Bound by Kira Saito
4.0

Bound was an excellent, fast read! I gobbled it up all in one sitting. In fact, I stayed up until 2 am reading it, and then when I was done I just sat there in disbelief over where Kira chose to end it. So not fair! I need to know what happens! Bring on book 2 ASAP.

I loved the story in Bound, and I loved how briskly everything flowed along. Arelia is a pretty cool character. She did bug me a little because she reacted irrationally and immaturely to comments a lot in the first half of the book. She lashes out a lot- she has a lot of anger. But, I can understand why she is distrustful. Heck, half the time I didn't know who to trust, but I thought she could have handled it a little better in parts. But other than that, I really liked her. She is caring and observant. She genuinely wants to help people. Plus, how cool is her name??

And then we have Sabrina, her so called best friend. I flat out did not like Sabrina. She was selfish, spoiled, and really rude. But I don't think we were meant to really like Sabrina, so I took her for what she was. A total brat. She did have a redeeming moment at the end with Arelia, but it was not enough to rehabilitate her as a character in my opinion.

What I really wanted to talk about was the setting for the book. I love that it is down in New Orleans. I think that is the perfect creepy setting for some awesome voodoo magic. I can't wait to see what is going to happen next at Darkwood. I have a feeling Arelia's dream is going to play a big part, and Im both scared and fascinated to find out how it will fit in!

The two main guys in this story are Lucas and Ivan. Now, it is not a love triangle. They are just the two guys in the story. They both have secrets, and I went back and forth with who to trust. At some points in the story I didn't even trust either of them! It doesn't help how cryptic and unhelpful Ivan is towards Arelia, but because he is so mysterious I am even more intrigued to see what part he will have to play in the second book. And Lucas- I want to like him. Really I do, he seems to be so genuine and nice and a true southern gentleman. But like Arelia, I'm a bit skeptical of him. He almost seems too good to be true. I think I will reserve judgment until I read some more about him.

Overall, Bound was a really exciting and great read! This series has the potential to be amazing. I can't wait to see what is going to happen next. Especially after that killer cliffhanger. I was reading on my kindle, so I didn't even know that the book was going to end. I never would have guess that it would end so abruptly at the point that it did. Oh, Ms. Saito you are a minx. Great book, I really enjoyed it. I think you should check out Bound!
