Such a fun read! I had heard some mixed things about The Juliet Spell before I had read it, so I was a little reluctant. But I ended up really enjoying the book. I thought it was a cute, fast read.
Miranda was very likable and it was really easy to be on her side throughout the story. I was expecting a cute contemporary book, so I was a thrown for a loop when all of a sudden Shakespeare's brother shows up. I was a bit disappointed because I thought that it wasn't realistic. Then, I thought to myself "Michelle, you read tons and tons of paranormal, supernatural and sci-fi books. How is this any less realistic?" So I got over that momentary pout and went back to reading, and once I did that I found that I really enjoyed the story. It was a little hard to believe in parts; like with how accepting Miranda's mom was with this bizarre act, but overall the story flowed really well.
I didn't really like Edmund. I liked Drew so much more! He was my favorite character in the whole book. He is smart, and loyal and I want him and Miranda together! She just needs to get over Edmund and move on to better things- namely, Drew.
It was really cute, and it just made me smile. And every once in a while you just need a cute book. The Juliet Spell is that book.

I really, Really enjoyed this book! At first I did not know what it was about, ( I had not heard of this series before) So I was just following along enjoying where the story was going and then I learned it was about vampires.
This story was so interesting from start to finish. It was unique and fast paced and well written. I really liked this take on vampires and the evernight academy. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series, bc I am dying to know more of its secrets!
The one thing that bugged me though was that vampires were never mentioned until you learned pretty far into the book that it was a school for vampires, and then all of a sudden the main character knew all about vampires and had known her whole life. But there were no clues about her knowing her parents were vampires or even about them being different or acting strange. I didnt like that there were no clues and it kind of just flew out of no where.
But other than that I really liked this book! Definitely check this series out, I cant wait for the 2nd book.

This book took a while for me to get into, but I ended up enjoying it. It was really hard to understand at first and I almost gave up on it, but I really liked the underlying storyline so I kept on reading. I'm really glad that I did because I want to know what is going to happen in book two. There are a lot of characters and a lot is going on right off the bat so it takes a while to figure out what is going on.
But once you get to the meat of the story it really gets good. I liked the idea behind the story and I find the concept of an oracle fascinating. I grew attached to the characters and I wanted to see what was going to happen with them. I will certainly be reading book 2. I just hope that because the stage has been set, that the series won't be so confusing anymore.
Damian is really interesting. I don't think we know nearly half of what it is that makes up the man that is Damian. I can't wait to find out what other secrets he has in store for us. Also Darian and Jule and Dustin. The whole gang has so much history, and I can't wait to learn all about it. One thing that annoyed me was that all the characters were meant to be hundreds of thousands of years old. That is seriously old! And they are all talking like they are 15. They use slang and so much modern language that it didn't really seem to mesh with their ancient beings. I would have like to see a little more sophistication with their language.
Sofia is really intriguing. She is so inherently good, that I wanted so many great things to come her way. And even though she faced more than a few struggles, she never gave up. I can't wait to see what is next for her and her powers and her blood bond with Damian. Speaking of the blood bond, I would not mind learning some more about it in the next book. We got a glimpse of it's history but I want to know more about why their bond is so different than the other's who have been bonded. Why can't she eat? I can't wait to see.
Overall, this book got off to a shaky start for me but about 40% into the book it really picked up. The story got into full swing and I started becoming more and more interested in the book. I ended up really enjoying it and I can't wait to see where the next book is going to take us. I have a feeling the Grey God is going to be really interesting!!

light spoilers:
I have been reading so many quick, short reads that I was excited to pick up a book that was a little longer. The Light of Asteria was a delightful read. It truly was good v. evil and it was so easy to distinguish the two. Everything was based on your intent, if your intent was pure you were good. But if you allowed negative intent and emotions to rule your being, you would turn evil. I wonder if one of the evil beings started to have good intentions, if they would turn good again? Maybe that issue will be explored in the next book.
Half of the story takes place on earth and the other half takes place in another land. I loved the way Elizbath Isaacs described everything- it was so easy to read and so relatable. The story just flowed along at a nice steady pace. It wasn't super fast moving, but it also wasn't too slow anywhere.
Nora was one of those characters that just seemed so good at everything, but amazingly it did not bug me one bit! She is nice, pretty, strong, has super cool abilities- but she does make mistakes and she is just so genuine in everything that she does that I was gravitated towards her. I really liked her, and because she is just so purely good, you want her to succeed and to get the guy.
Gavin was an interesting character too. At first, I was dying to know his secret. He can read thoughts, like the rest of is people, and for someone who is dying to know everything about Nora he certainly kept more than a few things from her. Once I found out what was going on, I liked Gavin even more. He is supposed to be really pure in intent too but he has a little possessive streak when it comes to Nora, and I have to say I really like it! I know he shouldn't because it can lead to jealousy and that can corrupt, but as long as Nora keeps him in check, I think it is really cute on Gavin.
Gavin's group of friends is just as lovable. Especially Reena. She is just so darn cute! I can't wait to see what is going to develop with her. She is such a good friend to Nora. I liked that The Light of Asteria had such admirable character in it. The hero's were actually worthy of being called a hero. It was refreshing. I also loved that in their world they were bound to their words when they spoke out loud. Since they can read minds, they normally just communicate silently. So when they speak out loud, it is a big deal. I thought that was a really unique idea.
Overall, The Light of Asteria is a great book! There is something for everyone; epic fight scenes, a really sweet romance, mystery, superpowers, a new land. I fell in love with it all! I can't wait to see what is going to happen next. I didn't want this book to end where it did, I wanted it to continue on for just a little longer. Read it and you will see why.

I was excited about Destiny's Fire right off the bat and it did not disappoint at all. In fact, it exceeded expectations in every way! The more I read, the more excited about the story I got. Trisha Wolfe, created an awesome storyline, cool kick butt characters, and gadgets worthy of the steampunk title. So many of the 2012 debuts have such a huge hype surrounding them, and Destiny's Fire deserves all of it.
The story focuses around Dez and her three triplet friends. They are all members of the Shythe race. I love Dez! She is so special- nice, really good without being annoying, and pretty. I felt so bad that she was nervous to tell her friends her secret. Especially Jace. I love Jace so much! I am on team Jace all the way. He is just so sweet to Dez and you can tell that he has loved her forever. It is just so cute to see him get nervous and be protective around her. But of course Dez is a teenager, so when a hot new guy shows up in town she can't resist him. Reese is ok, but it will always be Jace for me. I'm not 100% sure that this triangle is totally resolved so I can't wait to see where it goes in the next book. But I really liked that this YA did not shy away from the romance. It was one of my favorite parts of the story, which is really saying something because there are such cool powers and a blooming conflict between two races going on too!
I loved the way the two races were described. It is going to be so cool to see what else is to come for them and how Dez will react to everything. I am fascinated by her, and I can't wait to see what is next for her and her friends. (and her love life of course!) Destiny's Fire grabbed my attention and my heart and it did not let go until long after I was done reading. This is going to be a hard book to top! I loved it so much, you need to read this book! If this book is any indication, 2012 is going to be an epic year!!

I liked this book. I think that Jaycie is an awesome main character and her powers are so cool! She is super nice and is described as beyond beautiful, but don't start thinking her life is too perfect. Basically everyone at school dislikes her and she has to keep her powers a secret from her best friend, Matt. I liked that she was not too perfect- she still has struggles to go through and her powers are not just easy breezy fun. I was interested to see how her powers would progress and to see what would happen. I was also really interested in Jaycie and Matt. He is just so sweet and cute, how could you not like Matt? I just wanted Jaycie to tell Matt about her powers right away.
Other than Jaycie's powers developing and Matt, the story did not hold my attention for the entire book. I was really into the book for the first 1/3 of it. I blew through that part, but then it started to drag a bit for me. I thought that it was slow in places. The storyline really interested me and I kept reading because I really wanted to find out what was going to happen, but I wasn't as absorbed in the book as I wanted to be. I caught myself skimming the page more than a few times.
I did really like the descriptions of the characters in the books. Everyone was really well described, even the minor ones. I enjoyed that because it helped me picture them, and normally with minor characters I just read their scene and then put them out of my mind. I thought this extra attention to detail was a nice touch.
Another thing I noticed was that Jaycie got pretty violent towards the end of the book. She seemed so nice and kind, and then all of a sudden she was so focused on retribution and revenge. It seemed kind of out of place for her. I liked the resolution to the conflict but it was very much an eye for an eye philosophy, so beware about that.
Overall, Darwin's Children was a good book. I enjoyed the plot and I'm going to read the next one because I want to know what is going to happen, but I didn't fall in love with the book. I just kind of liked it, no strong feelings. Maybe now that the groundwork is laid, book 2 will pick up a little. I look forward to finding out.

Bound was an excellent, fast read! I gobbled it up all in one sitting. In fact, I stayed up until 2 am reading it, and then when I was done I just sat there in disbelief over where Kira chose to end it. So not fair! I need to know what happens! Bring on book 2 ASAP.
I loved the story in Bound, and I loved how briskly everything flowed along. Arelia is a pretty cool character. She did bug me a little because she reacted irrationally and immaturely to comments a lot in the first half of the book. She lashes out a lot- she has a lot of anger. But, I can understand why she is distrustful. Heck, half the time I didn't know who to trust, but I thought she could have handled it a little better in parts. But other than that, I really liked her. She is caring and observant. She genuinely wants to help people. Plus, how cool is her name??
And then we have Sabrina, her so called best friend. I flat out did not like Sabrina. She was selfish, spoiled, and really rude. But I don't think we were meant to really like Sabrina, so I took her for what she was. A total brat. She did have a redeeming moment at the end with Arelia, but it was not enough to rehabilitate her as a character in my opinion.
What I really wanted to talk about was the setting for the book. I love that it is down in New Orleans. I think that is the perfect creepy setting for some awesome voodoo magic. I can't wait to see what is going to happen next at Darkwood. I have a feeling Arelia's dream is going to play a big part, and Im both scared and fascinated to find out how it will fit in!
The two main guys in this story are Lucas and Ivan. Now, it is not a love triangle. They are just the two guys in the story. They both have secrets, and I went back and forth with who to trust. At some points in the story I didn't even trust either of them! It doesn't help how cryptic and unhelpful Ivan is towards Arelia, but because he is so mysterious I am even more intrigued to see what part he will have to play in the second book. And Lucas- I want to like him. Really I do, he seems to be so genuine and nice and a true southern gentleman. But like Arelia, I'm a bit skeptical of him. He almost seems too good to be true. I think I will reserve judgment until I read some more about him.
Overall, Bound was a really exciting and great read! This series has the potential to be amazing. I can't wait to see what is going to happen next. Especially after that killer cliffhanger. I was reading on my kindle, so I didn't even know that the book was going to end. I never would have guess that it would end so abruptly at the point that it did. Oh, Ms. Saito you are a minx. Great book, I really enjoyed it. I think you should check out Bound!

This book is so Magical! I seriously could not stop smiling and laughing while I was reading it. I didn't want it to end at all. I loved that the chapter titles were the bits of advice from the journal and I loved the Jane Austen Quotes. This books makes me want to pick up the Collected works of Jane Austen and rediscover their magic.
Nicola James is one of my favorite female main characters that I have read about in a long time. She is funny and quirky, awkward and geeky and I loved all of her off-beat traits. She is just so freaking adorable and I loved how awkward she was in most of the situations involving Sean. It made her so likable to me. Although I must say, I'm not sure I'm 100% sold on the kilt. (but if anyone could pull it off it would be Sean, that's for sure.)
Beck and Gabe are such great side characters too. I really enjoyed reading about them and Beck cracked me up! But the real start of this book was Sean. Oh boy, I need to get myself a Sean! I don't think they make them like him anymore. He has it all, a sexy accent, determined, super yummy, and best of all he is a sweet gentleman! How could you not like him? I was honestly shocked that Nic held out for as long as she did.
The Jane Austen journal was such a cute touch of magic to the book, and I loved learning about it. I will admit that I thought some of the older background entries were a bit too much, and I caught myself skimming some of the later ones. But other than that, the book was so awesome! I loved it. It is such a fun, cute read and the romance in it is excellently sweet! Check out this book ASAP.
