This was kind of a disappointment. I haven't finished Johns flash run with Wally but I guess I expected more from this after reading some of that.

So Barry is back but he's dealing with fitting back into life. That goes for both Iris and for his job. Sure, most people welcome him back, but it doesn't mean he knows how to fit in. Getting use to new faces, trying to still be the best investigator he could be, while opening old cases might piss people off at work. On top of that he's trying to get with Iris as much as possible but that's not always so easy. Last but not least a rogue shows up dead and now these rogues from the future, who seem to be good guys, are on the case. However, the killer might be Barry himself!

Good: I really dug Iris and Barry. I think Johns has a knack for giving us real human moments with these characters. I also enjoyed the art a lot, some amazing scenes displayed on action here, especially the fights or the rescues from helicopters/cars.

Bad: The stuff with the rogues seemed needlessly complicated. I also thought the ending was trying too hard to push the Flashpoint event coming soon after this.

Overall, a good fun volume but overall a little on the okayish side instead of great side I know Johns can do. A 3 out of 5.

X-Factor continues to truck along, staying as great as ever.

This volume as Rahne dealing with the aftermath of the last volume. After leaving her child behind after being scared she has yet to come to face with her choices. It doesn't help when she's pushed into the next big storyline, this one involving a mother who was killed violently and a child taken. Jamie gets the crew together to investigate and find out what happened but who's behind these murders? And who will be left alive after these events.

Good: The big reveal at the end was pretty shocking. I didn't expect that person to bite the dust, least for now. I also thought this volume really gave us a reason to care about characters I never even heard about, which is nice. Oh and the art is pretty solid with plenty of moody shots and hopeful ones to give all different vibes.

Bad: Some of the middle is a little padded and the storylines of certain characters seem...weird.

Overall, great stuff. The dialogue remains story and the story interesting. That's all I could ask for in a long running comic series. A 4 out of 5.

Unity is a odd thing. I feel like it wants to be something like Justice League or Avengers but doesn't really want to follow their footsteps so it tries to have our heroes at each other's throats and the results are...mixed.

So the main character here is XO without a doubt. Aric is the strongest of this group of "heroes" and that's saying something with both Ninjak and Toyo on the team. After Aric single handily disposes of the first Unity team up the newly formed one attacks him. However, with Livewire attacking him internally and everyone else with their weapons/fist, will they be able to stop him?

Good: The art is mostly pretty solid. Some great sweeping shots of action and deaths. I also think the idea of having all these people come together to stop another hero could have been played out but the idea itself worked for most part.

Bad: NO clear direction here. Nobody really sticks as a team after issue 3. Issue 4 feels like a gigantic rush to get rid of a certain member to make room for another. It's pacing goes from extremely slow and wordy to fast paced action without balance. The characters don't all click here.

Overall, it's okay. I can't say I was super impressed with this. I hope volume 2 improves on it. A 2.5 out of 5.

This took me a long time to read. I can't even remember the plot much.

Thing is, the art is solid and the writing is fine. I still like Aphra a lot.

However, she was more interesting in the Vader series. This is kind of just okayish. A 2.5 out of 5. I'll go with 3 for the art.

This is kind of like a reboot in a sense, but more of a new run, by Matt Kindt. Who is that? Well check out 50% of Valiant's stuff and you'll see his name on plenty.

So Aric is trying to live his life in isolation now. I only read the first few volumes of the last run but I guess he settled down, got a wife, kids, and was living happy. Now he traveled to a new planet and his messing around with a new chick with a tail. All is swell for our viking hero. That is until the army comes to his doorstep to ask for him to fight. Well, more demanding than asking, and now he must travel forward. He asks the suit once more to help him win and oh boy does he go to war.

Good: The art is really well balanced with some great sweeping shots of action mixed with solid emotional faces and movements. I also enjoyed Aric as this, Logan type warrior who wants to be left alone but will fight for his right to survive. I also think the ending is building to something unique that can change my view on Aric.

Bad: It's nothing really new. I know that's hard but it feels like I've seen this before. Guy who wants to live a quiet life forced into fighting again for a war he never cared for on top of using a special weapon to kill them all. Yeah...

Even as generic as it sounds it's still a solid read. Kindt has a good voice for the character and I'm excited enough to see where it goes. A 3 out of 5.

Leave it to Japan to have a story where we go to Mars to try and make it livable but first sent cockroaches to help teraform the planet only for them to become humanoid and have the strength to snap our necks with one move.

So yeah. That's basically the idea. We have a bunch of characters from different countries ranging from USA, Japan, China, and more. Together they are sent to Mars to try and make it a livable situation for more humans to come. However, when they get there they meet Humanoid looking roaches which attack and kill them. Think attack on titan meets bug wars. Since the humans can also inject themselves with something that gives them the power of bugs. Yeah...this shit is bonkers.

Good: The art is actually really solid. I enjoyed the fights, everything easy to follow, and for once they gave distinction to each race. That was a plus in my book. I also enjoyed the pacing as everything happens pretty quick. These creatures kill you so it's not like we're going to have the power of friendship stopping these bad boys. The ending also sets it up for more stories but maybe not with the same crew? A interesting choice.

Bad: The character's don't get flushed out enough. You get a glimpse of their past life when they die but it's done usually in a single page. So it feels more like a add-on then a actual reason to care for them. Also, the big bad are too over the top here. Yes, even in a series about roaches who can kill us.

Overall, a really fun if not really dumb story. I enjoyed it a lot reading it but also can understand why someone would hate it. Still, fun is fun. A 3.5 out of 5.

Story: This is a story about a girl...who can fly around the world, or I guess more float around, since the gravity on earth is gone. One day it all goes "Goodbye" thanks to our heroes father and now everyone can float in our world. Sounds kind of cool, huh? Except what happens when keep floating floating floating and then...into space.

Art: The art really gives a atmosphere of hope and wonder. The way the future has buildings and poles and such to jump off and on of and grab to so don't float into space is cool. I also love the designs, especially Willa, our main character. Diversity is always welcomed here and this title does flawlessly.

Enjoyment: I had a blast reading this. From the get-go the dialogue is bouncing and fun. This story easily masters the fun nature of being able to hop around everywhere, but the serious downsides to it. Some big moments, beatings, and death really strike emotional moments. I also dug the hell out of Willa, she is easily one of my favorite main characters in awhile.

What didn't work: The ending. Wasn't a huge fan of it. I thought it was kind of cliche. I am eager to find out more but I predicted the ending from a mile away.

Rating 4 out of 5. Super surprised how much I enjoyed this title. From the great art, to the solid story, and well done dialogue, this was a pure joy to read. I have even bigger expectations from volume 2 now.

Story: Spike and Buffy go out hunting some vampires. As they do Buffy goes in to kiss Spike, but after the kiss, Spike doesn't think it's a good idea. Maybe that since he's not looking for her now, she wants him, since she always wants what she can't have. Also have Xavier and Dawn trying to figure out their feelings but not going well. Giles is dealing with being in a kids body while being horny. All this is happening and then a demon also takes control of one of our heroes. This isn't going to be pretty!

Art: For the most part it is solid. Everyone has their own look and style which is a plus. I also think the fights work well and flow good enough. The covers are still amazing and almost umatched in style to look like the show.

Enjoyment: Very enjoyable in the sense it's character driven verses a big end of the world story. I also think the relationships are always key to the series and it's no different here. The Spike ordeal and ending actually worked in its favor and remained entertaining. I also enjoyed the stuff with Dawn and Xavier.

What Didn't Work: Some of the art feels odd, like the characters feel crooked at times. I also think the love relationships sometimes become to fluffy and over-dramatic.

Overall, a 3.5 out of 5. While this season isn't blowing my mind it's staying very fun and interesting. I'll bump it to a 4 for rating system.

Story: This picks up right after the events of the last volume. Without spoiling too much JV and the family are on the run again. This time though they go to a old friend...or lover...or someone that may be a bit of both. Once going to this new place things change drastically. Unlike the high paced last two volumes we slow down. Learn what life is, enjoy it, and maybe even create new life. Everything seems to be going well...but it's never that simple in the end.

Art: The style in itself is something super unique. Love the atmosphere, the southern feel, and the character designs themselves. I did notice some weaker action scenes in this volume, especially a particular scene in jail.

Enjoyment: I did find a lot to enjoy. The slower paced work for this volume's advantage. Getting to know the mindset of more family members, the fallout of previous events, and maybe even a bit of happiness. I enjoyed the hell out of the end, it was for sure shocking, but sets the story in a new direction that is must read.

What Didn't Work: Like I said previously, the art is lacking a bit here. I also think the slow down might upset people. This is a FAR slower volume than previous too and people might think "where is this going" instead of giving it a chance to tell its story.

Overall, another fantastic volume. A risky one in slowing things down but the payoff was amazing. A 5 out of 5.

Story: Atrocitus is at a midlife Rage crisis. He is one of the strongest lanterns out there thanks to his ring of rage but he feels like he's losing it. I mean he only talks to a dead body of the person who killed his entire family and people to get on track. That's normal, right? So when he finally frees the mind of one of his other red lanterns, let's them think for herself, he begins to worry someone...or everyone is betraying him. On top of that we go around the galaxy to see other people meet their breaking point to turn to rage.

Art: Blood. Everywhere. Seriously, anytime a red lantern fights you can bet blood splatter goes on every single panel. You got big sweeping battle scenes with tons of great fights. Green Lantern series also gives huge ass shots of women, so that hasn't changed. Colorful, brutal, and lots of death. This books art hits all those notes.

Enjoyment: I actually dug Atrocitus. Sure, he kind of comes off a bit mopy, emo, yet he has the rage within that makes him kind of fun. I also liked learning more about the rage lanterns and why they are who they are. The stories of losing it all to break was pretty cool. Oh yeah and I enjoyed the ending and could lead up to something interesting.

What didn't work: Not huge fan of the "enemy" here. Came out of nowhere. I also thought the sweeping ass shots were kind of annoying. 90's much?

Overall, it's fun story. Probably better than I could ever expect from a Red Lantern title. A 3 out of 5.
