This book is a crossover book between the Vampire Chronicles and the Mayfair Witches. I'm not a big fan of the Mayfair series, so I was a little concerned about this book. Lestat is being haunted by the spirit of someone he wronged, and seeks help from Merrick Mayfair to stop the haunting. Merrick did some work with David in the Talamasca, and this enabled her to get the diary of the spirit that is haunting Lestat. Lestat is able to contact the spirit, which causes both Louis and Lestat to despair. Merrick wishes to be turned into a vampire as well, which is a whole other issue in this book. For a crossover book, this was quite enjoyable. I am seven books into this series at this point, and I have nothing negative to say about it, really.

This book was on a list of books about disasters. It is currently free to listen to with Audible memberships, so I downloaded it. The tornado in question is the EF5 tornado that decimated the town of Moore, Oklahoma on May 20, 2013. I remember seeing this on the news, but I didn't pay as much attention to it at the time because I was dealing with a newborn. Every area is prone to some type of disaster, but I cannot imagine living right in the middle of tornado alley. This particular tornado was certainly a violent one, resulting in massive amounts of damage. School was in session during this storm, and some children were unfortunately killed when the school was hit by the tornado. This was an ordeal for everyone in the town. I looked up photos of the damage while I was listening to this, and it was staggering to see. I even found a before and after satellite image and the emptiness in the after was shocking to see. This wasn't my favorite disaster book, and some of the writing seemed generic and rushed in places, but it was interesting overall.

This book was added to my Must Buy list, because it was on a list of books about cults. I wouldn't really classify this as a cult book. It is much more of a memoir. The perspective of living in a Mennonite family was very interesting. Her father was a Mennonite pastor. I very much enjoyed the humor that the author used when writing about her experiences that led her back home to her family. I was disappointed that this wasn't more cult related at first, but the disappointment went away because the book was truly funny.

This book is on the suggested reading list for The Last Podcast On The Left (Episode 348-350, Josef Mengele). This book is well written, and certainly an in depth look inside the mind of Josef Mengele, the so called Angel of Death. Mengele I listened to this on Audible, which was great. I was able to pause whenever I felt like it was becoming tedious and move on with something else. I can see why there were reviews that said it was long winded and boring. I did not find it boring at all, though. This explained Mengele's education, childhood, and the family business. I have read plenty of things about him before, but I wound up learning things I had not previously heard. It was very interesting.

This wasn't a very hefty book, but it was an interesting, albeit broad overview of the men who wanted to marry Queen Elizabeth I. They certainly were not wanting to marry for love, but certainly for the position it would have afforded them. I would like to look into more thorough biographies than what was provided here. This was a good introduction and jumping off point for more research.

In this fifth installment of the Vampire Chronicles, we find Lestat being stalked by some mysterious force, which turns out to be, as the title suggests, the Devil himself. He goes by the name Memnoch, but he is the Devil. Memnoch takes Lestat on a tour of Hell and Heaven, and tries to get him to go in cahoots with him against God. We also see a few familiar characters again, such as David and Armand. Quite a few interesting things happen in this book, and overall it was very good. Lestat always gets himself into the oddest situations, and I can see why everyone stays frustrated with him. He needs to grow up a little for someone who is hundreds of years old. I like this saga, and this was a pretty good book.

I have some issues with this book, which caused me to give it a three star rating. Melania and Me was supposed to be about the relationship between Melania Trump and the author. In the majority of the book, it was all about the author and her life. I didn't really learn very much about the personality or thought process of Melania Trump, which disappointed me. It was also boring in some parts, causing me to have to force myself to continue. The text message inserts annoyed me as well. Otherwise, the behind the scenes look at the campaign trail and the inauguration were very interesting. I really enjoyed reading about that. Some of the things the author was witness to were simply ridiculous to read, as though she was in the room full of toddlers throwing fits. Politics in general are very catty, and it is unreal the lengths they go to in order to get ahead.

I highly, highly recommend this book. I can't remember if it was suggested to me, or if I randomly found it somehow. I am glad that I ordered it and was able to read it, because I never knew what kind of medical experiments were done on African Americans. I knew that things of this nature were done to slaves, but this kind of stuff continued on well after then. I had absolutely no idea. I am ashamed of how little I know. This topic was never addressed in any of my years in school, and I think it is a topic that should be covered. People are so awful to other people. It's disgusting.

Being a medic must be a tremendously difficult job, especially in the middle of heavy fighting, seeing people they know and love and have spent some difficult days with be killed and injured. I thought this book was very moving. It had some humor in it, like most books where guys recount their war experiences with buddies. It also had some really heavy parts. I really enjoyed this.
