Wow this book is such a fun journey! It is such a unique concept. It is crazy, sad, sweet, and funny all wrapped up in one. It is the first book in the Birthday trilogy and I am not quite sure what the other two books are going to be like because it seemed to come to a good conclusion, but I am really excited to find out!
The changes that Cameron went through while aging were so funny! I can't even imagine what that must have been like to witness. If I went to school with him, I would be so freaked out! Heck, if I were him I would have been so much more freaked out. I thought he took it pretty well. I mean, how are you supposed to take the news that you are aging an entire year EACH DAY?! Talk about scary.
At first I was excited that Cameron was going to get his just revenge for being such a jerk, but then as the story goes on and I got to know him a little better, I felt so bad for him. He really did change a lot and become a lot more mature. He never really was a jerk before- just immature like most high school guys.
What I loved most about this book was that even while dealing with something as serious as dying, Happy Birthday to Me managed to be really, really funny. I can't even count the times something outrageous happened that had me laughing out loud. This book put me in a good mood. I can't wait to see what the second one is going to be like.

I am a huge history nerd, so this book is right up my alley. It's the first book in a trilogy about history camp. This is such a cool idea, its set in the 24th century and to help shape up delinquent youth, they send them to history camp to learn about how people lived and worked in the past. It kind of reminded me of Colonial Williamsburg in the US. It actually sounded like a really cool experience, and not a punishment, but like I said- I'm a nerd. The three main characters end up actually getting sent into the past, not just to the reenactment. So cool!
I loved learning about all the little gadgets they had in the future just as much as I loved reading the pretty realistic account of how people lived and worked in the past. The three main characters were troublemakers, and they initially wanted to go into history camp causing trouble. I wish we would have learned more about Shamira. We did not find out too much about her, and to be honest I never really saw the trouble maker aspect of her personality, so I would have liked some more insight on her. Maybe in the next book? Lincoln was the most trouble of the three in my opinion. Hansum started out wanted to disrupt the peace but I think he was quickly genuinely interested in everything and how it all worked. Plus there was the whole crush on a girl in the past issue. I won't say too much about it, because I don't want to give anything away. But I will say that I thought there interactions were adorable. I liked how the romance was interspersed throughout the story, but it wasn't the true main focus.
What I loved the most about The Lens and the Looker was the way everything was described. I could see this being a great informational book for younger kids and teens. They will get an idea of how things worked in 14th century Italy. Everything is really detailed, and presented in a really interesting way. I really enjoyed reading this book and I can't wait to start the second one in the trilogy.

Atticus for the undead is a totally different book than I am used to reading, so I didn't really know what to expect out of it. I was intrigued because I wanted to see how the paranormal elements would blend with the law elements. The result was pretty cool! I thought it was really interesting to read about legal concepts and things that I'm learning in school, and it still has zombies and witches and other cool creatures. (I wouldn't dare call them supernaturals after reading the book) Sign me up please!
I thought Atticus for the Undead is a really cool concept. It's about a lawyer that represents vampires, zombies and witches to name a few. The characters were all well developed and likable. Hunter, the main character, is representing a Zombie and naturally most people are not comfortable with zombies walking around. So Hunter has his work cut out for him. It doesn't help that the charge was murder by brain-eating, I'm sure. I loved him! He was funny, and so relatable. That might have been what made the ending such a blow for me.
I breezed through this book really quickly. It just flies along, and it kept my interest for every page! I was so absorbed in the book that I didn't even realize the end was coming up. Then the ending exploded and I was shocked! It made me so sad- really sad! It was fitting for the book, but it just wasn't what I wanted to happen or what I was expecting at all. Even so, Atticus for the Undead is a really interesting, and funny read. I enjoyed it a lot.

This book was cute. It took me a little while to get into the book, but once I did, I enjoyed the story. The story starts out with a bang, or a body switch to be more accurate. It was a little jumpy for me at the start, but once you really get into the story it gets better and better! BeSwitched is a a fun read, and the next book looks good too.
Cathy and Surla are pretty funny. I was shocked at how ok Cathy seemed to be with being turned into a cat. I know I wouldn't be ok with that! And Surla, in cathy's body, attracted attention over night. I am normally not a fan of overnight popularity, but since it was technically a new person, it didn't drive me completely crazy. Right away she attracted the attention of two guys in particular- Todd and Craig. And of course, one of them is a complete jerk. Makes you wonder why girls like guys like him.
I liked the crazy situations that Cathy and Surla found themselves in, throw in a mad witch trying to get her cat back and you have a pretty exciting book. I would say it is for a bit of a younger audience but I really got interested in the story towards the end. I would say give this book a chance, and read it all. I think you will enjoy it!

This series just keeps getting better! The first book was off on a rocky start for me, but by the end I really enjoyed it! And this book started off good, and got even better and now by the end of it, I can't wait to read the 3rd book! That is pretty impressive. I love when series get even better, and this one shows so much promise- I just know the 3rd book is going to be really exciting!
The first book was focused on Cathy and this book was more focused on Surla. I liked that, because I think that Surla is more relatable and a better developed character. So reading about her was more interesting to me. Even her witch, isis showed some growth during the book, which I did not expect at all! I thought the story was going to take a very different turn somewhere down the line.
Jax is the guy in this story, and yet again, he is my favorite guy so far! Are you seeing a pattern here? I like everything more, I think BeSwitched Witch is an all around better book. I think it was better developed, not choppy or jumpy in parts. It flowed better and held my interest more.
There were a few new characters too. A new bully at school, a magical force and a whole new drama. This book was even cuter than the first one, and the next one looks like it will be great too! It ended on a cliff hanger and with some of the new characters playing a role in the next story, it seems to be a set up for a great adventure! I am really liking this series for a light and fun, magical read!

Holy Cow! This book is so good. Seriously, I NEED to read more contemporary! What I liked the most about Blue Sky Days is the writing. Marie Landry tells a story with her writing. It is not just words on a page, it is a living breathing story that unfolds right before your eyes. This is what books should be like. Blue Sky Days had me laughing, crying and smiling at all the sweet moments. It is truly an awesome and powerful book. And to think this is a debut book for Ms. Landry! Really impressive. I loved it.
When Emma moved to a new town to stay with her Aunt, I wasn't really sure what direction the story was going to take. And then when she met Nicholas, I thought for sure he was way too good to be true. So I became skeptical. But even though I was a little doubtful of Nicholas I could not help but fall in love with him and his relationship with Emma. He was always so enamored by her and always so good to her, it was hard to not fall under his spell a bit.
Even though I knew this book dealt with Cancer, it still struck me hard when I read about it. I had a family member lose his battle with Leukemia at such a young age that it was hard for me to see Nicholas go through it too. The maturity that both Emma and Nicholas showed in such a tough time was so inspiring to read about. (It kind of reminded me of A Walk to Remember, which was another emotional book/movie for me.) I loved seeing their never ending patience with each other and their steadfast loyalty. We can learn a lot from them. It was really refreshing to see such maturity in people so young. (I have come to notice that immaturity bugs me...a lot!)
I loved the recurring theme of "blue sky days". I thought that was the cutest phrase for having a good day. And it is so true, not every day can be a blue sky day. But This book made me want to take advantage of them when they do show up. Such a great message and a valuable lesson. Blue Sky Days is a beautifully written book. It grabbed my attention and didn't let go until long after I finished reading. This book is just as powerful as it is sweet and romantic. Amazing read, everyone should check out this book!

Why did it take me so long to start this series?? I honestly have no idea. I get so caught up in reading new release books, that sometimes I forget about the older gems that I have sitting on my bookshelf unread. I am going to make an effort this year, to shop my bookshelf more and not just my review shelf.
Some Girls Bite is a really great read, and the way it describes all the characters and sets up the groundwork for an intense storyline, I just know that this series is going to be one of my favorites. I participated in a read-a-long for this book, and I LOVED it. (please do another one soon!) So I read the book in 4 sections over the course of the month. This is much longer than I normally take, but it was nice to drag a book out. I got to savor it more, there were like built in cliff-hangers.
Merit is kick butt and awesome! And maybe a little stubborn and whiny at the beginning. But she went through so much, so I think we should cut her a little slack on the whining. She seemed to grow out of it about halfway through the book anyways.
The guy situation in this book is more complicated. There are a few guys- Jeff, Ethan, Morgan and Catcher. Ethan is hard to figure out. There is just something about him that I am still not sure about. I can't wait to see where it goes in the next book, especially now that Morgan is in the picture too. I look forward to many moments of jealously all around! Morgan is nice too and I so want to believe that he is genuine in liking Merit, but I just don't know about him either! I don't like not knowing! Truth be told, I like Catcher most of all! It's a shame that Mallory gets him all for herself.
Overall, The Chicagoland Vampires looks like it is going to be an amazing series, and I love that there are already lots of books out for me to read. I just need to go out and buy them, and get reading! I need to know what happens next!
