Onyx takes place right after Obsidian. Katy and Daemon are facing the DOD this time and are trying to stay out of their lives. A new boy named Blake moves in and starts to seek out Katy romantically, but he says he can help Katy with her problems. Can he really?
With Blake being in the picture, I really thought it was hilarious how Daemon would “purposely” forget his name each time and make up a new name to annoy Katy. Katy’s growth was great. I really enjoy Katy because she is a bookworm with a blog and isn’t super skinny and considers herself curvy, which is amazing. Daemon is hilarious as ever and has the best one liners. The ending was an oh my gosh ending and made me crave the sequel right away. Highly recommend this series so far.

Seasons of the Storm is about a few teenagers who have been saved by death, by a god named Gaia. Gaia gives them the choice to either die or become a season. Each season must kill one another and the vicious cycle repeats. However, Jack and Fleur love one another and that is forbidden.
I dnfed this book because the writing was flat and boring. We are thrown into the story and not given much information about the magic system. Also, we are told that the two characters love each other, but we don’t see any chemistry at all. I wish I would have loved this.

3.5/5 Stars
Since I was 12, New Moon was one of my least favorite books out of the series. Mainly because it has more Jacob in it and Edward is gone. Now at 24, it is still the same, but I just don’t like how Bella is so obsessed with Edward that she can’t really live and has nightmares. Also, she uses Jacob and I don’t think that is fair. It is still a good, addicting story, but I feel like it is one of the weakest book of the series. I love all the banter in the book and the feel good moments. I still do love this series.

Crier is a noble and not human. Ayla is human and becomes Crier’s handmaiden. Crier sympathies with humans and believes she is flawed. She is engaged to a man who is starting his own revolution and wants to better their species race. But, how far will he go? Will he actually support Crier and her beliefs? Ayla becomes Crier’s handmaiden to spy and to ultimately kill Crier. Will she go through with it? Or will her feelings grow for Crier?
Crier’s war definitely had political intrigue. I wanted to know more about their world and the divide. It was interesting to see the council and how they deliberated. It felt like there was a mystery in this story that made you want to know what happened to certain people. I did feel like this story jumped around a bit and had a slow pacing. I probably will try to give the sequel a chance.

DNF.
Hood is about Isabelle, who is Robin Hood’s secret daughter. Even Isabelle doesn’t even know who her father is. However, after shooting a solider in her home town, she is forced to flee from the Wolf who is hunting her because she is Robin Hood’s daughter. As she flees she becomes entwined with The Merry Men in Sherwood. From there she tries to become one of The Merry Men.
Hood has a great premise for a retelling of Robin Hood. I felt that some of the writing felt juvenile. I felt bored at times and didn’t feel connected with any of the characters.

This story is about Karina and Malik and is told from their point of views. Karina is a crown Princess who grieves after her mother’s death that was by assassination. She plans to use ancient magic, that may or may not be real to bring her mother back from the dead since she is not ready to rule. She has to solve riddles to get items for her mother’s resurrection. With the Solstasia Festival, there are competitors and she decides that this years prize will be her hand in marriage. She does that because one of the items she needs for her mother’s resurrection is a King’s heart.
Malik enters the Solstasia Festival games in false pretenses to become a competitor. His ultimate goal is to get close to Karina and kill her for his own personal reasons. As he gets closer to Karina, will he develop feelings and be even able to kill her like he plans?
A Song of Wraiths and Ruin has been one of my anticipated reads of 2020. I love the cover and thought the description sounded really intriguing. I really enjoyed both of the characters point of views. And I really enjoyed seeing the Solstasia Festivals and challenges that Malik had to go through. I did feel like Karina was a bit immature and didn’t think her plan for her mother’s resurrection was really necessary and solid. It was just there and didn’t have much reason behind it. There are plot twists in this book and they were well executed. Still a really good book and the Western Folklore that was intwined in it was really good and executed nicely.

The Boundless takes place after The Beholder and moreover follows the quest of the crew instead of Selah finding suitors. There is a lot of sleuthing, secrets, and drama that goes on in this book.
I really enjoyed this sequel and thought it was nice that Selah was not falling in love with other men this time, but was more focused on helping her crew with their mission/quest. There was action in this book. I loved her growth from book one. She definitely grows to be able to speak up for herself and to put her foot down on things she feels passionate about. I did not like the almost new love interest in this book and felt like it took away from the book a bit. Overall this wrapped up really well.

Goddess Machine is about a teenage girl named Andra who was supposed to wake on a new planet named Holymyth 100 years after being put into cryonic sleep. However, she wakes up 1000 years later by a bastard prince. When she awakes people keep calling her goddess even though she really isn’t. Everyone is suspecting her to perform a miracle and save humanity since it is failing. Can she do it? Also, what does the bastard prince, Zhade want from Andra. Could they both use one another to save one another?
First of all, I love this cover. I have the Owlcrate edition and feels like it gives desert vibes, which is perfect because a part of the book takes place in the desert.
I really loved all the twists and turns in Goddess in the Machine. A lot of the twists I did not see coming and some made me gasp out loud. The growth we see Andra go through is great. She starts out as this scared teenager and morphs into this person who owns what she is supposed to be. Zhade was an interesting character and a great love interest for Andra. Zhade had a lot of funny one liners due to him not necessarily understanding Andra’s speech. I really loved the friendship between Andra and Lew as well as Zhade and Lew.
The things I didn’t like was the speech. Yes, it was unique and made the story really unique, which I liked. But, I didn’t like it a bit because at some points it was hard to understand/comprehend, at least for me. Then, I felt like Andra was very forgiving of Zhade.
Overall, I recommend this to anyone.

The Princess Will Save You starts out with Amarande’s father, the King dying a mysterious death. The council believes his heart failed him, by Amarande believes her father was murdered. Due to her father’s death, she must marry in order to become Queen. She doesn’t believe she should follow these barbaric, outdated laws. She proposes to her council and people she should be able to rule without marriage. However, at the funeral, a few princes come and one named Renard gives the council a wedding contract. Amarande believes if she was to marry, then it should be out of love and there is one man she already loves, Luca, who is a stable boy and her best friend. Pirates kidnap Luca and leave a ransom note saying to marry Renard or her love will die. Instead of sitting around and getting married, Amarande goes after Luca and the pirates in a quest to find him.
The Princess Will Save You is told in multiple view points. It is action packed and is mostly set in a desert. Princess Amarande is brave and strong willed. She will not let no be an answer and tries to find different solutions to her problems that she is faced.
I really enjoyed the adventure and action in the book. The last sixty-six percent of the book was pure action and left you on the edge of the seat. The world building was great and I can’t wait to explore more of the world in the sequel. The only thing I didn’t like was that Amarande only realized she loved Luca once she received the ransom note. I felt like it was kind of on the border line of instant love. Other than that I loved this Princess Bride inspired book and cannot wait to read the sequel.

Trigger Warning: Rape and sexual assault.
Rachel has a famous podcast that follows true crime and trials. For her season three podcast she is following a rape case. Rape cases are basically a he said she said thing and Rachel is sure she will help find the truth on what really happened. However, once she arrives for the trial, Rachel starts receiving letters from a girl named Hannah who believes her sister, Jenny was murdered over 25 years ago. Jenny was said to drown and that was that. But, Hannah believes it was more and recounts that year and that night to Rachel through letters. These letters have Rachel intrigued and she starts to investigate the death of Jenny and makes her believe that Jenny just didn’t drown.
I am love thrillers and tend to be a psychological thriller fanatic. I usually don’t like legal thrillers, but I saw a lot of buzz about this so I decided to request it off of Netgalley with their new audiobook option. The audio kind of sounded echoey, but it wasn’t too bad and I was still able to listen and enjoy the book as I walked Riot. I thought The Night Swim was really gripping and interesting. It made me invested in both cases. I loved the two point of views as well as the podcast chapters. I did feel like with the podcast chapters and Rachel’s chapters there was some repetitiveness from the trial. Also, I guessed who was Jenny’s murder at the beginning of the book, so it wasn’t a huge surprise to me. Still a really good book and it takes in what really happens with rape cases and how awful it is with it being a more he said she said thing and with the victim having to relive their experience over. It is traumatizing. The Night Swim is a real eye opener and I would love to see more Rachel in the future.
