bookbriefs 's review for:
Damian's Oracle
by Lizzy Ford
This book took a while for me to get into, but I ended up enjoying it. It was really hard to understand at first and I almost gave up on it, but I really liked the underlying storyline so I kept on reading. I'm really glad that I did because I want to know what is going to happen in book two. There are a lot of characters and a lot is going on right off the bat so it takes a while to figure out what is going on.
But once you get to the meat of the story it really gets good. I liked the idea behind the story and I find the concept of an oracle fascinating. I grew attached to the characters and I wanted to see what was going to happen with them. I will certainly be reading book 2. I just hope that because the stage has been set, that the series won't be so confusing anymore.
Damian is really interesting. I don't think we know nearly half of what it is that makes up the man that is Damian. I can't wait to find out what other secrets he has in store for us. Also Darian and Jule and Dustin. The whole gang has so much history, and I can't wait to learn all about it. One thing that annoyed me was that all the characters were meant to be hundreds of thousands of years old. That is seriously old! And they are all talking like they are 15. They use slang and so much modern language that it didn't really seem to mesh with their ancient beings. I would have like to see a little more sophistication with their language.
Sofia is really intriguing. She is so inherently good, that I wanted so many great things to come her way. And even though she faced more than a few struggles, she never gave up. I can't wait to see what is next for her and her powers and her blood bond with Damian. Speaking of the blood bond, I would not mind learning some more about it in the next book. We got a glimpse of it's history but I want to know more about why their bond is so different than the other's who have been bonded. Why can't she eat? I can't wait to see.
Overall, this book got off to a shaky start for me but about 40% into the book it really picked up. The story got into full swing and I started becoming more and more interested in the book. I ended up really enjoying it and I can't wait to see where the next book is going to take us. I have a feeling the Grey God is going to be really interesting!!
