The Sun and Her Flowers is a collection of poetry about grief, self-abandonment, love, and more, split into 5 chapters.
What they don't tell you is that the book flits from one topic to the other randomly and with no real transition. One second Kaur is talking about immigration and the next, she talks about female infanticide. Later, from sex positivity to the standards in the beauty industry. And there are many more rapid transitions like these.
I felt like the book was trying too hard to be woke and really new age. It was obviously pushing an agenda of self-love, confidence, and embracing one's roots. It was trying way too hard to be meaningful. It fell flat and wasn't impactful.
This time, the format and writing style made me skim a lot of the book. It made me want to flip the page every second or two, meaning I didn't spend a lot of time on this book. The lack of punctuation made me skim lines rather than pause to read the words. This wasn't a case of I was super excited to read this book, so I read it as fast as I could. It was the case of me trying to finish this book so I didn't have to read it anymore.

The Hundreds summer camp used to be magical... until the accident that tore a family apart. As Quinn grapples the loss of her friend (and crush), she can't help but think of the new boy, Alexander, who doesn't think of her as a monster.
Seriously, how amazing was Dylan?! He managed to get not one, not two, but three siblings (and me) to fall in love with him.
I absolutely hated some of the characters in this book, specifically Quinn and Fern. Yes, I know Fern was a bitch to Quinn because she was in love with Dylan and he died. But, it's not like Quinn murdered Dylan, it was an accident. Also, how can she believe that Quinn and Reed were making fun of her? She and Quinn were super close. Not to mention both of them were in love with Dylan. Also, Quinn was so annoying, always letting everyone else to walk all over her.
My favorite part of romances is rooting for the main couple, but I couldn't really do that with this book because Quinn was so unlikeable.
This book has two sections that flit back and forth: the summer with Dylan (past) and the a few months later (current). I personally liked the summer section better, and I found myself hoping the current events would have a shorter chapter (they usually didn't).
The only part of this book I liked was anything with Dylan. He deserved better and I was sad throughout the end of the book because he was dead and nothing would come from him.

The Metamorphosis describes the life of Gregor Samsa and his family following the morning Gregor transforms into a gigantic insect. Guilt, alienation, and fear are present throughout the work as the Samsa family has to come to terms with Gregor's new body.
I liked the ending. I knew from the beginning that this wasn't going to have a happy ending and I'm glad I was right. From time to time, a dark, sad story is exactly what I need and this delivered.
This book flipped back and forth between 3 or 4 stars. I ended up giving it a three, mainly because I'm trying to be more strict with my rating system, but also because there were some flaws with the story. For example, I thought Grete as a character changes randomly from being kind to rude (and vice versa) to Gregor (in his insect state) with no apparent reasoning.

When Percy receives a distress call from his friend Grover, he finds himself surrounded by allies and enemies as the Titan Lord, Kronos, is growing stronger.
This was my second time reading this book/series.
I really liked this book, but it really isn't 5 star, wow material. It was still really good and really easy to get through (when I wasn't reading in the car while being slightly carsick).
I really liked Percy and Thalia's relationship in this book. It was fun to read.
I do love this book, but nothing really wowed me enough to want to give it 5 stars. I will read the whole series though.

Jane and Cal both work at the NY Journal and their best friends are getting married. After hate at first sight, Cal and Jane find themselves stuck in a villa together trying to fix their friends wedding.
I read this book in one sitting and it was really easy to get through. The story isn't that original, but it was good.
There were some parts of the story where I though some things were completely unnecessary or weird. Like, when Cal writes about wanting to give mouth-to-mouth to Peter's great-grandmother just for the kick of it.
I also thought it was sweet and weird how Jane wrote everything down while she and Cal were talking. Like, they are supposed to be having a conversation, so why does she feel like it is a great opportunity to record memories on paper (rather than through a phone--and later add the conversation into the book as a transcript)?
I liked the enemies-to-lovers romance. It was cute and enjoyable to read (mostly).

On the run, John (Four), Sam, and Six find themselves on the run. Seven, on the other hand, is stuck at a convent. With Mogadorians hunting all of them, they must survive impossible odds to save their planet and their kind.
I read this with the physical book and audiobook.
The beginning of this book was really slow, I debated continuing this series at that point. However, the end made up for it and I will probably continue this series (it'll just take a while).
I really liked Six and John's blossoming relationship in this one.
I also liked the introduction of Nine .
I thought some of Seven's and Ten's chapters were boring.
Overall, a pretty average book.

Macbeth, wanting the crown, murders his king, friends, and servants for it, only to lose everything else.
The language was hard to understand, and it made the overall story not as enjoyable. The audiobook helped, but nonetheless, not understanding much of it made it hard to like the book.

As things are finally looking up for Lizzie in the career department, her personal life seems to be crashing and burning. After spending New Year's Eve making out with her best friend's ex, Lizzie is proposed to by her ex, Luke. As things get more and more complicated, Lizzie's big mouth can only make things worse than they are right now.
I had to spoil this book for myself so that I could finish this book. The second and third book of this series completely negates what happens in the first book, kinda like what the [b:A Court of Thorns and Roses|16096824|A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1)|Sarah J. Maas|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1546406962l/16096824._SY75_.jpg|21905102] series did. I do like that Lizzie and Chaz got together, but the way it was done wasn't the best.
There were a lot of things that were clearly added just to propel the plot, but in non-realistic ways. A lot of the things in this book was unusual and unrealistic.
There were some parts of the book that I thought did not like. Some bits were cringy, some bits were okay, and some bits were good. I honestly could've done without reading the last two books of this trilogy.

Two timelines, one five years ago, when Mia met Grace, where Grace left and they never talked again. One current day, where Mia and her crew of reconstructors go to the mystical land called The Staircase in the hopes of reuniting Mia and Grace.
What I Liked:
[a: Tillie Walden|13560692|Tillie Walden|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1525905931p2/13560692.jpg]'s art style is absolutely beautiful. The magical realism and the coloration is really amazing.
The coloration of the scenes change depending on the time or location. That made distinguishing the different timelines and locations much easier.
What I Didn't Like:
Since this is a graphic novel, not a lot of information is directly given to us. This means there were some times where I was confused on who was there in a specific scene, or where things were happening at.
This always happens with graphic novels, but I didn't have any connection to any character or couple. It's much harder to get emotion or any characteristics out of people in book format without written text, and as a result, everyone seemed very flat and one sided.
Overall:
This really wasn't a bad book. It just wasn't special.

Summary:
This is a graphic novel depicting aliens doing mundane tasks while explaining them in the most common and plain way possible.
What I Liked:
I liked reading and trying to figure out what they were doing from their plain explanations. It was amusing to see how we've come to name things in specific ways that aren't direct, like how the "star damage limiter" was sunscreen.
This book had a cute art style that is easy on the eyes. Nothing was too complicated or hard to decipher.
What I Didn't Like:
There's nothing really special about this book. It's plain and not significant.
Overall:
This was a cute graphic novel that was easy to read and wasn't that boring. It's an easy book, not though-provoking and never challenges the reader. It is the epitome of a 3 star book.
