A super quick read! Braithwaite’s writing style is concise, but effective in getting the plot across. A tale in which the bond of sisterhood is tested with the ultimate sin, murder. Will Korede keep her sister’s secrets or will they become too much to bear? I guess you’ll have to read this one to find out.

This one was so scary! Maybe it was the fact that it takes place near where I live, but I honestly have never been so terrified to read a book before. I think I probably would’ve not been able to finish this one if I was a parent because of the anxiety it would’ve caused about child kidnappings. However, despite its ability to horrify me, it was very predictable — hence the three stars. I feel like after the halfway point, there really wasn’t any substantial plot and could’ve been edited to be more surprising.

This is the best thriller of 2019. A bold, but honest statement. Everyone needs to add this one to their reading list if they’re a fan of creepy, psychological thrillers. With unexpected twists one after another in the second half of the book, it was a crazy fun read. I guarantee you will not see the ending coming!

Wow. Both of our main characters, Natalie and Gabe are so incredibly unlikable that I’m surprised I even finished this one. A sugar daddy and sugar baby relationship is not one I’ve encountered in literature yet and I was very intrigued as to where this story would take me. However, I was disappointed, to say the least. The story was boring and it wasn’t until the last 80 pages or so that something exciting happened. Leave this one off your list. You won’t be missing much.

I am at a loss for words to describe this book. All three of our main characters are truly broken individuals who happen to meet each other at exactly the right time. Through their whirlwind friendship, they learn to cope with the losses they all are carrying emotionally. I loved this one and devoured it in just two sittings. Highly recommend adding this one to your list if you feel comfortable and safe enough to deal with a few tough subjects (homophobia, mental illness, and suicide).

I enjoyed this one way more than Sager’s first book and I am glad I gave him another chance. With so many twists, this is an AWESOME thriller. I now have his third novel on hold at my local library and can only hope it’s half as great as this one is. Highly recommend!

A cutesy novel that tells the love story of Cassidy, an out and proud lesbian, and Katie, who was once engaged to a man, but is now unsure about her sexuality. While some might disregard this novel as “fluff” or yet another contemporary romance, the author does a fantastic job approaching modern misconceptions about the LGBTQ+ community. I was rooting for their love throughout the entirety of the story and highly recommend reading this one. It is a quick, but essential read as it highlights a topic that still lacks representation in modern day literature.

I was so ready to write this review and say that this novel was too predictable and tell my literary loving friends not to waste their time reading this book. BUT, then the twist came — yes I knew part of it, but not the whole truth. I found myself having to pick my jaw off the floor while reading the last few chapters of this one. A fantastic, suspenseful novel that should be on every thriller lover’s bookshelf!

This book really surprised me... first off, I wish I had seen the trigger warnings before reading this in its entirety (gang rape and gun violence), as some scenes caught me by surprise. They are graphic and hard to get through, but from my standpoint, worth it. Secondly, Ani, our main character, is one of the most dynamic characters I have encountered in a book this year. Some might find her unlikeable, but I found myself very intrigued by her past and how it shaped her present-day self. In regards to the Gone Girl comparisons, I just don’t see it. I think only Gillian Flynn can do what Gillian Flynn does best: psychological thrillers with crazy female leads. This one I would classify as more of a suspense novel... so if you decide to read this one, don’t go into it with the Gone Girl mentality.

While I loved the almost poetic writing in this one, I couldn’t give it more than 3 stars. In short, it was an okay legal drama with a big twist at the end that I sure as hell didn’t see coming. Not sure if I will read anymore of this author’s work in the future... but time will tell!
