Me and hyped books don’t usually get along and this is another case of a very hyped book falling flat for me…..
3.5/5 stars rounded down for this one
I love the premise behind this book… but I didn’t love the execution. I wasn’t sure what to expect when going into it because I’d been avoiding reading a lot of reviews and can snippets of what the book was truly about and it didn’t really do anything for me.
I didn’t think the romance aspect was anything special and I didn’t think the fantasy aspect was anything special. It had some good moments in the book when I thought I would start to like it more and then it would go back to the parts I wasn’t enjoying as much. I loved seeing Addie go through time and tell her story but I felt like we got so little of it after the initial 50 years. And then I’d wait for the romance to pick up just to start thinking that it can’t really be love in the situation she was in ….
I don’t know, maybe it’s just me but I thought the book was just okay. It had some great lines in it and had some really great moments but the whole thing just fell short for me

I liked the overall premise of this book, a group of teens are locked in an abandoned mall with their homicidal boss after the movie theater they work in closes up for the last time …
The execution wasn’t the best in my opinion. There were parts that kept me on the edge of my seat, wondering what was going to happen next and then there were times where I thought the writing was very choppy and all over the place.
I received an ARC of this one and I hope they ironed out some of the issues because there was one point where she mixed names up and I had to go back and reread it like 3 times before I realized she just switched people around.
Definitely not a bad read, definitely not one of the better YA thrillers though. It kept up the action until the very end which is always a bonus in my book

I have yet to read an Ellery Adams book I haven’t enjoyed and this was unexpectedly good!
I love that the settings of all her books are for book lovers and this tale is set in a hotel that caters to book lovers! Similar in many ways to the Secret, Book & Scone Society books, this one features a lot of food and friendship and mystery… with a big twist you won’t see coming. The twist was totally out there but tied the whole story together quite nicely and I look forward to reading more books in the series to see what other things Jane can discover within Storyton Hall!

This was a really interesting take on the rise of President Snow, when he was still a universally student and the Hunger Games were still in their early stages. I feel like a huge portion of the book was an attempt to make Snow seem like a more sympathetic character but I could tell right from the beginning that anything he thought he was feeling wasn’t really true. The characters just weren’t anything special to me and it focused so little on the actual Hunger Games that I was a little disappointed in this one …
This one is definitely more academic and political than the original trilogy and less exciting.
I am curious to see how the movie is though!

Another great addition to The Secret Book and Scone Society series! If you enjoy cozy mysteries I highly recommend this series and it’s got a little bit of everything in it!
In book 6 Nora is forced to face her past that she has worked so hard to put behind her. You get to learn even more about Nora than you did in any of the previous books and you get to learn a little more about her ex husband as well.
I’m definitely more neutral to this book than I have been about some of the others. I enjoyed it and there were times I didn’t want to put it down but sometimes I think all the murder is over the top and would love to see some more minor crimes being the focus of the series but maybe that’s just me

After her father is accused of being a traitor, Winnie and her family are considered outcasts of the Wednesday clan. Trying to regain some of her family’s status from before, Winnie decides to take on the hunter trials. Should she pass, she will be a full fledged hunter of the nightmares that roam the woods of Hemlock Falls every night.
Loved the concept of this book, thought the storytelling was pretty great as well. Winnie isn’t my favorite main character but overall she’s not too bad. Really looking forward to seeing what happens next though!

Normally I’m a big Madeleine Roux fan… this book was just so weird though.
I loved the concept, two best friends playing with magic and ending up in the middle of their favorite book except everything it wrong …
But the execution wasn’t great in my opinion and I kept finding my mind drifting off while I was reading it and things didn’t always flow great.
Maybe it just wasn’t the time to read it for me but I just thought the whole book was really weird. And then the ending was so abrupt but there could be another book now based on how it ended and I don’t know …
Weird is the best way I can think to sum up this book so I’m just going to say it again… it was a weird one.

Honestly, there wasn’t much that was thrilling about this book…
It got off to a good start, a group of people sailing off to a deserted island together and encountering another couple already there. It’s the setup for what could be a really good story. But I felt like most of the book was just drama between the characters with a momentary possible twist that didn’t do anything. The only thrilling part was like the last 40 pages and even that wasn’t all that thrilling in my opinion.
I still got through the book pretty quickly though because I wanted to know what was going to happen but overall I was not that impressed with how the whole story went.
