This was infinitely better than her debut novel, Every Summer After, and I really loved this second book by Carley Fortune. My biggest critique with her previous novel was that it read like a YA book, and Meet Me At The Lake was so much more mature and well written and the characters felt like actual adults this time. This isn't Charlie's book; it's a brand new story with two new characters, but at least there isn't cheating in this book so that's great too. I loved Will and Fern's story, and felt like they had such a connection that was just missed because of life circumstances but you root for them at each and every turn because it's so clear they are meant for each other. This was full of angst and heartbreak and a story about finding yourself and discovering that maybe what you thought you wanted wasn't what you wanted at all. Carley's writing reminds me of Emily Henry and I think if you're a fan of her books, you'll love this one.
What a cute and fun sequel to the first When In Rome book! I really enjoyed this second installment. I loved returning to Rome, drawn to the sweet small town romance and seeing my favorite characters again. I fell for the bad boy, good girl trope with amazing chemistry between Annie, the girl next door, and Will Griffin, the ex-military, tattooed, emotionally uninvolved, dangerous bodyguard. Even though they seem like opposites, they find themselves in a pretend relationship to coach Annie to find her future husband, and they are amazingly adorable! The best thing about their love story is that they did everything not to hurt each other. There was no unnecessary angst or misunderstanding that made the characters miserable. Besides their physical attraction, their open communication and blooming friendship made me giddy! Especially seeing the presumed bad boy Will turning into a knight in shining armor, a caring, sweet lover boy, warmed my heart! After reading this book, you'll wish Rome, Kentucky, was a real place you could visit and spend time with the small town characters and all of their wonderful adventures.
The plot revolves around Annie, the girl next door who is sick of being treated as the family's baby, a pure, untainted virgin who can do no wrong. After being defined as dull and boring by the man who last dated her, she realizes she needs more practice to return to the dating arena. Amelia finds a solution for her to work with her bodyguard (correction: executive protection agent) Will as a dating coach (even though she has a secret agenda and wants them to fall for each other).
Will doesn't believe in love after suffering from the years long dysfunctional relationship of his own parents. Annie is a true believer in commitment, who wants to survive a date without making her significant other bored to death. But she realizes she is more than a boring, inexperienced wallflower. Will helps her explore her restrained true identity and her adventurous side. But what if Annie doesn't want to date any man instead of her brooding coach, who is a cinnamon bun hiding behind a rough facade? And what if Will breaks his strict rules and opens his heart to true love?
Overall, this was a wonderful second book in one of my favorite series and one of my most highly anticipated reads, one that did not disappoint! I gave it four stars because it is a closed door romance, which probably wouldn't bother most people but I'd love... more? Anyways, if you loved When In Rome, you will LOVE this! I have a feeling James and Maddie's book is next and I cannot wait!

Ana Huang has done it again! This is my favorite in the Kings of Sin series, and probably my second favorite book she's written to date. Kai and Isabella are an opposites attract couple, but the chemistry is so palpable. I loved that it went beyond just physical looks for them, as they had a deeper connection and bonded over more than just attraction. This was perhaps Ana's most healthy couple, with good communication and no real violent tendencies or acts of treason (if you've read her Twisted series, you know what I mean). I didn't care for the third act breakup and I also didn't like that Isabella felt she needed to answer to her brother (you're an adult, you can literally do whatever you want) but I do think she grew and realized this as the book went on, and she proved she was fully capable of finding her happiness and being independent and not caring what her family thinks. As usual, the smut was amazing in this and I tell you, it's always the shy, introverted ones, isn't it? ;)
In true Chloe Liese fashion, this was nothing short of amazing. The Bergman Brothers series is my favorite of all time, and the sixth installment was perfection. This book features brother's best friend, friends to lovers, friends with benefits, fake friends, bisexual/pansexual representation, slow burn, sports romance, autism representation, and Celiac disease representation. I have been looking forward to the youngest Bergman sibling's story, and I loved that we got to see Ziggy's journey. Her relationship with Sebastian was such a beautiful adventure. As always, Chloe Liese includes a playlist by putting a song at the beginning of each chapter and I loved her choices. She never recommends a bad song in my book! This book has such a special place in my heart, because I felt myself identifying with both characters, and resonated with the struggles and obstacles and ultimate triumphs they both faced. If there is one thing I can influence you to read, it's this masterpiece of a series by Chloe Liese!
Once again, I'm going to reiterate the fact that I find it hard to believe this author wrote the masterpiece that is Juniper Hill. This was... not great. Mediocre. Dry. Boring. I had such high hopes, but here we are. I felt like this was eerily similar to Garnet Flats, with the other woman drama, the second chance romance that falls flat and isn't done well, the child aspect, etc. I also didn't like that Millie told Ford multiple times to stop kissing her and yet he kept coming back and doing it. Now, I get they have a history but what happened to no means no? Does consent mean anything anymore? And then she folds and is a doormat and excuses away every single one of his behaviors. They were also supposed to have such chemistry, but I didn't get that from them at all. I usually like the children in single parent books, but Joey was just not it. I think the moral of the story here is to just not trust Devney Perry with second chance romances because she can never make them fully work. Everyone was bland, and this was about the most basic thing I've read. This book would have been SO MUCH BETTER if it had been a coach and nanny situation. I will die on that hill.
I didn't think the first book could be topped, but this might have done it. I was so excited for Ryan and Indy's story and this was everything I could want and more. I loved this book so much. Ryan Shay is the ultimate book boyfriend. Overall, I'd say that this book was very much a lesson in what to expect from a man, as Ryan Shay is really the blueprint. Every single little action of his was so telling. He was a gem of a man and I will be thinking about him for a long time. Indy was equally amazing, so bright and colorful and an amazing personality. I felt for her and her fertility journey, and just wanted to hug her and make everything okay. The plot never got to be overly dramatic nor was it stupidly cheesy. I felt like I was reading about two very great people as individuals who together were absolute goals and total soulmates. Their journey was so beautiful, especially because they went from sort of not liking each other (especially Ryan and his reluctance to have Indy stay with him) to realizing just how much they needed and loved each other. I related so much with Indy about her people pleasing habits and the crap her ex put her through, and I was so happy for her eventual growth. I loved how Indy's heartbreak was portrayed as well. Too often I see the scenario of the heroine being cheated on by a long term boyfriend and it's just messy and not done well, and borderline annoying. It wasn't rushed here or glossed over, and handled very well. I liked her progression of getting over her ex, and the journey she embarks on to regain her self love and self worth - with help from Ryan, of course. I liked that she still suffered from the betrayal but day by day she blossomed more and more and eventually got to have so many realizations about herself, her friends, her ex relationship and she saw her heartbreak as blessing in disguise. It was a long book, but it was never tedious to read and was honestly worth every page and every word. This is one of the few times when the hero's reluctance and insecurities regarding relationships actually made sense. After reading his story and understanding what he went through only a few years prior and how the aftermath of a specific event crushed him enough to damage his mental health and contributed to his lack of trust in women, I felt so bad for him. It was beautiful to see the journey he went on and how he learned to trust again, and to love again.
This book is AMAZING. I've been hearing so much about it, and I think I was intimidated by how long it is (it is 600 pages) but it is so worth it. Stevie is such an amazing main female character for so many reasons. She is a plus size character and I love that about her because so am I, and I resonate so much with the things she said and thought, and her journey to self confidence and loving herself and accepting love from others. Zanders isn't what meets the eye and I loved that the personality he shared with the media wasn't the real him, and how loving and sweet he really was. The two of them together was so perfect; their banter and chemistry and spice was just everything. I loved the diverse characters we get in this book, the side characters who are like family. The mental health and therapy discussions were such a breath of fresh air. Zanders, a male athlete, discussed therapy so freely positively and I LOVED that. Despite being long, the story was just so good and it actually flew by. I'm seriously so in love with this series, and I cannot wait for Ryan and Indy's book.
I absolutely loved this book. I have followed Dr. Brighten for years and she has always been a wealth of knowledge. This book is no exception! I really loved her previous book, Beyond The Pill, and this feels just as good, if not better. This book contains everything you need to know about your body; your burning questions about s*x, hormones, periods, and more. I thought I knew a lot as a progressive female who has made it her mission to really know herself, but Dr. Brighten taught me so many things in this book! There are many things we think we know or have been told over the years by society and men and our ancestors that came before us, but this book really sheds light on what's true and what's not and helped me to feel comfortable in my own body, knowing I'm armed with the proper information. I think everyone should read this book!

I absolutely loved Go Hex Yourself, which is the first book in the Hex series by Jessica Clare, so I was really looking forward to the second installment. It was just as good, if not better, than the first book! I loved returning to the fun and adventure packed world of magic and spells and familiars, and romance! This book features a grumpy/sunshine couple, fake dating, enemies to lovers, forced proximity and a good amount of spice, whew! I loved Penny and Willem together and how Penny brought Willem out of his shell and showed him that he could have a real life and love, and how Willem was so soft and kind with Penny, showing her how magic could be. I also loved getting to see Ben and Reggie again from Go Hex Yourself. I loved the fun and adventure and mystery and suspense in this one, and I seriously couldn't stop reading this because I was just so intrigued and couldn't wait to see what happened next. I highly recommend checking this series out; you won't be disappointed!
This is a masterpiece and that's all I really need to say.
