I quite enjoyed this book. I love the premise of a MM bully book and this was done pretty well.
The start is rough, not a lot is explained and things are just known without any reason for that happening. But as the book wears on that’s mostly fixed. There are some continuity issues and I wish Mary was note consistent, but it’s okay.
I loved the setting and the injection of religion. I do wish the language was a little more consistent as well, but these are relatively small issues.
The book is solid, I liked Taylor and want to see his story.
Jonah and Roman are great characters with a ton of depth.
If bully books are your thing, give this a go.

I so wanted to love this book, just as I loved Kerri’s previous books. And KotW is a solid book, but it didn’t take my heart like Audrey rose and Thomas did.
To start, I found this book very slow. There’s a lot of world building, which is so incredibly rich, but moves the plot along at a snails pace.
Also, because it’s Emilia by herself, it lacks a little something. Wrath is good but he lacks the sass I wanted and needed.
I also found that not enough information is given, which is ironic given the amount of world building. But I found it didn’t loosen up until about 60%.
I also found things happened too easily. I felt like, especially given the tasks, it should’ve been more difficult.
I liked this world, I liked Wrath, but I felt it was lacking a little bit and almost felt rushed. Still, this is a solid book and I look forward to the second one!

This book grew on me. At first I didn’t like Sabine, Bastien, or Jules but again, they grew on me.
The world building here is done in a great way, slowly, steadily, but not at all obtrusively. The characters are strong, details are many, but not overwhelming.
I do like Aisleen and liked her story. I wish we got a little more of bastien.
I’m eagerly waiting the second book.

There’s a lot to like about this book.
I love the sass, and the darkness. I like the imagery and the challenging topics, the questioning of faith and purpose.
But I was also a little confused about the names. I couldn’t pronounce them properly, I’d love a pronunciation guide, if for nothing else, accuracy.
But this is a solid book, a series I will continue.

This was a great duo. I love Asian fantasy and this one is so rich. The love story is refreshing and strong and sweet.
I do think that at times some of the actions are a little simple, but I’m not a fan of the over complicated either.
This is a great duo and I highly recommend it!

I absolutely adored this book!
Camille had me hooked right from the very start. I felt for her, I wanted good things for her, and then she started to drive me crazy!
Lazare and Chandon are fantastic characters as well and I loved the touch of queer with Chandon. I’d love to see his story.
This story is so rich, so visual, so tactile. Do yourself a favour and watch Sophia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette while you’re reading, it’ll blow your mind!
This story had the right amount of romance, intrigue, revolution, and hardship to keep me oh so invested.
I can’t believe it took me this long to read and that more people aren’t shouting about this book from the rooftops! I need the next book like, yesterday!

3.5 stars.
I loved the premise of this book! A historical YA MM book? Love!
But the story fell short for me and halfway through I wanted to DNF. But I persevered. Mostly because I was closer to the end than finish.
I loved the locations in this book, and I loved the privateers, but Monty was pretty unlikable, and so was felicity for that matter.
I won’t be continuing with this series, but it will be right for others!

This book has a lot of potential, but I don’t think it lived up to it.
I think the characters are solid but could’ve done with a little more development and transformation. I would’ve liked to have seen both Brady and Natalie before they meet, their lives as they were before. I did really like Bash, Annabelle, Chloe, and Tiffany intrigued me.
I would’ve liked to have seen this book stretched out too. It feels like everything was just getting started and it ended. The hitch at the end was over in a matter of pages and came out of the blue, something even one of the characters notices. It would’ve built the suspense so much more if it was built throughout the book and not fixed so easily.
The whole book almost has a rushed feel to it, something not entirely fully developed. The info dump in the epilogue is symptomatic of this.
I also found the writing style a little clunky. The use of contractions, or non use, made for a stilted reading experience and I felt some of the dialogue again, needed to be stretched out more. Not everything needs to be said in one response, there can be back and forth.
The story here is a nice one, I just think it needs a little more work. Sorry!

A great end to a great series.
I love the romance, even though I still ship Tric!
I adore the humour. I love the intrigue.
I did find it a little predictable, but it’s still a great book, and a great series!

I always have a hard time with retelling books. Here,I’m unsure as to whether I have too much knowledge of Les Mis, or not enough. I think to call this a retelling is a stretch. It’s an alternate version of it, from Epony’s POV, rather than Cosette’s.
But I did enjoy it. I would’ve liked if there was more of Nina being the black cat and doing daring things, rather than just Nina being Nina, but she’s a great character.
I also wished there was more romance. With 3 possible romantic leads there was a shocking lack of it. I remember it being central to the original story.
I also wanted more of the guilds. I felt like this story was built to be many things, but was actually just one and I felt a little let down by that.
Still, it’s a good read and I did enjoy it.
