Absolutely loved this one! I was drawn in by all the different character stories right from the beginning and could not put this book down!
I loved how the author tied together the different characters stories to make them all work with what was going on. It all was so exciting and I couldn’t wait to see how it all played out.
Highly recommend this book!

2023 re-read due to the show coming out … still love it and love the show so much

I absolutely love this world the Leigh Bardugo has created. Everything about it is so unique and so interesting that I think she could continually come up with me stories about the Grisha and I would read them.
I absolutely loved this book, I flew through it because there was never a dull moment. It started off quick and never slowed down. I really enjoyed that Bardugo took her time with telling the story of Alina's discover and her training. Some authors move too quickly with those things but that's half the fun in reading books like this. Now we have two more books to get into the real heart of the story and what is going to happen next.
I am so excited to get to the next book! It's going to have to wait a little because I don't have book 3 yet but as soon as possible I'm going to read Siege and Storm!

It’s amazing how differently you can look at a book when you haven’t read it in a very long time. I think I liked this book even more the second time around after having watched the show and put a face to all these complex characters… Jesper is still my favorite character in the book but the last time I read it I didn’t like Nina and now I love her character. Maybe it was getting to know her more later that changed my viewpoint in this book but there is so much more to her than I realized the first time reading this one.
I’m really glad I decided to pick up this series again after all this time!

4.5/5 stars
I wasn't crazy about all the characters in the book. I loved Jesper and Wylan, Inej was alright, but I wasn't really a fan of Nina or Kaz ... idk maybe that's just me.
I absolutely loved the storyline though and it makes up for all of the things I didn't like about the characters. It was so fast paced and action packed! There were constant twists and turns and I loved it. I wasn't sure how a second book tied in but I definitely didn't see the ending coming, even though I probably should have, it was fairly obvious.
Over all, very good book and I look forward to reading the second one.

2023 reread:
I enjoyed this one much more the second time reading it. I actually think I liked this one just as much as Six of Crows this time around. I forgot how brilliant the whole scheme in this one was and I definitely liked the characters better in this one than I did while reading the first book

First, I thought Six of Crows was the better of the two books in the series.
Second, this gets 4 stars because the end salvaged it. Until the last 120 or so pages I was prepared to give it 3 stars.
There was just something about this book that didn't quite flow as well as the first book for me. I think it might have been because of all the flashbacks and a lot more personal stuff being added into it. I still don't get the obsession with Kaz, I think he's a good character but I'm not swooning over him. I think Wylan and Jesper are the best characters in the story. Inej is great too and I liked Nina a lot more in this book than the first book.
But really it was the con at the end of the book that really did it for me. I was reading it totally stunned by how genius the whole thing was.
This was definitely a solid series, definitely worth the read. I just love the world of Grisha and can't wait to see what Bardugo does next.

You read books like these and you always wait for the big twist when one of the “good guys” turns out to be a bad guy. The Only Survivors follows a group of 7 (formerly 9) who survived a horrific car accident when they were in high school. Every year they get together on the anniversary of the accident to check in on each other, make sure no one looks like they’re going to break and talk about what really happened that night …
With flashback throughout you slowly learn what happened hour by hour after the crash, going backwards from when they were found and ending with what led to the crash. I have to say, part of me laughed a little towards the end. Not because it was bad but because I really did not expect the story to go the way it did. There are subtle hints throughout the book but I really just wasn’t expecting it to go the way it did and I thoroughly enjoy it when that happens in a book!
Really looking forward to seeing what Megan Miranda comes up with next!

3.5/5 rounded up!
So … I’ve read enough mysteries to be able to figure some stuff out when the right clues are dropped. I figured out one of the big plot twists within the first 25 pages of the book for this one though …
I thought it was kinda obvious but I had to read to the end to make sure I was actually right. I was. But there was another twist that I definitely did not see coming and for that it gets the extra half star!
All in all it was definitely a good book and it was a super quick read despite the length so if you’re looking for a YA mystery this one should definitely be considered!
Also, major props to Melissa de la Cruz for showing how important a service animal can be!

This book doesn’t just deserve 5 stars, it’s deserves a thousand fucking stars
