Meet Me at the Lake by Carley Fortune
4.0

This was infinitely better than her debut novel, Every Summer After, and I really loved this second book by Carley Fortune. My biggest critique with her previous novel was that it read like a YA book, and Meet Me At The Lake was so much more mature and well written and the characters felt like actual adults this time. This isn't Charlie's book; it's a brand new story with two new characters, but at least there isn't cheating in this book so that's great too. I loved Will and Fern's story, and felt like they had such a connection that was just missed because of life circumstances but you root for them at each and every turn because it's so clear they are meant for each other. This was full of angst and heartbreak and a story about finding yourself and discovering that maybe what you thought you wanted wasn't what you wanted at all. Carley's writing reminds me of Emily Henry and I think if you're a fan of her books, you'll love this one.
