Such a Fun Age is about a 25 year old black women named Emira who babysits for a white women named Alix Chamberlain; this story takes place in Philadelphia.

One night, Alix calls Emira to come and get Briar (Alix two year old daughter), an incident had happened and Alix wanted Briar out of the house for a bit. Emira is out partying with her friends when Alix calls so she is a little worried about the way she is dressed but decides to go help out anyways. Emira comes and gets Briar and takes her to a local grocery store to walk around. A security officer at the store stops Emira and accuses her of kidnapping Briar and starts questioning and harassing her. Emira leaves the incident unscathed by calling Mr. Chamberlain. A man named Kelley gets the whole incident on tape but doesn't share it because Emira doesn't want it to get out.

Alix wants to have a relationship with Emira after this incident happens but her intentions seemed to be quite obsessive. She would always think about Emira, kinda like she was trying too hard to want to impress her. Wanting to know everything about her life. Alix was crazy from the start and I was quite annoyed with her way of thinking and how she kepted referring to Emira as 'hers'.

This book is about racism and white privilege. These are every day things that women of color deal with in this country; sad I know but REAL.

I really enjoyed this book, it was a bit slow after the first chapter but then it got real interesting in the middle and the ending was great. The book flips between Emira and Alix's perspective. Even though I had major issues with the characters, I loved the storyline and the author's writing style.

Is it just me or is Braden Mack a total dreamboat? Even in the last book, his charisma swooned me but in this book, I was completely won over! I really enjoyed this romance novel, I finished it in ONE, yes ONE day because it was just so darn cute, I couldn't get enough!

Liv gets fired from her job as a pastry chef at one of the top restaurants in Nashville. She finds her boss, Royce who is a successful TV restauranteur and probably the worst kind of human known to man, sexually harassing women. She wants to bring this issue to light but he threatens and tries to make her life a living hell. On the same night Liv gets fired, she was delivering a dessert to the table where Braden Mack was sitting with his date. Braden was not expecting to see Thea's sister so distractions and accidents happen which is why Liv finds herself in Royce's office, waiting to have a talk with him when she witnesses something that will change her. Liv is on a mission to bring down Royce; Braden feels guilty that Liv lost her job, so they team up to bring down Royce.

Undercover Bromance is a perfect book to just sit back, read and relax over a weekend. I enjoyed the sarcasm, snarky humor. I found myself laughing out loud from the things Liv would say. Which is weird because I honestly could not stand Liv as a character, she was immature, made rash and impractical decisions, and acted like she didn't care about anyone but herself, but I loved her sarcastic and snarky comments, those were the best parts. I love it when a book can really make you hate a character at first but then by the end, you love that character because of the development - that is why I am giving this book 4 stars because I love it when the author adds character development within the story. Allowing the character to learn and grow from mistakes and experiences. And of course, Braden is his ol' perfect self, always trying to do what it takes to impress a woman! I loved learning about Braden's past experiences and how they have shaped him.

I would have loved to see a bit more romance in this book like the last book but overall I really enjoyed it! Highly recommend, I cannot wait for the next book!

This. Book. Is. Purely. Amazing. ❤️

Kya is abandoned by her family, she is the youngest of four children, her father is an abusive alcoholic and her mother leaves one day when she is 5 or 6. Her dad sticks around for a few years after her mother leaves but then one day, he leaves her too. She is still a young girl when she is left to live all by herself in a shack in the North Carolina marsh.

Kya is at one with the marsh, with nature. Yes - she is alone but nature takes care of her, the marsh, the birds, the creatures that live in the marsh; are her family and friends. I loved how the author really appreciates nature and paints a picture of what the North Carolina’s marsh looks and feels like; the atmosphere that the author builds is wonderful.

Everyone in town calls her the “marsh girl” and make fun of her, she’s an outcast. There is a boy who also lives near the Marsh named Tate and him and Kya form a special bond, he cares for her greatly. Tate teaches Kya how to read, brings her books, spends time with her and is really her only friend besides the boat gas station attendant, Jumpin’ (another character you will love).

The book starts off with a murder of the most popular guy in town, Chase. The book goes back and forth between the investigation and trial of the murder of Chase and Kya’s life leading up to that point and how she got involved in the investigation. It’s fairly interesting and kept me on my toes; this was a page turner! The unraveling of the story was so intriguing, kept me wondering what happened to Chase.

The author writes a beautiful story, I loved every page, every word; the immense details of the marsh and nature - just amazing. For This Tender Land lovers; I highly recommend you read this book if you haven’t already. Where the Crawdads Sing deserves all the stars, this will go down as one of my favorite books I’ve ever read ❤️

Monique works for Viviant, a magazine company and she has just been requested by Evelyn Hugo to do a cover story. Evelyn Hugo, Hollywood’s most famous and beautiful, daring actress during the 50s-80s. Monique wonders why Evelyn Hugo has asked for her specifically so when she arrives to Evelyns place and finds out that the daring actress actually wants her to write a biography about her, Monique is confused and excited at the same time.

Evelyn Hugo wants the world to know who she is, why she had seven husbands throughout her Hollywood career and the stories behind each marriage. Evelyn wants the world to know who she truly is behind the scenes and she only wants Monique to write the story. Monique wonders and questions why Evelyn only want her to write this story?

My favorite thing about this book is the authors writing style, TJR does a wonderful job storytelling and creating this bold character, Evelyn Hugo. The dialogue between the characters was marvelous, she paints a wonderful picture of how each character looks and acts, I loved that.

I am torn about the main character though, I love/hate Evelyn Hugo. I loved how bold and strong this character is, how straightforward she is about herself; confident in her abilities. Evelyn Hugo knew she had talent and she knew how to use her talent and her body to get what she wanted. She was made to be an actress but how she treated some people throughout the book was

I am a sucker for a good romance and this was the kind of romance that made my heart melt. January is going through a breakup and her father died unexpectedly. Her father leaves her a beach home in Michigan, so January moves her life to live there to write her next book. She is feeling pressure from the publishing company to write another bestseller. Her main focus is this book but when she meets an old friend, Gus, that lives right next door to her, everything changes. Gus is also a writer, he and January make a deal with one another to write a book outside their comfort zone.

The relationship that kindles between Gus and January is so adorable and loving. It does take them a while to get used to each other, but the chemistry between the two is FIRE from the start. I loved how the author builds both of these characters, they both have deep personal problems they are dealing with. I loved the writing style of this book - it was a quick and light read. I flew through this book in just a couple of days. It's one of those books that I woke up in the morning and my first thought was, "I need to pick up this book and read it". If you are a hopeless romantic and enjoy reading romances, then this book is for you. Highly recommend!

Lizzie gets a collect call one day from someone she hasn’t heard from in years - Zach, an old friend from college. He’s in jail, he had found his wife murdered at his home, he’s being held on assault charges, and he needs a lawyer. Lizzie is hesitant to take this case on at first, she hasn’t talked to Zach in years. Once she is assigned the case, the story starts to unravel, and she starts to find out what happened the night that Amanda was murdered, she also learns about the kind of person Zach really is.

I honestly did not love this book, I really struggled the first 150-200 pages. There were so many characters, all the lawyer-legal stuff really bored me, I found myself skimming a lot of the first half. But then came the BANG

As I started to read this book, I was struggling to get through because this book is so real for every black family in America. So many black men are going through this exact same thing, families, relationships, being torn apart because of America's horrible justice system. This book was sort of frustrating to me, I can't seem to understand Celestial and some of the decisions she made. She just gave up on her husband while he was in prison for a crime he didn't even commit. I knew from the beginning that she loved Dre and Dre loved her - even in the back story, they were always destined to be together. I knew from the start she was going to make that decision because Dre was ALWAYS there by her side. But I just hate the choices she made confronting Roy about the whole situation.

Get ready yall! Talia Hibbert

Ah this book is so good. Second time reading it and it’s still good, especially the ending. Yeah I changed my rating from a 5star to a 4star but this book is still amazing. Lale is taken to Auschwitz where he becomes the Tattooist. The atrocities and horror Lale faced takes a toll on him but when he meets Gita, the love of his life, he begins to see a bright side to life in all the horror. This book is about love, history, war, overcoming and beating death. The love story between these two is beautiful. Highly recommend you read this! ❤️
