this is a bad book at all but it just wasn’t for me and I couldn’t engage with the writing style unfortunately.
