One of the better volumes in awhile.
Black Flash has returned to get rid of all these OTHER force users. He's tired of strength and all that mumble jumbo shit so he's on the hunt. Barry being Barry doesn't want to let anyone die, even assholes and villains. So he does his best to stop the Black Flash but it's nearly impossible. Guess who makes his grand appearance? HUNTER ZOLOMON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This volume is actually pretty solid. First half has art that is really good and some great fight scenes. Barry doesn't feel so sappy this volume either. I loved the Hunter Zolomon intro and his part of the overall story is solid. The rogue stuff is such a afterthought relating to the fucking shitty villain of the year or whatever storyline, who gives a shit. Also, the art flips to the other artist who's on flash and man oh man is his faces weird. iris hair looks like she got shocked every time.
Overall, this was a pretty solid volume. I actually enjoyed reading flash again. 3.5 out of 5.

This is part of the whole "year of the villain" storyline going on in DC and...it's not too bad.
Commander cold and Captain cold go head to head after the Flash goes missing and the other speed force users can't use their powers. But a unlikely ally comes to Barry's aid to help stop Captain Cold. Of course Cold is super fucking charged because Lex Luther after 60 years decides to boost all villains powers, making them a actual threat to heroes.
What I really enjoyed was the shocking death of a main character. Actually two, but the other wasn't as shocking or brutal. On top of that the art for this volume was a lot more consistent and some great fights. There's a brutal fight where Flash goes all out and holy shit is it nice. Saying that I hate the design of almost all the villains here except for Cold's sister. I also think it was more filler than anything because the end finally sets up the final storyline and it's far more compelling.
It's a 3.5 out of 5.

Like all the other collections for characters this features a bunch of stories by different writers/artist.
Let me just say I'm kind of really annoyed there was no Mark Waid writing Wally here. He basically defined the character and not even a single 20 page story? What the fuck DC? Really?
Anyway, let me talk about the good. Almost all of this is. My biggest surprise is Joshua's storyline here, or two. The first being the actual issue 750 which has to do with Paradox. And it's really good, gets you hyped, and the return of a old villain/hero is perfect. I also enjoyed Johns story of Captain Cold as well as Joshua Side B story which was fun and charming.
The Mark story was ok...but the art was atrocious IMO. I also didn't love Manupauls Flash story but never much did like his Flash or Barry from New 52.
Overall, it's a fun collection and got me hyped for the end of Williamson's run. A 3.5 out of 5 but I'll bump it to a 4.

I wanted to like this. Not because I'm a Alan Moore fan. I believe he's kind of a dicky dick face (YES! That's my words) But I enjoyed some of his previous work, especially Watchmen. This is the end of a era. A What If the original Superman had to have a send off. Well we make it darker. People need to die. Lex needs to have a plan. Braniac needs to try and conquer the world. And Superman must DIE! Before his death...later...yeah...
What I liked: Some of the cheesy one liners made me smile. I also enjoyed seeing how vastly different superman is now than what he was.
What I didn't like: How they tried to Dark Knight Superman. So we have people like Lana and Pete getting murdered. Then Krytoman (So dumb) kills our favorite puppy of all time. Everyone just dies and it's odd. The fights look horrible and the art isn't to my liking. Sorry old cartoony looking superhero comics are hard for me to enjoy tbh. Also the swamp thing story sucked. I never thought Moore did very good on Swamp thing tbh and liked him done by different (and better writers).
Overall this is interesting to read because of it being so old and a change in status quo but overall it was hardly worth my time in the end. It's short though so it's not terrible just meh. Big old MEH!

This run continues to be a blast. Liar liar is a sneaky one and a nice villain change for WW. She stands against everything WW is for. Daddy issues much? The art felt little weird this issue though. Least rhe hair.
Holy shit did I cry so much reading this.
Before we get into the book I'd like to say why this resonated with me so much. Both characters in this book share traits that I see in myself. I'm a nerd, and unlike now days, growing up isolation and picked on went hand in hand with being one. However, I balanced it out with having close friends while also not trying to be a complete hermit. In doing so I spent a lot of my free time either reading novels, comics, watching tv shows, anime, or playing games. So similar to our main character [No Name]-Kun it made me really connect with his view on life at first when I was his age. Basically, I don't find myself interesting, so why would anyone else? So why find anyone else interesting either.
On flipside we have Sakura who, and this isn't a spoiler, has pancreas disease and is dying. She's outgoing, and uses her humor to cover up her pain. She loves people close to her and would do ANYTHING for them. Even shield them from the pain she's going through. This is something I do, and can relate to as well. So watching how she dealt with this terrible disease I can put myself in her shoes 100%.
Now on to the story. See the reason I put [No Name]-Kun is because our hero doesn't give his name out. Well he does, but every time someone says it he pictures hearing what THEY think of him. So it makes for some funny scenes, and at the same time makes you feel awful for him. This is a clever story idea, similar to Silent Voice (another great manga) in which the character when looking at faces sees a huge X on them because he's too scared to actually look them in the face after being bullied for so long. So when No Name-kun finds the diary of Sakura and learns she has this disease she decides to befriend him completely. Seeing as he'll be the ONLY one she knows besides her direct family that knows about her dying.
This book doesn't cover up the fact, or say maybe it'll turn around, that our main heroine is going to pass away. But the amazing thing the book does is take you on a life, however short it is, to see how you can enjoy it. And it gives you a reason to question what life means to you, and the people around you. It hits every single emotional bit it is supposed to.
But what REALLY worked well, more than anything was the dialogue. A lot of manga has to be translated and sometimes the jokes aren't as well crafted here. But man oh man, was I smiling, smirking, laughing at multiple scenes here. On top of that the actual serious moments made me glued to the page and this is like 400+ pages I read in one sitting. Yeah. It is THAT good.
Listen, I can sit here and talk about this forever. I laid down last night at 8:15PM and finished around 9:45PM. And one point I had to put the book down because I was crying and tears were hitting the page. My wife was looking at me like I was crazy and I told her "This is on the level of Saga volume 7 ending" and she gasped. Yeah guys, this is the one.
This might be one of my favorite mangas ever. As good as Your Name and Silent Voice easily, and a MUST read. A 5 out of 5.

This was pretty stupid, and also disturbing.
So basically a old school white family who all hates each other and abuses both mentally and physically begin to snap. A mother who can't stand her abusive husband, her whorish daughter, or a weird son who hunts animals for fun. One day she gets attacked by the "Milkman" and snaps and begins killing.
Is it as stupid as it sounds? Very much so. The ending is both confusing and ridiculous. But so is the whole story. I hated almost every single person in this book, both main characters and side, and the dialogue, while not always awful, lands on the side of edgy and cringe.
I can't really recommend this at all. The art isn't very good either and looks like a Saturday morning cartoon at times turned hyper violent. A 1.5 out of 5.

Damn, Miles is by far having the better Spider-man run. Simple, fun adventures, and a lot of heart.
This volume is Miles dealing with SO much. Trying to find out what his villains are up to, dealing with his own green goblin, while also dealing with his Uncle who is doing shady business again, against his will. Miles also gets to deal with having a new baby sister. Ah big brother times are always just so much fun.
This is really fun and exciting. It helps the fights are super cool to look at and seeing Miles fight off against the green goblin is a treat. I also really enjoyed Miles internal dialogue or just his dialogue in general, it's all well done.
I think this series highlights what is good about Spider-man. Heart. And Ahmed gives miles plenty. A 4 out of 5.

For years people told me to go back and read Waid's run which focuses on Wally. It's what made him what he is today! So I finally said fuck it, and went back to the late 80's-90's. It took me awhile because I'll be honest, It is/was hard for me to go further back in time because things are a product of their age. And dialogue can feel "old" or "out of time" and on top of that older art can feel...old? Like it's not as smooth.
So anyway I finally opened up volume 1 and dove into the Flash by Mark Waid. This covers a couple of annuals and then we jump into Waid's run with a story of "what could be" wally's future and then his main storyline "born to run" as well as a couple of adventures after.
The annuals that open this book are...well to put it lightly, terrible. I almost couldn't get through them. I had to gloss over them at points because the writing and art were...bad. But then we got to Waid's story of a "What if" Wally married a certain somebody and how is life as Flash would go. While nothing "mindblowing" I did end up enjoying this one.
Born to Run is Wally's origins retold and it's pretty damn good. It has all the right beats, training, emotional payoffs, and fun adventures. It also let me enjoy a story with Barry who I find usually pretty bland. On top of that it helps show Wally's voice, and Waid does it SO naturally that I love the guy right away.
The other stories are fun saturday morning cartoon adventures. Watching Aquaman being mind control is silly but fun. And then we get a weird future/hunter story. Good, cheesy, but I had fun with it.
Overall, this isn't the greatest product ever. Born to Run is a very very solid 4 out of 5, but the rest around a 3, and those opening annuals or whatever are fucking dreadful 1's.
So I'll settle on a 3 out of 5 for this. Will get into the next one soon!

I'm a pretty big Rosenberg fan. I enjoyed almost everything he did and even if something didn't fully work for me (second half of his X-men run) I still enjoyed parts. Annihilation was a small event consisting of two major issues and a few one shots to fill in the banks.
When a new creature/race is out to destory the world and the cancerverse, annihilus decides he needs some help from Nova, Fantastic four, and more to stop this. Now annihilus is a piece of shit so for him to come for help you know it's serious.
The opening issue is fantastic, and a great set up. The Nova issue is one of my favorites ever for Nova, funny, witty, and heartfelt. The rest of the issues very, some good (Fantastic four) some confusing (Silver Surfer) and some okay (The rest) and the ending issue is fun and exciting but I believe the very ending felt to rehashed and lost it's flare.
Saying that I did enjoy this event and had fun with it. Worth reading for sure if fan of the cosmic marvel universe. A 3 out of 5.
