In this fifth installment of the Vampire Chronicles, we find Lestat being stalked by some mysterious force, which turns out to be, as the title suggests, the Devil himself. He goes by the name Memnoch, but he is the Devil. Memnoch takes Lestat on a tour of Hell and Heaven, and tries to get him to go in cahoots with him against God. We also see a few familiar characters again, such as David and Armand. Quite a few interesting things happen in this book, and overall it was very good. Lestat always gets himself into the oddest situations, and I can see why everyone stays frustrated with him. He needs to grow up a little for someone who is hundreds of years old. I like this saga, and this was a pretty good book.
