Ohhh wow! The last couple of pages really drew me in to the story. I knew that some of the characters were not to be trusted in this volume. It made me feel that my instincts were not too far off. I can't wait to get a couple more Mangas in this series.

Black Butler was actually quite good. I am interested in the back story of the Butler and this family in particular. I can't wait to continue to go farther. I did notice that some of the language was definitely a representative of the time of when this manga was written but I can't wait to learn more about the Butler's roles and his oaths.

This manga volume 2 just keeps getting better and better. More and more clues are revealing themselves. These teenagers are committed to that task at hand. I love how the main character loves his little sister and would do anything for her. The art in this manga is good also!

This graphic novel was what I need to wrap up my reading in the month of February. This book explored interracial couples, root magic, intergenerational connectedness, LGBTQAI+ in the 60s, single parents, bad partners, gender expression, chosen family, and love. I love reading about Snapdragon and her new love for the anatomy of small mammals. I loved her figuring out the witchcraft in this town and how it is connected to her family. This was a cute book that covered so many topics in such a well-written and designed way. I love it.

I read this comic with the lens that it was made in the 60s. At this time, Black artists and drawing black people were not popular. I was shocked to see that Black Panther was a grey throughout the issue and so was Wakandans. The storyline was a bit hard for me to follow because it was filled with heavy western cowboy-ish language. This language seemed to be something that Stan Lee preferred to write. Which has more to do with his upbringing and what he was accustomed to seeing and hearing.
Also, the Fantastic Four members used stereotypical and sometimes derogatory words in describing the Black Panther, Wakanda, and the content of Africa. You can tell this comic was a comic of its time. On the other hand, I am still excited to read more because this is the first time that Black Panther appeared in the MCU.

I found this story to be slow and I felt that the plot was not fleshed out enough for me to understand what was happening for sure.

This book is set in California but also set in New Orleans at different points of the story as well. This book follows the grooming of a new vampire huntress and her guardians to protect people from vampires. However, there is something specifically special about this new vampire huntress. She has to learn how to stand on her own two feet because one day her guardians may not be there to save her.
I am waiting and still sitting with what I just read. I wanted to wait but decided to write a review right away. This book... to say it is the first in the series. WOW! It has left a mark on me for sure. I thought that I left my vampire-ish reading days behind me in 2010. However, because of this book, it will be making a strong comeback in 2021. I must admit that I was apprehensive in reading this book because I've just been eye-rolling anything vampire-related. This book ties in astrology, planet alignment, hints of root magic, sear magic, and destiny all into one. Each character role is so important to the MC and the overall plot that I can distinctively tell the characters apart. Which is not something I am used to seeing in vampire tropes. Being able to tell the characters apart helps me a lot because I tend to forget names.
The MC is such a badass and determined to protect those that she cares about and those that she won't admit that means something to her. Her guardians guard her with such hellbent desire that it gives a new meaning to what it means to have a "chosen family." Her family is ride or die in the most beautiful ways. Her character development makes you want to want more of her. Her origin story alone lets you know that she is a BIG GOT DAMN DEAL.
I wanted her to live her best life and enjoy all of the things that were robbed from her. I too felt rebellious for her as she did. On the other hand, I feared for her sear and the responsibility that she had to face. To be sear at this dangerous time and facing all of the evil battles that were ahead of them [the guardians] was a strength that I don't think I could have bear if I was the sear.
There was a scene in this book when one of the characters went to the under, underworld and it was so beautifully written that it was as if I was watching a movie before my very own eyes. As the story progressed things started to tie to the beginning of the story. I love it when we go back to the beginning and new clues reveal themselves. The last sentence was most definitely a cliffhanger and now I am here looking for book two. Fantastic. I will be back to this review with either more to say or to rate the book overall. I am just going to sit on the rating for a few more days.
Update: the steamy parts... wow!
WARNING: there are hints of Beastiality in this book.

This is my first manga read that deals with fan service. I am happy that I have people in my life to explain to me what that Fan Service is.
According to google: Keith Russell defines fan service as "the random and gratuitous display of a series of anticipated gestures common in Manga and Anime. These gestures include such things as panty shots, leg spreads, and glimpses of breast."
**Wikipedia source**
This type of manga is different from the other mangas that I have read. I am not comparing them but I am stating that they are different. I found myself uncomfortable with some of the themes of the book in comparison to the age of the characters. Only for me to find out that this manga is a satire on food orgasms. Which makes perfect sense to me now. Which was not the first thought that came to my mind.
I must say that the description of the food made my mouth water. I felt like I was smelling or eating the food just like the main characters. The two main characters are great and pair well. I am hoping the more I get into this manga series that they turn into a romantic interest at some point. The banter between them both is hilarious. Both of them are too arrogant to take the other seriously. I am going to read a few more of the volumes of Food Wars and see how I feel and what I think about the series.
sidenote: don't read this book when you are hungry.
