I liked this, though the 2nd half of the book was wayyy better than the first.
The jumping back and forth between memories/years and Less’ trip present-day got confusing: I listened on audiobook and I’m not sure if that played a part in it being hard to follow. And the perspective /narrator concept made sense and was cool at the end but felt odd at times.
However, I liked how it felt escapist and reflective, was like eat, pray, love actually in some ways. The character arc /journey was also enjoyable.

Liked re-reading this as an adult! I like how much more I picked up on and how it is still a wholesome childrens book. Creative and psychological /philosophical.

So so good. The connection with nature, the way it is a coming of age story and story about perception, prejudice, survival, love, connection.
The twists at the end omg.
And characters were endearing, kya is so cool, I like Tate.
Very wholesome and sad and enjoyable to read.

Loved this!! So cool to listen on audiobook with the different narrators per character. I loved hearing each perspective and learning the plot that way. Enjoyed the little twist at the end and how the characters navigated through relationships, fame, and addiction to define their personal values.

Another great Vonnegut novel! Not my favorite of his but still so thought-provoking and optimistically nihilistic. With the witty dark humor Vonnegut always has.
Themes and topics are anti-war, morality and the gray area/complexity of right vs wrong, ethics, life’s purpose, and love.
I liked that it was written from the perspective of Campbell in jail. Also had some twists & turns that I enjoyed.
Makes me reflect on ethics, morality, and how right vs wrong is not simple.

I liked better than Tattoist of Auschwitz and really did enjoy Cilka as a character. Genre isn’t my favorite and writing is more plot driven than eloquent or insightful. But entertaining read and informative in the sense of the story-telling brings to life the horrors of the Russian Gulags and is a testament to the strength of prisoners & survivors like Cilka.

Really enjoyed this reread and got so much more out of it than when I read in high school. I love Jane and I love how the plot points show her as a character. The language is beautiful and themes & symbols enjoyable to identify. Not a fan of what Rochester does to Bertha & there are obviously very dark moments in the novel. Jane’s journey of independence and defining her morals are inspiring and heartwarming.

Very entertaining and was one of the first true romance novels I’ve read. Wanted to read book before watching the Netflix series even though I’ve heard they differ quite a bit. And I’ve heard the show is better.
I liked how fast the pace of this was and I liked how Daphne started out bold & self-assured. I liked the part about Simon and him wrestling with his past.
Hate that there is a scene where consent is questionable even if we see the character’s intentions are understandable (though not justified imo).
Would recommend as a beach-read book.

This was okay and I don’t regret reading it but it was disjointed and not what I expected. It felt like a drawn out article series rather than a book, and jumped back and forth between topics that never felt like it came together. I enjoyed stories about the citizens of Grafton and learned about bears, but it was not pulled together in a way where I understood what the point of each chapter/story was.
The arrangement of the book felt off and it was confusing to follow a common theme or plot or argument from the author.
I listened to the audiobook and it might have been better reading the hard copy.
Definitely not a commentary on politics and slightly interesting commentary on bear populations/behavior/management.
