This is the third book in the series and, so far, my least favorite—mostly because it didn’t have the same sweetness as the others. Friends-to-lovers isn’t my favorite trope, and that might have played a role too. That said, the stepdaughter character was absolutely adorable and added a lot of heart to the story. While this one didn’t quite hit the mark for me, I still enjoyed it and definitely plan to keep reading the series.
Much like the first book in the series, Head Over Heels is a very sweet and heartwarming romance. The storyline is engaging, with just the right balance of tension and tenderness to keep you hooked from beginning to end. The characters are incredibly likable—so genuine and well-developed that you can’t help but root for them every step of the way. Karla Sorensen has a knack for creating a world you want to stay in, and I’m so glad there are more books to look forward to in the series. I can’t wait to spend more time with these characters!
I really thought I was going to love The Love Haters, but it just didn’t deliver. It wasn’t the fun, summery escape I expected based on the reviews. The story dragged, the characters felt flat and unrelatable, and there was zero spice. If it takes me nearly two weeks to finish a romance, that’s a red flag. Sadly, this one just didn’t work for me.
Solid 4 stars! I almost DNF’d Magpie because the first 20% felt slow and hard to get into, but I’m so glad I stuck with it! Once the story picked up, I couldn’t put it down. It gave off serious Freida McFadden vibes and kept me guessing right up until the final pages. The writing wasn’t exceptional, but the plot twists and pacing in the second half more than made up for it. Worth pushing through the slow start!
Such a fun beach read! I’m a sucker for the marriage of convenience and sports hero tropes, and this book delivered. The romance was sweet and swoony, and I’m so excited there are four more Wilder siblings to read about!
In typical Freida fashion, this book gave me whiplash with all its twists and turns—in the best way possible. Unlike some of her other thrillers, I felt the characters in The Tenant were especially well developed; I actually grew attached to them, which made the suspense hit even harder.
I literally could not put this book down, and reading it as a buddy read made the experience even better. The only reason I’m not giving it a full 5 stars is because of a few choices Blake made that felt unnecessary and honestly kind of annoying. But overall, it’s another addictive, twisty ride from McFadden that I’d absolutely recommend.
The final installment in the series totally gave me all the Hallmark princess movie vibes—in the best way possible! I absolutely loved the charming setting, and the characters were instantly likeable and easy to root for. The story developed at just the right pace—fast enough to keep it engaging, but still sweet and satisfying. I'm especially excited that the author has a whole series based on this royal family. It was the perfect way to wrap up the collection!
Ashley Poston’s short story delivers a whimsical take on the familiar “always the bridesmaid, never the bride” trope, with a magical twist: the protagonist believes she’s cursed—every person she kisses finds true love, just not with her. It’s a clever and charming premise that sets the stage for a light, fast-paced romantic comedy.
The story leans into Poston’s signature humor and heart, and the dialogue is snappy and fun. However, the short format leaves little room to truly connect with the characters. Just as you start to care about their journey, it’s already wrapping up. While the concept is undeniably cute, it feels a bit rushed—like a spark that doesn’t have time to fully catch fire.
If you enjoy bite-sized love stories with a quirky edge, this might hit the spot. But if, like me, you prefer time to settle in and fall for the characters, this one might leave you wishing for a full-length novel instead.
This was a long but beautiful biography of Michelle Obama—an inspiring story of personal growth, resilience, service, and deep love for family. Through her words, we witness both the private and public moments that shaped her, from the heartbreaking (like the time she was publicly ridiculed for a protocol misstep with Queen Elizabeth) to the joyful (like simple date nights at the theater with her husband). She offers a powerful inside look at what it means to be First Lady, along with some thoughtful insight into President Obama as both a leader and a partner. Just when I thought I couldn’t love her more… I do. The only sad note? Her confirmation that she has no interest in running for office. Still, her influence is undeniable, and this memoir left me grateful for her voice.
