This is definitely a 4.5. I have to think more to see if its a new favorite and bump it to a 5 star. The Epilogue was a bit flat for me (and so did the prologue now that I think about it). It felt unnecessary but otherwise I LOVED this book. It made my heart ache for multiple reasons; good and bad. I loved the love interest. Eliza's relationship with her parents and brothers reminds me of the Incredibles; who I also love. I liked that there was a kind of dual story line with us following Eliza's life and Monsterous Sea. Though we didn't get as far into that story.

A decent mystery

3.5 stars. I got this book when Amazon was doing a special sale for International Women's Day. This is a popular Swedish series translated into English. You wouldn't know it by reading it though which is great. I've been wanting to read more international books.

It wasn't mind numbing with too many details nor an overly sophisticated murder mystery. I got invested in the characters lives. The ending was a bit abrupt though. Like solving the mystery wasn't the point. And clearly there is a sequel so we can see how their lives turn out. I'll read it but still annoyed by that.

P.S. for the random kpop fan that might read this, watching BTS' Bon Voyage season 1 was very helpful when trying to picture the setting. The boys go to some of the locations mentioned here.

3.5 stars. This is my first real sci fi and it was a good start. I like Binti and her connection with her people and culture. The way the author incorporated her hair into the plot was great too. I just feel like this wrapped up too easily. And that is probably because this is a novella or short story (I forget which). Definitely want to read the rest of this trilogy and try more scifi similar to this but longer. This wasn't satisfying enough.

Got half way through this. I may finish it eventually but my interest is low.

4.5 stars. I was avoiding picking this up because I knew it was more vampire focused. And I don't like the vampires in this series as much. So it was a bit slow in those parts where it was solely focused on them for me. But I like the relationship developments, Wulf will always be interesting, and the various politics between the species is interesting as well. I had forgotten what happened with Sam. I don't know I'm sick so this review is lacklustre but I really liked this book.

This was a good one. I don't always like when we know who dun it early on even though we get to see more about how the killer is captured and the aftermath of that. As interesting as that is, other plot and character developments interest me more. This one wasn't so bad. We got to see how Eve matches evidence with intuition. Even so, it felt a bit easy. That being said, I liked that despite the type of case, we didn't get the same rehash of Eve's background again. Peabody got a lot more work on her own in this one too. One last thing is I think this series needs an update futuristically to stay relevant or realistic. Socially and environmentally things are behind real world events. And a lot of the tech is not as far off from today's as it was when this series began. Just some thoughts.

Yeah, this is a solid 3.5. Changed my original rating because I made it long after I had read this book. Its good. And at the time, a unique type of urban fantasy. I listened to the audiobook this time and its not as amazing as I was expecting from other reviews. But its good. Overall this is definitely an opener. If the Dresden Files had stayed at this level I wouldn't be as big of a fan. I love the magic. Harry is relatable in so many ways. He is the Peter Parker of the wizarding world, or even the urban fantasy world.

This was good. I was left off feeling wow. The idea of the stamps and a person's soul is so cool. Plus, how Shai and other Forger's perceive people and their motivations is very relatable. This is how I see people and actions. We are puzzles. Also, I like how values and what people value is a major underlying topic. What makes one thing more valuable than the other. What adds value and what takes it away. Manipulation was another focus here too. Lastly, the connection to Elantris and the Aon is there too subtly, which I like.

On a related note I read I this arcanum unbounded. So the Selfish system essay was also interesting. I'll be reading all the short stories slowly over the year so I'll do separate reviews as I get to them and then one for the bind up later.
