I normally would have given this probably 4 stars but the ending just felt kind of dropped off in a rush and I wasn't as satisfied as I had hoped.

This book deals with Sonya and her addiction to alcohol. It gets so bad that her father, who has barely been in her life lately, is scared of what could happen to her 4 year old Tommy.

She goes to rehab and it seems to do the trick (she does drink once right after she leaves but doesn't the rest of the story). But hey getting Tommy back will take time. There is a councilor she had seen that comes back into her regular life and is just horrible. I didn't like him and what he did to her one it. He makes her feel like she's losing her mind though he's just trying to break her down to his wants.

I found myself rooting for Sonya- cheering her on through rehab and hoping she can recover herself when she relapsed.

I love good family drama with mystery and this had a lot of it!

Sienna is part of a big Italian family that runs a very successful restaurant. Her Nonna Cara is a spitfire of a woman and when Cara collapses at a party it's a shock. Even more shocking is when at the hospital, Cara tells Sienna that someone tried to kill her. Sienna doesn't know if it's the medicine talking or Nonna telling the truth.

Sienna is also still dealing with the loss of her husband 5 years ago. He was killed in a car accident and they've never been able to solve the hit and run. What jerks get going is her family and her daughter Lola.

Wow. This family has layers upon layers of secrets. Sienna is the only one who thinks Cara is telling the truth and sets out to find out the truth. She gets so many bombshells thrown at her, I felt sorry for her and all the lies she's had buried in her family.

This book was so great and I'm thankful for AJ reaching out to me to read.

I always highly enjoy Shalvis's books for the relationships, not only between the 2 MCs but often relationships of families in the books.

Levi and Jane, strangers, are trapped in a snowstorm in a ski gondola. When the one in front of them falls, Levi calls his mom. Thinking he could die, he tells her he's happy and that he's with his girlfriend, Jane.

Jane has never had a great family unit, being shuffled from home to home between relatives. So she reluctantly agrees to be Levi's girlfriend for a family party.

I really like Levi's family. I like what they do to get to know Jane. I like how sweet and patient Levi is. Their chemistry is amazing. I love that we also get a side romance story between Jane's friend Charlotte and Mateo.

I did not read book 1 first but I didn't feel like I really needed to (though I might want to go back TO read it). I got along with the book just fine. I like that we got to see a little bit of what happened in the rehab center for Prue (but with a gut wrenching loss).

You get to see most of Prue after she leaves rehab. She is still having her sex addiction haunt her on the outside. She wants to do better for her son, especially in the midst of her divorce from his father. But the demons are still there and coming for her. She does really well at going to therapy and meetings. I just felt proud of her. I have not gone through a tough addiction like the people in this book, but I have seen someone close to me go through battling alcohol addiction. They got through it with the help of family and friends. I believe that's ultimately what helps Prue get through it too.

This psychological thriller was so fantastic!

Phoebe is a mortuary cosmetologist. (There is a scene at the beginning describing her working on an eye and I have an eye thing so I almost threw this book down!) But it was small scene and quickly moved on.

A woman has died and though her coworkers try to keep Phoebe away, she sees the woman and she looks exactly like her! She also recognizes a tattoo on the woman that's she seen before.... On her dead husband's phone before he died.

This sets her on a quest that sends her to some dangerous places in life and in her mind. This book was so fast paced and I loved how it ended!

Such a cute story! Who wouldn't want a book that what you wrote inside came true? Poly and her very active imagination brings this to life at her school fair.
Full of cute drawings and funny stuff happening. Great characters (like Dawson Dawsons)

Thanks to booksforwardpr for the gifted book.

3.5
This was an interesting debut. I didn't realize until the end that the use of second person (which seems so rare in books) narration were David's letters to Hope.

David finds out he inherited his grandfather's cabin which throws him as he didn't feel he got along too great with his dad's dad.

David is working at a job for a Boston news station. He meets Hope walking by on the street during an assignment and gets her number. They start dating.

Hope is mysterious about the burns on her body and it takes David so long to get the truth out of her. She was very manipulative and when a few strange things start happening around the cabin, he's quick to blame her.

David befriends an old man Harold and helps take care of him.

Through both Hope and Harold, he unearths the secret his family has held onto for so many years.

Claire has left her band and is hiding in Highland, Georgia for awhile. She got a job being a caretaker for an elderly woman.
.... Trying to go unnoticed in this small town.
She doesn't escape the notice of Holt. He's intrigued by this mysterious Scottish lass. He befriends her and they have an understand as they get to know each other more that this is just a fling.
Holly slowly draws out the past and future role Claire is expected to play in her family.
Holt is such a sweet country boy and Claire is spunky. They have a cute fling.
