The first part of the Charlie Travesty series did not mess about. Straight in there with the hook!
Like no vampire tale I’ve read before, this world is run by the vampires and they are definitely not hiding. The series has so much potential and I’m really excited to see how it evolves in the next part.
I feel so invested in Charlie already, she is such a likeable character and I’m completely rooting for her in this unknown world she’s found herself in.
I just want to know more about this world and how it operates. Especially how Charlie is going to find a way to live in it!

I really wanted to love this one and had such high expectations and maybe that’s why it fell short for me.
For a mystery, the pace just didn’t seem right. There was so much character building it took up about 65% of the book.
The characters were great and I enjoyed reading each of their perspectives but it was a lot of POVs to grapple with and keep track of.
The next 30% was all action and I loved it, it was fast paced and everything I expected the rest of the book to be.
The ending, I have to say I didn’t expect and didn’t anticipate, so it was nice that I didn’t guess that. However, it felt like it all wrapped up far too conveniently and far too quickly. I really would have like a bigger ending and more after thought.

This was an intriguing book with supernatural elements I wasn’t expecting.
Joe Thorne is the protagonist and honestly, I couldn’t find a way to like him but I think that was entirely intentional. He made dreadful decisions and never seemed to learn. Also, his constant humour as a defence mechanism was annoying!
However, this didn’t take away too much from the story and overall, it was a quick and easy read!
It was a creepy town and I absolutely wouldn’t want to visit it!

I was apprehensive during the first half of this as I felt it to be a bit jumpy and found myself feeling like I’d slept through things because I felt like I was reading point A and then point C.
However, this didn’t draw too much away from the story and the second half was ALL action! I loved it and I can’t wait to see where volume 3 takes us!
I am rooting for Charlie and Drew. Forbidden love can sometimes be really “bleh” but as I said in my review for volume 1, I am rooting for Charlie and Drew is such a decent guy! So I just want it to be not-so forbidden and that would be great.
Noah is of course, very dark and mysterious and we love that too, right? Although rather pretentious and he does get on my nerves a bit but I suppose that’s all part of his charm.
Thank you so much Jessi Elliott and Kelsey Sutton for the e-ARC. I’m really excited to see what you have up your sleeves for the next release!

This book had me gripped from the beginning. Started and finished in one afternoon.
Sadie is missing and DI Rob Fleet is on the case to find her. From the outset, you’re never sure who to trust as there are so many gaps in each of the characters stories! Sadie’s friends Mason, Cora, Fash and Abi all seem to say things that just don’t entirely add up and have reasons which could implicate each of them in her disappearance. However, none of them are that solid.
As Simon Lelic progresses the story and the reader finds out more about the night of Sadie’s disappearance, it becomes more difficult to put the book down. However, the assumptions about each character’s involvement keep building.
The end was not one I expected after the twists and turns throughout but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Random House for the ARC!

A man is found bludgeoned in the woods and Detective Karen Hart is brought in to investigate. With long-held suspicions of a modern day slavery ring and police corruption, Karen starts to connect the dots while unearthing the ghosts of her past.
The story was fast paced and I felt that the characters had really interesting stories behind them. An easy read and enjoyable, however, there was just something missing for me and I think I would have liked a bit more information around the slavery ring.
While this was the third book in this series, I haven’t read the first two but didn’t see that as essential to the overarching story.
Thank you to D.S. Butler, NetGalley and Amazon Publishing for the ARC.

The Spirit in the Crypt was sent to me by the author, in exchange for an honest review.
I had no prior expectations for this books, which was really nice because I grew to love it the further in I got.
Jonny is a loveable protagonist, a teenage boy who’s made some questionable choices and he’s aware of it. Throughout the book, he matures a lot and it leaves the reader rooting for him and wanting the best for him.
As it’s a series, I’m really hoping we can get some more character development on the other key people in this book (Cassy, Stephen, Aaron).
I found the book to be really well paced and the scene description to be really vivid.
This was a really great read and I look forward to what the next book brings!

I loved this book from start to finish. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about three headstrong, female protagonists who were all completely different from one another.
Harriet uses magic to protect. Frances uses magic for selfish gain. Annis seems ahead of her time and knows what she wants.
All of them have an important role to play in the story and do that well.
It’s quite difficult for me to review without too many spoilers but it was a great read and very well written.
My only minor negative was that I wasn’t really a fan of how it ended. It just seemed to wrap up so quickly and I didn’t quite buy-in to Annis’ change of attitude. All-in-all, I loved it.
Thank you to Louisa Morgan, NetGalley and Little Brown Book Group/Orbit for the ARC!

Wow.
Honestly, I devoured this. I loved it from the beginning right through to the end.
This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster. The two main characters, Pip and Ravi, were loveable and relatable. I was so invested in them.
I was so wrapped up in Pip’s investigation and I had SO many theories. As I expected, I wasn’t correct about any of them but it was super enjoyable playing detective for a few hours!
It was fun, it was exciting, it was such a nice and easy read.
What wasn’t there to love?
